Cole is going to have to find a way to somehow limit the Guardians to -1 runs so that the Yankees have a chance at winning this one.
Lagrange pitching in relief – 7 Ks in 4 innings. Wow.
Great outing but I thought they’d shorten him up. 1 hit and only 2 walks.
If Schlittler turns out to be hurt, you’re one injury away from wanting Lagrange as a starter again.
Wow, that Cole inning was fucking EFFORTLESS.
Forty three to go
The only time Jazz can come through is when there is no one in scoring position.
True Yankees baseball.
God, Wells is so fucking embarrassing.
And he’s not even the #9 hitter!
The two phenoms hitting 8/9, foundational Yankees for years to follow.
That was a better play by Grisham than some of the falling catches they seem to love.
49 pitches with no outs in the third is not bad. Keep THAT up.
Shouldn’t have said anything.
Well, we know who to blame.
Looks like a battle of the pens. Oh good.
phenom 2/17, hard to believe. Down to 224/692 on his way to his career average OPS 665. Austin Wells even worse, much worse.
I do not like Cole and Schlittler both choking.
I don’t think either choked, they just weren’t good.
I think we can say this game is over.
Nice baserunning Rice.
It’s hard to believe they don’t have an update on Judge yet.
Haldeman for the 7th and Ehrlichman for the 8th for Cleveland?
Hill returning to his White Sox form, last 14 days before today hitters 476/1417
Bullpen still helping the opposing team.
Bottom of the lineup 203/607,169/544, 220/679. phenom career OPS 663.
Grisham 206/699.
All kidding aside, did anyone here think Wells was going to hit this year? Volpe? Grisham? Most of us were gobsmacked by the $22m off one career year and I’m not surprised that he is back to what he was. McMahon? Another guy we knew couldn’t hit. So none of this should be a surprise.
We’d gladly take 2025 Wells, 21 HR/71 RBI. The 2026 edition is a zombie, 4 HR/7(!)RBI, as in seven RBI.
Yeah, I don’t think it was at ALL unreasonable to expect Wells to suck only as much as he did last season.
If they want to get Lagrange up here as soon as possible why did they let him go 4 today? Isn’t the idea for him to pitch every other day an innning or two?
The big problem is that Aaron Judge can’t be put on the IL, of course, as if you have a chance of him avoiding the IL with him, you HAVE to take it, but at the same time, the Yankees have a bunch of guys who can nominally fill in for Judge, but none of them are on the roster right this second, and one of them, Jones, can’t realistically be called up until they decide on the IL situation with Judge, so you get Jose Caballero, #6 hitter playing right field.
The catching position and the left side of the infield are problems.
Yeah, but they can cover it with their other good offensive players. They just can’t have Cabby playing right field every day.
Martian should be back soon and presumably Stanton also.
Agreed. That’s what I mean by the frustration. NORMALLY they’d have plenty of cover for an injured Judge. But right this second, they have none.
Rays and Jays also lost.
Lombard 0-4 in double header. Scranton OBP 376. Now if he starts getting some hits. Hans Montero 5-5 with a walk at Tampa.
Good news Rodon day tomorrow afternoon mm
