  1. Does MLB really expect fans to buy subscriptions to 18 different services to watch regular season games?
Or are they okay with fans just getting used to not watching their games?

  2. Awesome.
    Just amazing.
But fair warning – Fried, if you give THIS right back this next half inning, we’re all finding a new team to root for.

  3. I have never seen the ball fly in Dodger Stadium like this. It’s unusually hot for this time of year but I’ve been to hot games before

    1. I mean I don’t go to
a ton of games but I’ve seen a lot of flies die at the wall

  4. It’s bullshit that they don’t have teh x-rays back yet. I get results in a half hour at my doctor. For Betts they get read instantly. He’s fucked up his foot and they’re hiding it for the time being. Their big star going down with a foot injury and Judge making an amazing catch
    is poetic

    1. also I like Mookie but it would be funny if his dog snapped at him and he tried to kick it and missed and broke his foot by contacting his fake fireplace

    2. What happened? Did that happen in this game?
UPD ah, probably not (if we don’t know how/why).

    3. he “stubbed his toe “ before the game, is not available, and supposedly the xray hasn’t been read yet

  5. Just got the video.
Judge is a FINE outfielder – the meme to the contrary is due to a period of time he was (probably ordered to be) super-cautious and just not try to hard in the outfield after the toe injury.

    1. I think they’re mad because he’s giving the Dodgers all the close ones

    2. I keep saying this (am I the only one who sees it?) – it’s like they’re trying to prove their eye all the time. That’s not what you do when you have two strikes – you foul balls off until you get a pitch either to hit or that’s CLEARLY a ball.
Who keeps telling them to take close pitches with two strikes instead off fouling them off?

    3. There are pitches you can’t foul though and it’s better to try to steal it

    4. “There are pitches you can’t foul though and it’s better to try to steal it”
Pitches close that to the strike zone?
Looks more like pride and stupidity to me.

    1. “So did not expect that.”

Like I said, I wouldn’t have even minded losses in this series, just don’t get embarrassed, and Fried couldn’t avoid doing that.

  6. Usually I’m the most negative guy here but I’m pretty sanguine. He’s having a bad game against a very good team. It’s not the playoffs. It’s his first bad game. Cole had plenty of stinkers.

    1. Any other Yankee, I’m down with that. But if your whole deal is how great you’re starting the season, and then the Dodgers kick your ass, it’s just so embarrassing.

They’re playing so well, losing a series to a good team isn’t a big deal. Embarrassing themselves IS.

    1. They can still win the game. But it’ll be hard to get their pride back.

  7. It’s not like the Dodgers are this powerhouse with the best record in baseball and pulling away.
They’re good, but the Yankees have and can beat good teams.
But they seem scared. It’s humiliating (for them, I want to say).

  8. With a day off yesterday and Monday I’m not quite sure why De Los Santos was in in the 7th of a 1 run game to face 3 of their best 4 hitters. Was Boone stealing 3 outs?

  9. The ONE thing I wanted. Just don’t embarrass yourselves, and they couldn’t do it. I could live with a loss easily. They’re a good team. Shit happens. But they just couldn’t avoid embarrassing themselves.

    1. To Boone, if you’re trailing, it’s never high leverage. I agree, it’s stupid, but it’s how he’s managed since he’s been here.

  10. I’m shocked, shocked that Le Machine didn’t do anything. You just might have a bad bench if you have to use a 179/494 hitter as the tying run in the bottom of the 8th.

  11. Boone doesn’t seem as bad sometimes when they players play so well they absorb the damage he does.
    But this time they haven’t.

  12. I really liked Headrick early in the season (and in Spring Training), and he hasn’t done anything in his return to make me like him any less. He should probably be ahead of De los Santos on the totem pole.

  13. Fearless prognosticator: given the way mlb.com works, if the Yankees come back with 10 home runs and win the game, they will select Ohtani as the player of the game.

    1. Well, they had their best (not)/second best (not)/third best (not) starter in, and a well-rested, top-flight bullpen (not). This was not the game in which to expect more offense (yes, it was).

  14. boone always does what the other manager does in big games. prior was able to calm down their starter, send out blake to calm down fried. oops. typical boonehead.

    1. If they need Boone not to be the worst in-game manager in the history of sports to win, they can pack up and go home now.
They CAN overcome that, but they need to out-play his managing.

  15. Pinstripe Alley Bluesky
Boone giving important outs to Yerry De los Santos is a sign that it’s time for me to go to bed

because I hate myself and stayed up, I was rewarded with Completely Washed DJ LeMahieu in a PINCH-HITTING FOR THE PINCH-HITTER role
    I’ve learned my lesson

    1. hmm, we’ve had tailspins following successful springs in the last three years so…

    2. Saturday and Sunday guarantee it as they limp home. But! Unless he gets injured, plenty more DJ, plus Boone managing, remains in 2025.
