This is certainly the pitching matchup of the century right here. Hopefully they start and then get into a rain delay, and Eovaldi has to leave the game, because otherwise…yikes.
Hey Brian, just wanted to say how much I appreciate your work on the blog. You’re a pro writer and yet you also turn out hundreds of blog posts as well as many many comments. It’s really a privilege to be a part of this community that started with Larry and was carried forward by SG and now you.
Hear, hear! Love this place, and am grateful for the care and thought that you put into it, Brian.
Thanks!
Third that. It’s a quorum.
I would still follow the Yankee scores, but without this blog I would barely know who was who. Now knowing can trick me into thinking Volpe isn’t a piece of shit.
Seriously, though, thanks Brian. I do enjoy the community and you are why it exists.
I can’t believe Boone isn’t running out a house money lineup.
Cruz to the IL, Headrick back up.
They should just award Rodón an automatic ball any time he gets ahead 0-2, to save on the pitch count.
Really good interview with CC on the Starkville podcast. That guy is a national treasure
Should Vivas have scored on the double?
It wasn’t a real double (no one was covering second, so Peraza took second). So no.
Thanks
This isn’t a frustrating start at all. No sir.
Didn’t Duran looked like he’d be pretty good at one point?
Briefly, yeah. Smith was buried in the minors after an awful start to his career, but then he ended up being the best player in the deal.
I’ll give Rodon this much. I don’t think this is even headcase Rodón, I just don’t think he has his command today. So the results are actually pretty good with that in mind.
I very much dislike Eovaldi sticking it to the Yanks.
I very much dislike Eovaldi
That was not a strike. I’ll take it, but we need robots policing the robot umps.
I’m sure we all saw that coming.
Jorby
ISTG if Rodon fucks this up…
Phew
Another very good start by a pitcher I was counting on for exactly nothing. The starting pitching has been very good this year.
Leiter made things too interesting but it all worked out
Looks like we can consider early-season Williams a forgettable hiccup.
What a dominant performance by Williams and Weaver.
What a fucking win!
That must’ve been fast. I was on the radio and got in right after the 8th ended.
Typical getaway day game offense by the Yankees. Glad Vivas didn’t get the memo.
Another 1-run game.
That stat is evening out.
Who woulda thunk it?
Now, off to the destiny of playing the Rockies.
Might not hurt the offense.
When was the last time the yanks won 2 games in a row where the winning hit was a HR by a rookie?
I’m
Beginning to think Rodon isn’t half bad
It’s not that he’s not half bad, it’s that we’ve seen the bad half already.
Does Dominguez still have rookie status? but broader point well taken even if not
Yes, he does. Like Gil, though, if he wins Rookie of the Year, the Yankees don’t get shit for it.
