Is this going to be one of those things where the Yankees lose Game 2 because Boone was saving relievers for this game?
DJ 1/4 with a walk. I bet we see him Tue or maybe Friday.
Winans 5ip 0r 3h 3k. He’s on pace to take Carrasco,’s spot
Brian Cronin says:
So obviously the new guy gets sent down for Lo when Lo is ready, but who loses a roster spot for Winans, if Winans joins the rotation? Are they ready to give up on Matzek?
I think they want Lo to have another 3 or 4 appearances before bringing him up.
Right, fair point. So it’s the new guy sent down for Winans, then. So they’ll have some time to make a decision on who goes for Lo. There aren’t a whole lot of possibilities, though, right?
Weaver
Williams
Cruz
Hill
are all locks to stay.
Leiter Jr. is probably fine.
Can’t get rid of Yarbrough.
So it’s Matzek or Hamilton. I think it’s gotta be Matzek, right?
Or do they just let Yarbrough keep the rotation spot and keep Winans in the minors, thus allowing them to keep both Matzek and Hamilton. You KNOW they would LOVE to see if Matzek could regain his former form.
Ah, the Sevy we all remember. Thanks for showing back up, Luis!
Yarborough is the kind of lefty junkballer you don’t see much anymore
Happy mother’s day to everyone’s mother or siblings or adult children who are mothers
Threw too many pitches that inning but he should still go 5 I think. Also I have to think that throwing as (not) hard as he does is easier on the arm
The gravity on Mars is why Jasson is so fast.
My father always maintained Hallmark invented Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. And he wasn’t far off. The woman who is credited with starting Mother’s day decried the commercialism.
Well sure but it’s still nice to appreciate your mother
Are we stuck with Belli next year too?
Most likely.
Finally that bum is back over .400.
Ricearoni a Sacramento dish
nice
I guess you really just have to stick with Yarbrough in the rotation at this point, right?
Yup. pretty good job against a decent lineup
Why not. Heck, he only needed 67 pitches in 5-innings.
By the way, in some good news, Stroman’s knee is still acting up, and he’s not even REMOTELY close to returning. Keep it up, dude! Your poor rehab is the best thing you’ve done for the team this season.
and you KNOW it’s because he’s not taking it seriously
Addition by subtraction.
Vivas, the only starter in the Yankees line up without a hit. 🙁 He will get one last chance, if he doesn’t get pulled.
Bud Black axed as the Rockies manager, Rockies win a game.
so much for the Judge slump
Finally that bum shows up.
I hate Bellinger and I’m ready for him to move into a utility role for the Savannah Bananas
True or False? – Scott Effross will pitch on this team before September.
Well, he just threw 25 pitches for Somerset on Saturday.
They have options on him still, so they don’t NEED to call him up, and if they DO call him up, they need to cut someone. So I wonder if they’ll just keep him in the minors until September.
He’ll be back right after Zack Britton.
That’s, of course, the other side of the coin. Will he ever even be in a position TO be called up?
De los Santos is interesting to me. He obviously has a live arm, but he doesn’t seem SPECIAL to me. At the same time, he looks like he would be a fine back of the bullpen guy.
Impressive game.
Goldschmidt on the brink of 900 OPS, Jasson knocking on the door of 800.
…
In other news… do they not teach protecting the strike zone with two strikes anymore?
So many players get struck out with balls right on the edge of the strike zone – on pitches I can see taking with one strike, but not two.
Why don’t they even try to foul those off to wait for something better?
