    1. That definitely was a theory at the time, that he felt that his injury would keep him from getting a big offer. I don’t think it was as clear as, “I can’t become a free agent because I’m secretly hurt,” since he arrived in camp seemingly healthy. But the overall questions about his health were certainly an issue.

  6. So, the imaging is done on Cole’s elbow, and Hoch quotes him as saying, “I’ve still got some hope. I’m just waiting for the experts to weigh in.” He’s getting second opinions now, and hasn’t booked anything.

    I don’t see how you get a SECOND elbow injury and NOT get TJS, right? So I’m assuming TJS.

    Thank goodness they signed Fried. They’d be fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked if they didn’t do that.

  8. They are so screwed. Fried’s a GREAT pick-up, but wasted. I’m almost as sorry for him as I am profoundly sorry for Judge, who should never, ever have signed here.
    They need to do more than one “something big,” and they’re not going to do even one (beyond what they did, some of which was great – that is, a great beginning, but not a great overall plan).
    Having them fall to pieces now just makes it easier for us not to be invested. Which sucks, not at all what I hoped we’d be talking about now.
    Can’t remember the last time I didn’t have high hopes coming into the regular season.

    1. I think they’re good enough, without Stanton, Cole, and Gil (oh, and musn’t forget LeMahieu) to still make the playoffs. But yes, this team ain’t winning a World Series.

      Now, this team plus half a season of Cole and the addition of Kyle Tucker? THAT team could definitely win everything in 2026. Kyle Tucker is kind of the key. He’s the perfect addition to the team.

    2. First of all, they have weeks of spring training to get what’s left of the team safely to the regular season. Good luck with that.
      Second, Stanton’s going to be a factor NEXT YEAR?
      Sure, there’s potential there – *IF* Wells is all he was when he was good last year, and *if* Volpe shows something offensively, and *if* *both* Goldie and Bellinger recover offensive prowess instead of declining, and *if* Rice actually really hits at the major league level… and maybe if Greg Bird can come back and play an injury-free all-star third base… oh, and if JD can actually stay injured, that’s another key upside they have to rely on……………………… how many of these things actually happen?

  10. Most of you may know that my nephew passed away 4-years ago this March, I mentioned his sudden passing here. His widow was appointed administrator of his estate, she filed a lawsuit as administrator as well as in her personal capacity, against Danbury hospital as well as one Doctor in particular. Basically, they outright killed my nephew. A settlement has been reached, a total award of $13.5 million. Case files sealed. At least that is something.

  12. Jazz 111/384, phenom 143/429 No Walks. Stolen base potential and a career OBP of 288 is an indictment on Yankee hitting coaches and Boone. He was actually slightly worse last year than 2023.

    1. Judge’s hitting guy spoke the truth last year. Cashman says, who cares. Hal says, huh?

    3. Serious in both elbows and Stanton hasn’t even had his mandatory calf/knee/hamstring/oblique injury yet. Don’t they have to?
