I know you want to win a series as soon as possible, but I don’t know why Schneider is worried at all. If they lose tonight, they’ll just destroy whoever the Yankees start on Friday in Toronto.
Just like they’ll probably kick Schlittler’s ass tonight, too. They’ve been pummeling Yankee starting pitcher all series long, I don’t think they have much to worry about.
Springer is the greatest hitter of all time, isn’t he?
It’s so odd that no one seems to realize it.
A memorable start to the game.
How is this possible? I mean, this is a good set of starting pitchers. Toronto is not the 27 Yankees. What the fuck?
At least the pitch count is good if he settles down.
He should settle down.
Yankee pitchers need some new 0-2 strategies.
How are they placing these ball all withon 3 feet of the foul lines?
Helluva play Cody
fuck are we doing here?
would really be nice to like, not be losing at some point here
Boston hitters swung at a lot of high fastballs out of the strike zone. Will the Jays?
He’s not walking them. They’re not making him pitch and get back in the strike zone. He gave up three hits and still threw only 11 pitches.
They’re HITTING him, which is a very different thing.
GD had ball one to Judge way inside the strike zone.
Way to make’im work, Bellinger. Come on, Mr. former MVP!
And of course their spot starter gets through the top of the Yankees line-up on NINE pitches!
This is some nightmare bizarro series.
I think the Toronto deal with the Devil not unlikely.
Grisham 490. Stanton 425 for the post season. Trent needs to get on base and Stanton needs to get em in. Stanton especially needs to come up big.
Just can’t put these guys away.
Oh my god, they’re on him wherever he puts it. It’s insane.
Deja vu
He’s going to ruin his pitch count on one fucking shitty hitter.
The next two retired on 2 pitches each does somewhat mitigate that.
Okay, that could have been much worse.
More flailing by Wells.
I hate, hate, hate this culture of not fouling off close pitches with two strikes like everyone’s Wade fucking Boggs.
It’s hard to blame phenom for that alome. He doesn’t have a clue what’s happening at the plate.
phenom 13Ks in his last 21 ABs, 3 hits and no walks. I mean that’s fucking awful and Boone never bats an eyelash.
The culture of the pin blue line.
Nice, Mac!
In the 2025 season, New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe was pinch-hit for a total of two times.
Hard to believe there weren’t more situations that would called for a pinch hitter.
Unserious people running the team.
MAC!
Pulling it is much easier than going to Death Valley Mac.
McMahon has been hitting the ball sharply of late. This one over the wall.
good at bat in the face of a terrible ump that time for grish. sucks it had that outcome.
Damn. Hit it hard.
112 mph
phenom has Ked 58% of his PAs this post season.
It seems hard to believe that Caballero, who had a hit last night, wouldn’t be a better option than Volpe.
Maybe Cabby’s injured finger is a bigger deal than we thought?
Seriously? There’s no way Boone would sit phenom.
Come on, Schlittler!
Pretend it’s Boston and they’ve said snied things about you.
I wish Barger would remember that he sucks.
I actually think that Schlittler is being hit a little bit exactly because he was told to go deep in the game, which means not extending at bats and dithering around on the edge of the strike zone, and he’s actually capable of carrying out a game plan.
Schlittled!
Yankee hitters on strike. We need some errors please.
Cam motherfucking Schlittler.
I actually don’t like this use of Yesavage, if they plan on him pitching the fifth and sixth.
That’s actually a pretty smart walk, I think.
It turned out to be a VERY smart walk.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
I don’t like Vladdy becoming a fucking Gold Glover out of nowhere.
The Jays batted .384 as a team this year right?
What is happening? Why is Boone on the mound?
Where’s our Varsho and Clement?
I would NOT be rushing to take Schlittler out.
That’s was right in Schlittler’s glove. Even if he thought Jazz could make the play, it looked like an easy DP.
Yep.
You seriously just have to tip your hat. They’re stringing hits together like a motherfucker.
Actually what you have to do is get some runs of your own in.
Boom. 💥
I want 100 pitches from this dude. I still trust him over any reliever.
100%.
But not all in this at bat.
Varsho 1676, Clement 1494. phenom 583 and falling like a rock, Jazz 594, Trent 472.
One would think those numbers would be unsustainable.
One would like to think those numbers would be unsustainable.
I see the plan. Lauer with a lead, Yesavage if it was tied. It makes sense.
Wells, this is the wrong time to suck!
Outside of Judge nobody on this team scares you. Everybody on Toronto except Lukas, Santander and Giminez scare you.
That’s what a contract with the Devil will do.
Oh my sweet Lord. Volpe, man, please.
phenom 0/12 83% strike out rate
Boone is willing to lose if that’s the cost of keeping Volpe in.
Mac hit a home run but 789 is truly putrid and and the fish is rotting the most with our SS.
My guess is that Cabby’s finger is really bothering him. Why else would they be riding with Volpe and his automatic strikeouts every game?
Because Boone is an idiot. Volpe hit a home run in game 1 vs Boston. Gotta get him going.
Rosario has 767 games at SS also.
If I were a smarter man, I’d shut this off now and go watch a movie. Or do my taxes. Or experiment with self-trepanation.
I did that last night at 6-1 watched The Pit which I don’t even like.
Cody Bellinger has the record with 29 strike outs over 64 ABs for a 45% K rate. phenom would have over 50 Ks at that rate.
Because Barger is just that good, especially against really good pitchers.
What is the deal with this?
Thank you.
Jays with 7 hits, Yankees with 2.
I would use Yesavage now if I were Schneider.
Boone’s balanced lineup working out great. Lauer gets to face 3 lefties who can’t hit LHPs and phenom who can’t hit.
They take so many strike threes. It’s infuriating.
Jays would foul those off
He can’t hit LHPs.
Trent is at 472 and hit 182 for the season against LHBs. Cabby and Rosario both can play the OF
That is why he is the MVP, bases empty IBB.
Wow, TWO whole pitches by Belli.
Enough! Time for the Big Lug to launch one.
He wanted no part of Stanton.
I swear, if they pitch around both guys and get away with it, that would suck. But that’s exactly what’s going to happen. So fucking pathetic. “We know only two of you can do anything”
Too many noodle bats in one line up.
It’s a direct slap in Jazz’s face, and he just says, “Great call. I DO suck that much!”
Jazz 182/568. Coming up big. The Jays pen is not exactly the 2015 Royals. There are so many of these fucking games where the offense disappears.
Another one with little plate discipline; or a plan, other than swing for HRs.
Other than when they were down 12 the Yankees only had one good offensive game.
Besides Judge only PGold and Mac are hitting over 700.
Clement, again? Fer cryin’ out loud.
Jazz could’ve done that. Not. phenom could’ve done that Not. Grisham could’ve done that. Not.
Well that sucked
Boy, the fundamentals on this team are just exquisite.
Fuck you Jazz 182/568 and booted that. Maybe be a little less full of yourself and learn to play the game.
jazz really is soriano
Except for Schlittler, Judge, Devin, Mac and Bednar everyone on this team has come up small.
It’s been a fun season complaining with you guys!
What would I have done without you?
Gracie says Goodnight, Gracie.
And Boone should have left Schlittler in.
say, this trepanning sure is making my brain pulse.
Williams made perfect sense. He got the K he needed. He just fucking choked against Lukes.
You absolutely 100% CANNOT fucking walk Vladdy there in front of Barry Bonds Barger.
Jazz 0-3 with a strikeout, a DP, a ground out with 2 on and a monster error. But he’s so cool.
That was the book on Jazz.
It’s really weird that Devin Williams can only start an inning, and anything else, he loses his goddamn mind.
That’s all she wrote for the 2025 Yankees.
Ay-yep. Especially since they’re just walking Judge and/or Stanton every time they get up. The other losers can’t do shit.
They won’t walk Judge if they’re up by 3 or more.
Cashman built a one dimensional team, Boone and Rowson have totally obliterated any concept of having an approach.
Everybody on Toronto except Santander is having a better series than Trent, Stanton, Jazz, Wells, Rice or phenom
I can’t believe Volpe is batting here.
I would’ve been amazed if he did. You think too highly of Boone.
Boone won’t even hit for phenom here.
Unserious people run this team. And Volpe will be penciled in as starting SS opening day.
He’ll play 159 games next year and OPS 654
This is really the grand testament to the 2025 Yankees. Not pinch-hitting for Volpe so that he could strike out for the 40th time in the postseason.
And this leads directly to the GM.
I think Cabby has to be hurt. Otherwise, it doesn’t make any sense.
I would have let McMahon hit there, but I get why they didn’t.
Grisham fucking SUCKING is also a major problem for this team.
Next year, hopefully Dominguez is playing well enough to be the everyday centerfielder.
No way should they bring Grisham back after his career year.
Yeah, agreed. They just need someone who can play centerfield. Is that Dominguez?
A popup into foul territory. Fucking amazing.
And now Judge will have no one on base in the 8th. Awesome, awesome hitting, you fucking losers.
A Leadoff hitter hitting 143/440 and has proven he’s hopeless against LHPs. leads the team in PAs. Cabby and Rosario both play the OF. Maybe Slater should’ve made the squad. There is so much deadwood on this team.
And the manager and the coaches.
i really don’t get why they didn’t shuffle the lineup more. it wasn’t working. cabby was awesome too.
Palookaville.
phenom is having a series as statistically unlikely as Joe D’s consecutive hit streak
the yanks should learn how to do that hitting thing
Cashman is watching this and thinking “we just didn’t hit enough home runs. Next year we need to swing harder.”
I mean, the Blue Jays are just hitting EVERYone. You know they’re going to choke against Seattle, though.
Detroit. 😎
Or maybe Seattle pitchers won’t choke against them.
At least Bednar is still a dude.
Yankees embarrassed by Toronto in the regular season and again in the playoffs. I miss George. How long can we fail in the playoffs under Boone and Cash?
I feel like Hoffman is, like, their worst reliever. It’s so weird how HE’s the closer.
Can we get phenom another AB?
Announcer was right One swing. Couldn’t wait.
if there’s anything i hate it’s swinging at the first pitch after a walk. wells did it. jazz earlier. wtf.
Yankee playoff baseball. Same story every year.
Un-fucking-believable.
I guess I should say, “Very believable.”
Toronto is officially hitting everyone. What can you do?
So balls that don’t leave the park can still be valuable.
Austin Wells, the biggest 2025 disappointment.
Agreed. However, I think something should be said for the fact that they didn’t even play Dominguez in the playoffs for a second straight year.
Okay, Bednar is at least still a dude.
Are you fucking KIDDING me with this shit?!? NOW?!!
I seriously don’t get how Hoffman is their closer. So many of their other relievers seem better than him.
Come on, Belli, at least give us a SMIDGEN of hope.
What a fucking loser. Boy, Belli and Grisham sure are making it easy for the Yankees to ditch them for Tucker.
Yep. In fact, Grisham would be a bad signing after a career year.
i sure would have liked to watch some more baseball
Yeah, that’s the biggest problem with this.
Win or lose tonight there was no way they would have won game 5. So at least I won’t feel as miserable for the weekend.
Yeah, there was NO WAY they were winning Game 5. I still would have liked to have gotten there, though.
papi just said they have a hitting coach, can we get one of those?
pretty sick of jazz looking at his glove after errors, shaking his head at every called strike, talking a lot and then not backing it up.
also, volpe striking out every time.
That was the book on Jazz.
2009 is a long time ago.
Random twitter comment.
Boone Only Yankee manager other than Buck to have a losing playoff record.
Three Jays players with an OPS over 1.4, great scouting by the Yankees. Great pitching philosophy. Ptooey!
they have to play cabby next year, right?
He’s under contract FOR LONGER THAN VOLPE. It was such a great pickup by Cashman, and they promptly DON’T PLAY HIM. Make it make sense!
No they don’t. They believe in Volpe. He’s the future if you want the Yankees to become the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The only team down 2-1 that didn’t avoid elimination Aaron Boone’s NY Yankees.
🤢
Aaron Boone: “I’m confident we will break through. It’s hard to win the World Series. I’ve been chasing it my whole life.” It is hard to win the World Series but he has a 481 winning % over 52 playoff games.
Aaron Boone if he expects to be managing the Yankees next season: “I’m under contract.” DJ has a contract. Aaron Hicks has a contract. Marcus Stroman has a contract. Arod was released while under contract.
Boone says he expects to return.
I didn’t realize Wells fly ball was the only the 8th. I missed a whole inning of frustration.
Katie S Yankees had a 8.47 ERA in the ALDS.
That’s the worst ERA in any single postseason series in franchise history.
Great pitching coach at work.
I’m so glad I’m overseas and missed this game.
But my 2018 prediction still holds – they will never win a WS with this manager.
2026 starting pitching looks awesomely great; judge is still judge and even had a good post season. Rice is good. Jazz is annoying but good. I think Jasson will be fine. They have a closer. But if Boone manages, they won’t win.
I think Rice might very well be better next year. He had limited college and minor league experience. I fear unless Jazz gets over himself he might regress. phenom is a lost cause. If they figure out how to use Jasson he might be fine. He has to ditch switch hitting and maybe he’ll be better defensively in center, his natural position.
True words, those. Boone is the primary reason I no longer watch games.
It’s so great that the Yankees are so close. Winning is not important. I never want to see a Reggie Thurm season again.
Maybe Hal should dump Randy Levine and Trosy and hire a new President to help him figure out what to do with Cash and Boone.
What the fuck does Randy Levine do anyway?
Sleeps in his desk.
I imagine Levine’s indispensable as the only guy who slavers at the opportunity to fire people.
Hey, maybe put him in charge of baseball operations!
Either they tell Jasson to drop the switch hitting or they don’t really care. They are an unserious organization that it took them this long to do that.
Or send him to a f*ing winter league and have him ONLY hit from the weaker side.
I’d send him to the winter league and tell him to hit exclusively left handed.
The Yankees deprived the Blue Jays of a joyous mob celebration in the middle of the field.
They made the Blue Jays so dominant that beating the Yankees just wasn’t a big enough deal to get worked up about.
