  1. Against fastballs and knuckle curves LHBs are 4-50 with a slg under 300, RHBs slg over 600.

Flash:Yankees think they have the advantage against the bullpen, this after saying only Devin and Bednar can be trusted.

  2. Even for Rodon, that was a pathetic walk. Right in front of Vladdy. It’s just so comically stupid. You have to TRY to be as stupid as Rodon.

And then he starts Vladdy 2-0. This is just hilarious in how awful it is .

  3. I mean, we all saw it coming, but even while seeing it coming, it was still shocking in just HOW pathetic it was.

A shitty walk, then fall behind 2-0 to the guy who owns you – WHAT COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN NEXT?!

    1. Yeah, there’s definitely something unusual about just HOW badly they abuse the Yankee starters. We’ve seen Fried and Rodon pitch much better against other teams, but they both just ABUSED by Toronto. It’s crazy.

I don’t think there’s any actual cheating going on, it’s just a weird fluke, I imagine.

  4. In all seriousness, once he fell behind 2-0, he honestly should have just walked him. That’s not to say that they wouldn’t have still scored the runs, but at least it wouldn’t have been quite so pathetic.

    1. He was looking for something and he wanted to get on for McMahon with the bases loaded.

  5. The best team Boone has ever managed. If they get blown away in the division series after getting dominated by Boston and Toronto in the regular season while having the worst post season record of any Yankee manager could that cost him his job? Girardi lost his job after losing game 7 in the ALCS.

    1. And phenom will play 159 games and suck again. Unwells will have a great spring training and suck. Jazz will regress. McMahon won’t hit and the pen will suck.

    2. I am not saying the other stuff won’t happen, but I’m actually pretty confident that Cashman won’t let the bullpen suck again. I think he will invest in it for 2026.

  6. Really, though, one of the main goals has to be improving the bullpen to the point where there is a guy you could use in this inning that would have made sense.

They really should have done more to develop Yerry.

  7. And again, I know it’s because the bullpen sucks, too, but you’d think they would have just pulled him after he intentionally walks Vlad, no? He obviously sucked tonight. It’s a fucking elimination game! Everything should be on the table, right? Not going to the bullpen until the game was over is just so dumb.

    1. Boone pulled Gil after only giving up two in an inning where Smoltz who had been critical of Gil in the firsts two praised him in the 3rd.

  8. Boone made a bad decision in game one vs Boston, pulled Gil too soon and Rodon not soon enough. The Yankees continue to play unsound defense.

    1. He’s totally reactive. He probably got some blowback for pulling Gil too early, so he left Rodon in too soon, after pulling Gil too early because Cora did it to Bello.

  9. Okay, I see it now, the Yankees will just keep scoring half of whatever the Blue Jays score in the top of the inning.

So it’ll be 10-5 for the final. They NEED to score 10 runs every game this series.

    1. maybe since it’s the last game he wants to get everyone a little last chance to play?

    2. although i wouldn’t mind if caballero gets Volpe’s remaining at bats.

      including next year.

    1. It was dumb at the time, and even dumber now.

This is just like that Warren game where Judge tied it with a home run, just so that Devin could blow the game later.

    1. I have NO idea when to use Weaver in this game.

Hill for the sixth, obviously, but could you maybe go Devin Williams for four outs, Bednar for five?

  10. Hoch: Some Statcast on Aaron Judge’s HR: It was off a 99.7 mph pitch that was 1.2 feet inside (vs. the center of the zone). It’s the first time in the pitch-tracking era (since 2008), regular season or postseason combined, that a hitter has homered off a 99-plus mph pitch that also was that far inside.

  11. Comments ready when I fell asleep with the Yankees losing big again: Well, we all knew coming into this series that the Yanks’ two big weaknesses were:
    A) their lack of power on offense, and
    B) their starting pitching.

…Now, shocked in the morning, I can add one more: we also knew the one thing that could save them was that lockdown bullpen!

  12. Two thoughts about last night:

    1) When Judge was thrown out between third and home in the third I thought that was it. Typical Yankee BS, really that was a bad play and he had no business being thrown out. Glad I was wrong.

    2) Why in the fuck didn’t Grisham throw home on the Vlad play in the third? the whole play was in front of him and He was already going! He would have been out by quite a bit I think. on replay, it looked like even if Chisholm turned and threw quickly it still would have been close. That’s the kinda shit they do all the time though. Is there a less optimized team in baseball?

    1. One of Sam Miller’s hobbyhorses is that across baseball athleticism is off the charts, fundamentals are in the toilet
