One thing that needs to be considered is that the Padres legit ARE a good team. It’s not like these guys are bums. They played the Rays tough, as well. That series was just in Tampa Bay, while this one is at home, making them even tougher.
No excuse for the choking, of course, or Blackburn giving up a home run, but the Padres ARE a good pitching team. So this is reasonably going to be a very difficult series.
Is Ali Sanchez hurt? He was in the original lineup, but now Wells is batting 9th.
