Lombard 1-4 with a home run, up to 728 which is not too bad for a 21 yo in AAA, He’s at 865 in June. Martian 1-4 with a home run. For some reason Boone was non comittal about bringing him up. I can’t imagine Grisham being able to play tomorrow.
Boone doesn’t want to give up Volpe just yet. My bet is that they’ll do Volpe at short, Cabby in right field tomorrow if Grisham says he’s feeling good enough to play in the next couple of days.
But yes, even if Grisham doesn’t hit the IL, the OBVIOUS move is to just call up Dominguez and send Volpe down, so that you have ACTUAL outfielders filling in for Grisham for the next couple of days (as I agree, even if he’s feeling better, the odds of him playing the next two days seem slim).
Weathers has been unhittable at times this season, and he’s gotten no run support. I wouldn’t go crazy over this.
He was also 0-2 or 1-2 on so many batters – then he couldn’t put them away , or suddenly didn’t think he could and walked them.
Probably because he’s not used to giving up homers – wasn’t that never his problem before this season?
It seems like a thing that could be figured out.
