Talk about awful timing. Due to a sudden illness, it’s going to be Paul Blackburn and the newly called up Brendan Beck to start this one. NOT GOOD!
Already another fucking injury. Ugh.
Is Dominguez just fucking CURSED?!
Frankly, I think he’s probably injury prone. The kid has a fire hydrant build and loaded up with fast twitch muscle. He’s not particularly graceful in the field and makes bad reads on fly balls. I don’t think he knows how protect himself.
That’s why I said I didn’t necessarily disagree. I think he probably IS accident-prone, but some of them are just fluky, like when he got hit by a pitch.
Wow what a catch by The Martian. But hes hurt, maybe bad.
He got to his feet but is being driven off the field. Rosario to right, McMahon in, Cody to left.
TERRIBLE walk there by Blackburn.
If Blackburn doesn’t have the plate, then he’s useless.
That was an AMAZING tag by Schuemann. WOW.
Blackburn’s got nothing. Saved by Martian and a caught stealing.
He DID just pitch two days ago. Maybe he’s not a guy who’s used to that turnaround? Because, yeah, he has NO command of the plate. It’s amazing he got through that inning without any runs scoring.
JC Escarra showing something with his arm, by the way.
PGold’s greatest asset-his legs.
Bop, are you secretly Mrs. Boone?
Goldy legging out a triple is HILARIOUS.
He is EXHAUSTED at third. It’s very adorable.
I love Girardi defending Goldy from the other players laughing at his running.
Oof. Good catch Jasson.
Could be a concussion. Hope they don’t botch the management like they did with Rizzo and Frazier.
They definitely botched Rizzo, but they didn’t botch Frazier. He just never recovered.
They botched his second one by default in that he didn’t report it. If your culture is good and your staff are competent, the players will be more inclined to trust them.
I dunno, man, have you HEARD Jackson Frazier talk? Not the brightest bulb around.
Frazier’s podcast is actually pretty decent, if not as fun as Jomboy and Jake. I’ve caught a few episodes on YouTube. Frazier doesn’t speak like, well, Frasier, but he isn’t dumb. And sure, he isn’t necessarily the most emotionally mature guy either, but an employer needs to be able to recognize that and create an environment where the employee is safe to express their own needs without fear of reprisal. Even in as toxically hypermasculine a culture as professional sports.
That’s a crazy good play by Jung. Dang.
Maybe don’t play Joc fucking Pederson in the outfield for the first time in three seasons. It’s just fucked up by Schumacher, putting a player in a position he CANNOT PLAY anymore.
Granted, I am predisposed to hate Schumacher. Don’t like that dude at all due to his comments as a union rep during A-Rod’s issues.
I’m very skeptical of anyone named “Skip”.
Beck’s clever plan of having the batters hammer the ball right at fielders is impressive.
PA Carlos Lagrange 4.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R (5 ER), 3 BB, 8 K, 3 HR — lit up the radar gun with multiple 99s, terrific stuff, and 12 swings and misses … but still plainly has work to do
Yeah, it he was better, he’d be pitching in this game no doubt.
Grisham’s walkup music being Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” is fucking WEIRD.
What the FUCK, Grisham?! Don’t fucking swing 3-0, dude!
That 3-0 swing is what annoyed me about Donaldson. He would swing at way too many bad pitches and not just take the walk. When you have a great eye, USE IT.
Grisham has less respect for Scheumann and Escarra than for those who usually hit behind him.
Okay, fair point.
Duran has fucking KILLED them this series. If he only played against the Yankees, he’d be a great player.
Surprised they didn’t let Blackburn go once through the lineup.
I guess they thought he just had NOTHING?
But yeah, with a short bullpen, it’s definitely a bit surprising.
Walking Seager in front of Jung is just plain ol’ dumb.
Okay, so that’s a tradeoff of one hit that he shouldn’t have had versus all the ones he should have had.
Why did Gore go toward the ball if he had no intention of catching it?
Damned if I know. It was a real shitshow there.
Reeeeeeeeeally can’t walk the #9 hitter on five pitches.
Hill picked a bad day to suck.
Man, a rare bad Hill outing, and he still only allowed one hit.
I can’t complain about these Texas catches when the Yankees have made a number of great catches themselves.
Dominguez in concussion protocol AND getting an MRI on his shoulder.
Just a rough stretch of games here. First, Eo, who dominates them, then a late Weathers scratch, and tomorrow they get Jacob Misiorowski.
Plus, Tim Hill had his wort outing of the season to give up the lead.
Hopefully, Jasson recovers completely from the concussion, but he does seem injury prone.
I don’t necessarily disagree, but he also has a lot of freak accidents.
Might we see Spencer?
I imagine that has to be the play, yeah, as it sounds like Dominguez might be heading to the IL no matter what. And since Jones is already on the 40-man, it’s an easy add.
What a shitty at-bat by Jazz.
So much for Jazz heating up.
Man, I fucking HATE the checked swing rule. It’s just so fucking arbitrary.
Oh, you HAD to challenge that. But wow, SO close.
Branch Rickey first said baseball is a game of inches could see into the future.
That was nice
Oh man, that was so fucking sweet.
I get that it was lefty-lefty, but I truly do NOT understand sticking with Gore there.
Fuck you, Schumacher, you dick.
JC Escarra. Hitterish.
Judge was guaranteed that single after being robbed in the first. I really like how this team scores runs late, whether they have a lead or not. I don’t know if that’s really a skill but it has been missing amidst all the run scoring in the past few years.
Well, that was quite the turn around.
Holy shit, right?!
Maybe they should tell McMahon every day is a day off before just inserting him into the lineup, as he’s looked like an entirely different hitter today.
You can’t stop McMahon, Escarra, or Schuman. You can only hope to contain them.
I am THRILLED that Cabby is healthy enough to finish this game out.
It can never be easy with Doval. Is seven runs enough for him?
I’m fine with it if they continue to bitchslap the rest of the AL on a daily basis. Pro-bitchslapping. That’s what they always said about m– wait.
Sounds like it is finally going to be Spencer Jones time.
Bird and Doval each with scoreless innings. Yankeeography worthy.
It really seems like Bird has moved ahead of Doval on the totem pole, right?
Well Brian, considering Doval is basically the worst reliever this seems unavoidable.
It’s not like Bird is some stud, either, though, ya know?
Yay win! Yay triples! Yay backup pitching staff!
Hope Dominguez is okay. Hope the Weathers family are okay too.
What happened with Weathers?
One of those awful viruses where he has lost 9 pounds in the last few days from throwing up constantly.
Dominguez is clear on the concussion stuff, but he has an AC strain. He’s heading to the IL. It seems like the most likely scenario is that Spencer Jones gets called up. They COULD call up Volpe, and have Caballero play left field.
He is so unlucky. You make the best defensive play of your career and you get higher fucked.
Jasson Domínguez has a low-grade left AC sprain in his left shoulder that will require an IL stint. Aaron Boone said it will be “a few weeks.” Concussion tests are negative so far.
It reminds me of how Sheffield actually gave maximum defensive effort in Game 5 of the 2005 ALDS, only to collide with Bubba Crosby in the process, allowing the go-ahead runs to score.
Ugh that was the moment I knew we’d lost that series. I was 15 listening in the car, remember it all too well.
I hope he was nowhere near a cruise ship.
I legit DID get a bit worried about hantavirus.
Without respiratory symptoms it’s unlikely to be Hantavirus. Much more commonly norovirus or rotavirus, and those can unfortunately be life threatening in infants – notably those too young for a rotavirus vaccine (first dose is 2 months). Could also be an enterovirus such as hand/foot/mouth, or a non-viral pathogen. But any of these can get a newborn really sick. And any fever before 30 days requires immediate medical attention, including admission for empiric antibiotics and evaluation for sepsis.
Now, even though Weathers might not be likely to have Hantavirus, the bullpen has recently had two potential exposures, in the forms of Fernando and Elmer.
Sounds like norovirus
The Yankees are reportedly calling up their 6th-ranked prospect, Spencer Jones.

Kimbrel blows up on the Mets.
Rockies pitcher, with a 4-run lead, walks the Mets leadoff hitter in the ninth.
Well, hopefully they’ll at least let Spencer play. Let him get his first two golden sombreros out of the way, against Misiorowski tomorrow and a lefty on Saturday.
When the hell is Rice going to be back from what was just a bruise?
I miss the day’s they’d have just told him to walk it off.
…
Spencer is so not ready for this. Hope I’m completely wrong about that.
He mentioned he couldn’t take full practice swings that day, so I assume it’s just lingering. But since they know it’s “just” a contusion, they know it WILL go away, and they don’t want to lose him any longer than they have to, so they’re just losing the roster spot for another game or two. It IS annoying, though, agreed.
He probably not ready but he’s their only realistic option now.
April 2012 Gardner injured his right elbow diving for a ball. It was initially thought to be a minor issue it was diagnosed as a strained elbow, and he was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Gardner attempted to return multiple times but experienced continued pain in his elbow when swinging, He underwent surgery in July to remove a bone spur and inflamed tissue. He returned in September
Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if we never see Dominguez again this season.
Ah, the old Yankees crackhead medical team.
The Yankees will finish the day with the best run differential in baseball at +81.
It’s just incredible how they’ve been winning.
I’m so dreading the annual ridiculous 1.5-month swoon where they play .200 ball.
Talkin’ Jake Jones vs Judge. Maybe history will do more than rhyme.
https://x.com/talkinjake/status/2052537124423885046?s=61
As we all remember, Judge batted .179 in his 2016 cup of coffee, with 42 strikeouts in 95 PA, for an OPS+ of 61 and a net WAR of -0.3. So let’s not worry if Jones gets off to a slow start – hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if he strikes out 10 times this weekend.
But I will be extremely disappointed if he doesn’t homer in his first at-bat against Misiorowski, as Marcus Thames did against Randy Johnson, and Jasson Dominguez did against Justin Verlander, and Tyler Austin and Aaron judge did against… Matt Andriese…
Rays win again.
At least it wasn’t another one-run win.
But they beat the townies.

He also made an error on a routine ground ball.
