I think Brad Lord is actually a pretty promising prospect. So, well, that’s not good for this shitty offense.
Schlittler’s, like, “Oh, yeah, I totally forgot all the lessons I learned in my last start. Back to a gazillion pitches per inning!”
Fifteen pitches?
He recovered after throwing a lot to the first batter. But it was a nice recovery, I’ll admit!
Wow, Judge actually just took two balls!!
THREE balls!
Wow, Judge showing some real restraint! Huge to see.
Hope springs eternal.
Why didn’t the Yankees give Ian Hamilton the start?
Yankees set up for some classic RISP Fail, in the very first inning.
That one fooled me
A sac fly is not a hit w/RISP.
They managed a run anyway.
One run on no hits is very UN Yankee like
That was an UnYankee like hit.
There went three very Yankees like at bats. A double and 3 pop ups on 4 pitches WTF was that? Hey Caballero we want you not to be like phenom.
Has Rowson been preaching first pitch swinging.
He’s earning while learning.
RISP Fail in full swing! Two innings, 0-4.
You can’t walk the number nine hitter, dude.
Walking the 9 hitter is a Yankee specialty.
Too many pitches!
42 through three isn’t insane, but it’s not great, either.
That said, the idea that scouts looked at this dude and said, “He’s good, but he’s not Carlos LaGrange good” has me crazy hyped about LaGrange.
I’m betting on Schlittler
I think they probably just underestimated Schlittler, as well, but imagine if they didn’t, and LaGrange is just THAT good?
The Yankees obviously told Caballero to make the fans miss Volpe.
Long Gone.
Imagine if they were stuck with Wells at catcher? Big ups to Rice for being a good enough catcher to stick.
A pick-off and a K on a 100.6 MPH fastball in one inning.
Judge hit that one pretty good.
Yeah, no complaints in that at-bat. He only swung at strikes
I love that 0-2 pitch to Jazz. “Is he THIS dumb? Let’s try.”
Jazz had a decent at-bat… until he struck out on a terrible pitch.
The Phillies just had a two-out hit with runners on 2nd and 3rd. What evil magic is that?
That was well executed
I understand who the runner is, but Rice seems to be a decent catcher in all facets.
Yeah, it’s amazing how well he’s taken to it. it’s such a huge boost for the team.
How has Josh Bell not been a Yankee with that baserunning?!
It’s clear that he starts over pitching when he tires.
Stop walking these people down in the order. Sheesh.
I think we’re seeing a young pitcher who has trouble with fatigue late.
Nice, he collected himself, and just overpowered Young.
No runs and three hits thru five I have no problem with.
One RISP challenge down.
Caballer nice baserunning.
We have RISP success (Judge)! More fail sure to follow, though.
Hey, Judge, see what happens when you only swing at strikes?
I would have brought in a lefty there if I was Miggy.
Be still, my heart. Back-to-back hits with RISP.
Jazzy. Bullpen-proof?
“Kyle Tucker has just been stroking it the last few games.”
Jesus, who let him in the Mets bullpen?
He is seriously overthrowing now.
Dude, you CANNOT throw a ball there. I’d seriously prefer a batting practice fastball there.
What are they all talking about? phenom’s been here 3 season and is a proven mediocrity offensively. What reset? This is who he is?
What a job of battling in that inning by Schlittler!
Gentlemen, I don’t post much these days and my fastball ain’t what it was, but if I were young I ‘d be signing the fuck up for the Schlittler Youth
Three Reichs; you’re out.
I did Nazi that one coming.
So long as Judge keeps swinging at only strikes, I can live with super hard hit outs. You keep hitting the ball hard, it’ll eventually start to drop.
Martian been a while!
Three hard hit balls by Judge, one hit; keep hitting it hard and all will be well, captain.
Bullpen-proof now?
Not something you see from most young Yankees pitchers, and he’s done it in a few games now. Pray that his arm stays sound.
Wouldn’t the ninth have been the perfect time to use Cruz?
Volpe could have pitched. 😎
I don’t think he’s here until tomorrow
Oh, then never mind. All good then.
Almost wasn’t bullpen-proof.
Sad for DelosS. He was one out away from a save and instead gets hit with 4 ER.
They probably overextended him, but in a 10-0 game, you can’t walk in a run. Just throw it right down the middle and hope they hit it to someone.
And you can’t even get mad at Leiter. His job is just to get the inning over with. He was just throwing strikes, and if they hit it, they hit it.
Pythag killer
Raleigh hit #50. Odds he gets 13 more?
Gotta be pretty high, right? He has more than a month!
Ben Rice xOPS 992, 293/413/579
Sept 1 2024 out of Wells, Volpe, Martian, and Rice how many people would’ve predicted Rice to be far and away the best of the quartet?
Volpe would never have been part of my consideration. Wells or Jasson would have been my guess, Rice third.
I thought Wells had turned a corner but instead it was a pumpkin.
