  1. From bop in the last thread:

Greg Joyce Giancarlo Stanton declined to say if it is a specific body part bothering him or just general soreness.

“I’m available to pinch-hit,” he said.

Neither he nor Aaron Boone would say if he will play RF in Tampa.

But Boone said he doesn’t see this turning into an IL situation.

I can just about guarantee they are just saying, “Okay, this dude isn’t doing anything but DHing or pinch hitting the rest of the season.”

  2. How weird is it that Scott went on the IL for the injury he received while trying to snare Judge’s home run, but he didn’t come out of the game? That injury looked gnarly at the time. I know adrenaline is a hell of a drug, but DANG.

  3. G Ryan Yarbrough and Fernando Cruz are both on rehab assignments with Triple-A Scranton, and Jonathan Loáisiga has started a throwing program. The first two are both likely to be ready before rosters expand on September 1st, and Loáisiga might be ready by then as well, meaning the Yankees would need to find three spots with only two relievers capable of being optioned to the minors: Brent Headrick and Yerry De Los Santos.

    1. This is what I saying at the start. Caballero has no ego, he just tries to get on base however he can. He’s not talented enough to do it that often, but he’s fundamentally sound. He reminds me a lot of Luis Sojo. Just a fundamentally sound guy who doesn’t know how to hit that well.

    1. It’s just stupid pitching. The double is a double, whatever, sometimes you give up a hit. You can’t totally control that shit, but the walk? That’s totally under your control, and it’s just stupid pitching.

  4. They’re not good, but if Boone hadn’t thrown away 5 games already we could pretend that they might go somewhere, maybe.

The good news is that a new GM and manager could fix this.

  5. At least the Yankees aren’t the only team to blow a late lead against the Marlins. And in a Garrett Crochet start, too, so that’s extra painful!

The BoSox didn’t exactly look that impressive in that Miami series against the Marlins’ two worst pitchers and Junk.

    1. If you’re gonna bring in Devin let him pitch the next inning. Doval is arguably worse than Devin.

  6. I refuse to believe Doval is not still an upgrade over Ian Hamilton, Yerry de Los Santos, and Brent Headrick, but man, he makes it hard to believe that. Again, though, the Yankees gave up basically nothing for him, so it’s hard to get too mad about it.

If BEDNAR sucks, then yeah, they gave up a LOT for Bednar, so THAT would kill me.

  7. Guardians blow a lead, get swept by the Braves. The Blue Jays also couldn’t complete their unlikely comeback, so a win today would see the Yankees gain on both Toronto and Boston, AND increase their lead on Cleveland to 3.5 games.

So I think we all know that there’s no way that’s happening, right?

  8. Warren really wasn’t bad. An error and a two out double that I think was catchable but belli came in first? Need to see that replay. One earned run in 4.2 is not gear but it beats fried.

    1. In that situation, I don’t think there was a good option. I’d hate Tim Hill against Ohtani and Betts, as well. All you needed was a single to tie the game. Hill routinely gave up singles that postseason.

  9. It’s too bad it’s logically impossible for Boone to adopt the strategy “just see what Boone would do, then do the opposite.
    Goddamn tragedy.
