Get Goldy’s bat against lefties into the heart of the lineup.
RIP, George Wendt.
ESPN BOSTON — New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said he’ll talk to Juan Soto about hustling out of the batter’s box after the slugger watched his would-be home run bounce off the Green Monster for a single Monday night against the Boston Red Sox.
Leading off the sixth inning on a chilly night at Fenway Park with a 15 mph wind blowing in from left field, Soto hit a 102 mph line drive to left and stood watching as it sailed toward the 37-foot-high wall. The ball hit about two-thirds of the way up, and Soto was able to manage only a single.
But Soto had also failed to run hard out of the box on a groundout Sunday night at Yankee Stadium.
When did they resurrect the corpse of Patrick Corbin?
Man, look at Warren go.
This could really be something.
Yanks getting lots of offense from 3b
And 2b
Please let Volpe hit at least respectably!
Ugh.
After so many pitches, an at-bat that could have meant something.
Ugh.
That was so close I can’t even tell if he was out.
Why wouldn’t they challenge?
How worried are you guys getting about Wells?
In Boone’s defense, it’s not like Warren is the type of pitcher who falls apart in a hurry… oh, wait…
If you’re going to the bullpen NOW, why not a lefty?!
Leiter!
Watching Warren breaking out is pretty amazing.
another strong outing for Warren though
though?
He didn’t end well, that was the “though”
Ah!
“Not well” in the sense of “Fried’s struggling” – no runs allowed.
Good company.
Good ejection by Bochy.
Judge now down to .400 like a bum.
Webb is their one good reliever.
Volpe’s seeing a ton of pitches. If only he could just \lay good wood on ONE of them!
Well, another fail, but a productive fail!
They really should just walk Rice.
Yeah, I meant that it was a good outing but he did fall apart in the sixth a bit. It was a good idea to let him pitch to Semien and a good idea to lift him after the K. No FUCKING clue why Boone didn’t go to a lefty though, Pederson just can’t him them at all.
Stat padder.
Forget Ted Williams, Judge and Grisham are going to be the first teammates to hit .400 since Big Ed Delahanty, Sliding Billy Hamilton, Big Sam Thompson.
Lotta big guys on those 1894 Phils. I’m … not sure if that means Billy Hamilton was small or Ed and Sam couldn’t slide.
Rice looks to be for real.
Maybe not 1100 OPS for real, but 800+ for real.
Hamilton is so fucking annoying sometimes. How are you walking anyone up five in the fucking ninth inning?!
Did the Yankees fucking wreck the Mets’ season? Nice job not showing up against the Red Sox at all, Mets.
Back of the bullpen, strikes again. They love walking guys with a 4+ run lead, hitting batters.
Hamilton is another one of these headcases. He actually seems to pitch well when he buckles down, but he loses focus all of the time, and it fucking sucks. STOP BEING SUCH A LOSER HEADCASE, HAMILTON!
This seems to me like good advice.
nevertheless a pretty good game
nevertheless!
I thought Yankee pitching was good holding the Mets to 7 runs in 3 games. Eh. Red Sox just held them to 1 run in 2 games.
On the other hand the Red Sox have only scored 5 while the yanks scored 16.
That 8th inning homer reminded me more of Tyler Austin than Aaron Judge.
MLB says it was the shortest HR of Judge’s career.
https://www.mlb.com/news/aaron-judge-hits-shortest-home-run-of-his-career?game_pk=777849
Specifically, it reminded me of their debut in 2016, and of Austin’s short-porch homer, which I thought for a moment was easily going to be the most memorable play of the game. A homer in your first MLB at-bat? That’s unforgettable.
Then Judge hit the center field restaurant.
Yeah that was fun! I had high hopes for Tyler Austin, he was a good prospect. I think I felt he was a surer bet than Judge! I hope he saved his money and is living a good life.
Tyler Austin is still playing and mashing in Japan, good for him
Can’t find recent salary info but he was making 568K in Japan in 2019, even if his salary is flat that’s a good career
