  1. Rodon’s FIP and WHIP – even before yesterday – was telling a different story than his ERA.

It’s only been 20 innings, but his FIP, WHIP, H/9, BB/9 are awful.

  2. The two years he was good/great look like the aberration otherwise he’s been a league average pitcher with health problems. Little wonder neither the Giants or Cubs fought to get him back. As Chris pointed out his WHIP is 1.678.
Cash might’ve made the same mistake with DJ by resigning him for 6 years off his two aberrant Yankee years.

    1. Honestly, he’s been better than I expected. I think his back injury robbed him of his effectiveness, but he’s slowly bouncing back, so I’m willing to give him some time to get right. His stuff SHOULD be dominating.

    2. Eh, his statcast metrics are underwhelming and it looks like he’s been getting very lucky on not getting barreled balls. His barrel % so far is lower than most years, sometimes significantly, including the seasons where he was Cy Young material. Meanwhile most everything else looks similar to last season, maybe slightly better.
