From Bill Ladson:
Outfielder Aaron Judge’s legacy continues to grow. On Sunday afternoon, Judge hit his 42nd home run of the season off Rangers left-hander Andrew Chafin in the seventh inning at Yankee Stadium, helping New York to an 8-7 win over Texas.
Judge’s blast came three pitches after Juan Soto hit his second homer of the game and 30th of the season. It gave the Yankees an 8-3 lead at the time, which turned out to be crucial when the Rangers scored three in the eighth and one in the ninth before Clay Holmes finished off a four-out save.
Thank goodness they finished the fucking game. The featured image is Gleyber getting the ball for the final out, but first falling to his knee, for extra drama, before throwing the runner out at first for the win.
A shitty win, but a win is a win, and they’re back to first place in the AL East!
Just glad not to be a Braves fan today. 8-2 lead in the 8th becomes a 9-8 loss and they are fighting for the last playoff spot. How the mighty have fallen.
Is any team going to be stupid enough to give Holmes big bucks because he’s a “closer”? Besides cashman I mean….
How funny was that recent New York Post article about how they might “lose” Holmes if they resign Soto?
What was up with two plays in the 7th with Chisolm, making an error and costing 2-runs, on a ball that was Volpe’s, and then Gleyber streaking in front of Volpe to get the final out in the 7th? Both balls were the SS balls to field.
Yeah, very weird fuckups. I’ll give Jazz some allowance as he’s learning a new position, but no explanation for the Gleyber move.
What was shocking (I shouldn’t be surprised, though) was Kay praising Gleyber for that.
Yeah, it was weird how Yankees.com was also hyping that up as a “great play by Gleyber Torres to end the inning.”
Trevino began his rehab on Sunday.
It’s funny, Trevino is clearly a very good backup catcher/borderline starter for a team with a good offense otherwise, but I legit prefer Narvaez on the team at the moment just because I don’t trust Boone not to play Trevy waaaaaaaaaay too much when Wells has got to be a 5 on/1 off starter behind the plate.
Trevino can’t throw anymore. I’m not sure how much utility he has as a catcher anymore.
whitesox time. 3 wins incoming
At this point a good team playing the white Sox has so much pressure that it’s like the playoffs.
The Yankees have been a choke team for years. Let’s see how this team responds to the pressure. That last inning before the ASG still plays in my brain. Chokiest chokers ever.
Dodgers Designate Amed Rosario For Assignment. He can sign with anybody right? Hes OPSing 816 against LHPs this year, 807 for his career.
Could he play LF against LHPs and occasionally fill in at SS or 2b? Verdugo OPS against LHPs 613.
