So I guess Davis Martin is going to be the guy who shuts them out?
The 34 IBB Judge has set the AL record, one more than Ted Williams in 1957. John Olerud also had 33 IBB n 1993.
Now would be a good time for Belli to break out of his slump.
Or just keep the CT going with a walk to load the bases.
Rice tried for a DP but missed.
Hey, I’m just impressed he didn’t strike out or ground into a DP.
Oy! Stanton.
It is very, very bad that Stanton is getting consistently retired on four-seamers in the zone.
When he expands the zone, it is annoying, but it is more stupid than concerning. But when he can’t beat gas in the zone, that’s very worrisome.
LOL Bases loaded, no outs, they manage a run on a ball hit to the pitcher.
In all seriousness, a run is better than no runs.
Bases loaded no outs, 3 crappy ABs.
They sure love to hit batters. Rodón falling apart a bit.
Bad Stanton playing every day at DH would be a serious liability for this team. Sept/Oct 2023-
136/250/348, for the season he hit 191.
How are you bunting for a run in the second fucking inning?!
You can’t be playing for a single run in the second inning. Just awful managing by Will Venable.
McMahon batting being Wells and Volpe and it making sense is such a sad indictment on McMahon right now.
Insert cartoon of guy poking Belli with a stick, “Come on, DO something.”
It is not good that Belli and Stanton are both in the middle of some pretty awful slumps.
Judge with IBB #35, increasing his AL record.
Judge extends his IBB walk record, but oh yeah, he’s definitely not the MVP. No sir.
Yankees, we don’t need no stinkin’ hits with RISP.
By the way, how fucking pathetic is George Springer suggesting the umpires are rigging things for the Yankees?
🤣
Stanton looks so lost.
Once again, just blowing a four-seamer past him. That is NOT good.
I worry more about Stanton than Cody. I think it’s more likely Dody can figure it out but when Stanton is bad, nobody’s worse.
At least that’s 61 pitches for three innings for Martin. It’s SOMEthing.
Did Springer really say that? What planet is he living on?
Also – another IBB… the pitchers are telling you who they think is more valuable.
IBBs should be the tie breaker.
Tuesday the Yankees only won thanks to a miracle wild pitch and were thoroughly throttled by Shane Smith and an assortment of relievers. Today Martin Davis has held us to one so far. How are we going to beat Boston or Seattle?
It’s not like the Bostons aren’t screw-ups, too.
None of these teams is all that fantastic.
Agree but their top of the line pitching in the first round of a short series Crochet, Bello, Giolito, Whitlock and Chapman is very tough.
Rodon, seriously, what the fuck?! MICHAEL FUCKING TAYLOR?!
Kiss the division goodbye. It was a fun fantasy.
Just clear the three pitchers spots and try something in the fifth.
Sadly predictive.
We gained nothing by the return of Volpe.
How bad has McMahon been? It looks like he is new to baseball at the plate.
Yankees are Palooka beaters but they don’t have the multi dimensional offense to beat good pitchers like 4-3. The good Yankee teams beat Pedro half the games.
There are 5 guys who are slumping or bad or erratic-Cody, Stanton, phenom, Unwellz, and McMahon.
Struggling in 2 of 3 games against the White Sox is so very much ‘your 2025 Yankees’.
Jays with a multi-pitcher perfecto in the 6th.
The Blue Jays are currently throwing a fucking perfect game in a BULLPEN GAME.
Martin is going to throw seven at this rate.
NOW he gets a fucking hit.
More adventures with RISP ahead.
Stanton is just lost out there.
Okay, he found himself on a cutter that didn’t really cut.
Routine grounder to third
The Big Lug comes through.
Pulling Martin was too stupid.
The Jays, bases loaded, no outs.
Wells, so bad.
Blue Jays with a Yankee-like rally. Reached on error, walk, then hit by pitch.
Then a grand slam.
Stupid Justin Wilson.
Oh well, a Red Sox sweep was the Yankees’ only real hope, and that is now gone.
Holy shit has Rodon come up small tonight.
Thank you, White Sox, for some Yankees-esque baserunning.
Teel worries me here.
Rodon has really been pretty good this year.
82 pitches? I wonder if Boone lets him pitch the 7th.
Overall, yes. Tonight hasn’t been great.
Big K there.
6 innings 5 baserunners. Yeah the HR was bad but overall I think some would call this a quality start. If this is bad Rodon, I’ll take it.
On the other hand. 1 for 10 with RISP is not good under any circumstances
Jesus fucking Christ, Yankees. Stranding the bases loaded in HALF the innings!!!
Guardians lose.
Another IBB for Judge. Last night, the Rockies pitched to Raleigh with a man on second, first base open. The loser ChiSox walk Judge in the same situation.
I think the glare from the Yankee jewelry with 3 men on is distracting the hitters.
Either Wells or Volpe needs a fucking single.
Not going to happen, though.
Or a double.
I was right about no single, though! 😉
Elmer Cruz, the guy we got for Narvaez, AAA series finale 0,2 ip, 5r, 4h
Narvaez has basically the same OPS as Wells.
He’s had a great Toronto series, but yes, Narvaez has been more his true self in the second half of the season. I imagine we’ll see more of that going forward.
Cruz was good in AA. The trade might work out.
But does Paul know what a minyan is?
What did I miss?
Brutal K, Grish.
2 for 13 RISP
I wish the Yankees had used Doval yesterday.
What was that walk, Devin?! If he hits a home run, he hits a home run! NOW if the guy hits a home run, it’s a tie game!
Just when they said Devin had figured it out.
Maybe Devin is not fixed. That was smoked.
That’s why I STILL don’t trust Devin Williams.
But there’s no better choice.
Never heard of Richard Dotson. Is Richard Dotson the guy from Family Feud who kissed all the ladies?
Having a tie breaker to determine who gets a first round bye is so lame.
Trevor Rogers OPSA 473, Will Warren 732. Wasn’t Rogers originally supposed to miss this series?
I knew they’d hold him back to have him face the Yankees, and they did.
The O’s will do the Yankees no favors.
But why? Do the Os like Toronto? Hate us more? Why?
I think it’s three things.
1. Fuck the Yankees
2. The pride of saying “You need to go through us if you want to win the division”
and, more specifically,
3. The pride for Rogers in being able to do it to a playoff team
It’s the right thing for Baltimore to do, I suppose, but I don’t like it.
So many stupid Boone-generated losses earlier this season…leaves us as a WC instead of a bye. Sigh.
Raleigh will lead off in the bottom of the 8th.
If Suarez hits one more HR in the season, it will be the first time five payers have hit 50 or more in the same season.
Maybe it’s not just Cal. Is there something new out there? In horse racing when one juicer gets caught the scientists come up with 2 new substances that there are no tests for.
Cal Raleigh with a 247 BA which is 20 points lower than any position player only ( Marty Marion) to have ever been named MVP.
And that was a war year.
not a very high war year
the lowest
