It would be really nice if Max Fried could pick up where he left off in Detroit. It would be awfully nice to have an ace again (and a real ace, not “Will Gerrit Cole’s elbow hold up in this game?” like Cole was last season).
Interesting to see Peraza against a righty. Boy, the Royals sure have gone all in on Cavan freakin’ Biggio, right?
I would have preferred that Fried gone after Garcia more aggressively, but at least he got the out.
Good, he was much more aggressive with Witt and Pasquantino. I guess he just needed to settle in.
GD scoffs at that first pitch being called a ball.
Bellinger needs to start hitting or go on the IL.
Agreed.
God, I love how aggressive Fried is. Rodon, just watch this guy pitch, and see what he can do with stuff that is NOT as good as yours!
The Yankees keep JUST missing on these shots to the outfield.
Wells seems to hit a lot of very hard outs.
Ha! I was just about to note that Melendez is that one guy who seems like he can hit ANYone. He also took Cole deep in Game 1 of the ALDS. He just also strikes out against anyone, and he does that a LOT more than he hits home runs (hence why he is a career negative bWAR player).
Soft contact fucking them again.
Yep, soft contact in front of Bobby Witt. Not fun.
I can’t even get too down on Fried in that inning. Like I said, Melendez can hit homers off of anyone (which is why he is still in the Majors despite being otherwise terrible), and the Garcia hit was just bad luck in front of one of the best hitters in baseball.
This game is very frustrating. Wacha seems to be getting by on smoke and mirrors, but it’s working.
Not scoring runs AND not making him work.
Curious.
Why can’t everyone just suck as badly as Cookie did his last outing? Doesn’t seem like too much to ask.
So it turns out Carrasco is our ace.
I always wanted the Yankees to sign Wacha, as he constantly seems to dominate the Yankees, going back to his days in Tampa Bay and Boston.
This is brutal. They keep hitting it well, but to nowhere.
Goldschmidt has been great on defense this season, but ooph, that was rough.
Uh oh, a rare break in composure for Fried following the error.
phenom 083 last 8 games before tonight’s 0/2. He’s now down to 203.Expecting him to turn the corner is going in circles .
He reminds me a LOT of Rodon, in that it seems like he just can’t ever concentrate.
Every swing is for a HR.
Wow, TOTALLY stumped on the “Name That Yankee.”
I looked it up after I couldn’t get it. I had NO chance at getting it.
This game fucking sucks. Fried deserves some fucking runs.
Okay, that was just an excellent job of pitching by Wacha against Wells.
As I said the other day, should they try to move the Martian up in the order against righties?
GOD, they are RIGHT on him with all of these hits, and they’re all fucking outs. It’s so aggravating.
Wacha is going to have a fucking complete game shutout.
Goddamnit, everything is hit on the screws, and everything is right to a fielder! It’s so fucking annoying.
Good take phenom
Walks, errors, wild pitches and homers are our game.
That was highly unexpected.
Viva Mars!
Jasson!
Boone, 🤦♂️. So dumb.
Defensive replacement 7th inning. Way to ruin his confidence.
That’s why.
That assumes everything would have been exactly the same.
Walking Biggio, ugh.
Why is he even in the Majors?!
No tack on runs for you!
Not so Devine Devin
This is basically the Devin Williams I thought they’d be getting.
Schmidt Day tomorrow.
Yay, win.
Better
I am so happy that Fried is on this team.
So Mr Martian finally came through from the right side?
Nice!
Knocked his batting helmet off with the swing.

Kirschner Aaron Boone said Jasson Domínguez lost his contacts when his helmet hit him in his face. That’s why he was pulled.
Boone said he actually lost them when he was running
If we all run, can we lose Boone?
