  1. MLB features Vin Scully’s call of the last inning of Kaufax’s perfect game.
    It’s… fine. I liked the bit of description – taking helmets off and putting them on again. There was no analysis whatsoever, though – nothing like “after these two pitches he’s set him up for this pitch,” or “he’s trying to pitch him this way,” or… anything.
    The final call was “A perfect game!” – neither inventive or striking. And then silence… fanboys will say “to let us bask in the noise of the…”
    …of the crowd of only 29000, which wasn’t particularly loud or interesting.
    I’ll never get the cult of Vin Scully. He’s… okay. Offer me Cone and Kenny and I Scully wouldn’t even cross my mind.

  2. It can only be one thing behind most Yankees starters throwing so many pitches, especially in the first inning. Some weird pitching philosophy which permeates the entire organization.
