Leiter sucks, so I assume he’ll no-hit them.
Schmidt 4.2 IP | 3 H | 2 ER | 0 BB | 7 K | 70 pitches
Off to a hot start! Soto DP.
Who the fuck waits until the end of August/beginning of September for a big slump!?
Spencer Jones 2B, 3B.
Cole struggling, 17 pitches, 2 on, 2 out.
EDIT: Escapes with no damage on 20 pitches.
How many reactions shots of Al Leiter will we get?
Finished watching Industry, 15 minutes behind. Another first inning DP?
Gleyber plates 2.
Judge, sigh.
Judge and Soto been quiet, each hitting under 200 the last week.
Judge has 1 RBI last 6+ games.
Cole, 49 pitches through 3-innings.
That’s all right our lights out pen is locked and loaded.
Easiest prop bet ever, Leiter will have the best game of his career.
How often do we have to see Al Leiter? Enough.
Tonight we lose 3-2?
LOL Leiter, 5-innings, 65 pitches. So Yankees.
I thought for a second double play. A few feet to the left.
Very unyankee like.
I think Rizzo MIGHT be an upgrade at first base.
Maybe.
How could he not?
Another awful AB by Judge.
Let’s hope it’s a cramp.
It looks like just a cramp. Phew.
The Yankees bullpen at work, giving up runs.
“You can’t relax. You’ve got to manage.”
Oh god we’re fucked.
Yankee pen in trouble
Gleyber with the possible game saver. Holmes not so hot.
I don’t get why Boone tried to get two innings out of Hill.
They should let Holmes work it out with a five run lead more often.
Ohtani’s kind of creeping up on Judge’s HR parade.
Ohtani is just the best player ever. A 50/50 season just because he can’t pitch this season? Get out of here.
Nobody cares about stolen bases.
Cole’s recent success really makes his shitty game against the Nats stand out more. They really needed a stopper in that game.
We single out a few players we just can’t watch. But can they really just cut bait on every significantly underperforming player? They’d always be selling low – and we’d be going nuts as most of them play better then somewhere else. It seems crazy that some of them are THIS BAD – and wouldn’t you expect some return to form? Well, obviously you wouldn’t, but…
What about where a player’s significantly overperforming our expectations (e.g. Judge a few years back) – should they cut bait and get what they can, reap the benefits before performance reverts to norms?
No one expected Vertigo or DJ or even Volpe to be THIS bad. Nobody. Gleyber, on the other hand, HAS rounded back into form. The more I think about it – it’s a crazily difficult job.
They should have figured out a way to put DJLM on injured reserve and released vertugo. These guys are negative WAR players getting hundreds of at bats. There should be cheaply available minor leaguers better than negative, right?
The Trading deadline dud was the real problem. Jazz was a good pickup, not doing nothing at 1b, LF, and RP will burn them
In October.
A young cashman used to make moves that helped like Justice and Glen Allen Hill. This older washed up version of cashman gets us mark leiter and de loss Santos.
Players gets old and lose a step; so do GMs and managers.
Via The Athletic, projected contract for Soto: 14 years, $560 million. That would be $40m per year until he’s 40.
Get out your checkbook Hal!
Cashman’s smarter than that. He knows that when the team would floundering under the burden of the last few years of Soto’s contract (and can’t stop playing him or even remember that those last few contract years were just the cost of doing business), he’ll be in his early nineties… and still GM. Why would he want a problem like that in what should be his peaceful dotage?
Red Sox now 10 gages behind and are fighting for the third playoff spot. Go tigers!!!
Sports radio host yesterday: yanks are fine; they still have the best record in the AL; they’ll be fine in the playoffs. Hello? They’ve played 500 ball for half a season. They were the best team in April/May; now? Not so much.

Anthony Volpe currently leads MLB in the most OAA against while he is batting.

Verdugo not far behind. So many ground balls to 2nd by Verdugo calls into question the value of this stat.
Last year he was 16th
so he’s been very unlucky
Give volpe 10 more hits and he’s on to meh. Give vertugo 7 more hits and he still stinks
Verdugo hits three ground balls to second base a night, walks out of the batter’s box, and the manager says he’s been unlucky. May we all have as much job security.

Plus that half assed pop up to short center. But there’s no lane for Jasson. Stupid team,
Yay Trevi and 2 time league BA champion day.
One didn’t Boone pull Wells after the big inning?
