    1. They should go with the same “hit a franchise record number of home runs so you don’t need to worry about the 13th pitcher” strategy going forward.

    1. He does that a lot. Maybe he’s afraid to get behind because he can’t hit breaking balls.

  1. … batting right, be looks like a total spaz.

This has been his pattern, yet the whiz bang Yankees development people never noticed, or if they did, they just shrugged.

  2. Boone needs to have a quick hook, hit, or BB, or error. Pitchers tend to droop after losing a no-no or perfecto. As it is only a 2-run game. The Yankees/Boone needs to win this game first and foremost.

  3. Is the Rays’ other catcher hurt? I can’t imagine why they would let Feduccia hit there. Weaver just ate him up and spit him out.

Great job, but shitty managing by Boone. It keeps Weaver from being available for more games against Boston.

    1. I think it’s technically his THIRD blown save, but that Marlins game was kind of weird. It was the seventh inning on his first game with the team.

    1. He keeps expanding the zone, takes a game or two off doing that, then he’s right back at it.

  4. He is objectively, statistically, the least valuable pitcher in the history of this franchise. No other pitcher has done more damage per inning pitched than this bum.

    1. The way the minors go, everyone plays shortstop until the Majors, and then they move to second or third, so short is where all of the talent is congregated. The top six prospects on the Top 100 are all shortstops. As the listing notes, the #24 overall prospect on the list can’t even hit the Top 10. Lombard is somewhere around #30 or so.

    2. Lombard was 45 overall on ESPN, Schlittler 69, Spencer 81. Schlittler will possibly move up at season’s end.

  5. Katie S Giancarlo Stanton Last 30 Games:
    .362 BA, .429 OBP, .830 SLG
This is 2nd time in his career he’s had any 30-game span with at least .360 BA, .420 OBP and .825 SLG.
He also did it July 26-August 27, 2017

Giancarlo Stanton Last 7 PA as a Pinch Hitter:

    Home Run (Aug 20) ✅
    Walk (Aug 17) ✅
    Single (Aug 10) ✅
    Walk (Aug 8) ✅
    GIDP (Aug 5) 😞
    Double (July 18) ✅
    Home Run (July 10) ✅

    1. Was looking at Stanton’s HOF case. For now, the best argument is Harold Baines. But if he reaches 500 HR, I think he’ll have a decent chance. Not because of the milestone itself, but because it would mean another couple of healthy and productive seasons

It’s kinda crazy that Judge has spent barely half as long in MLB as Stanton, has 30% fewer PA, and yet has compiled 25% more career WAR.

  6. If I’m not mistaken DWilliams has stuck out 11 of the last 16 batters he’s faced, with one walk and two hits. Ok both hits came last night in the 10th and nearly caused some of us a coronary….
