GAME 1
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (#18, 27, RHP, 9-6, 2.85) vs. Cam Schlittler (#31, 25, RHP, 9-5, 2.05)
Let’s see if they can maybe pull off a split.
Probably not.
Honestly, I’m not even that down on them for getting swept by the Dodgers. If they lose to the Pirates and Phillies, then I’ll be down on them.
I’m not down on them if they get swept, I’m down on them for stinking. The Martian batting third, Schumann 5th, phenom 7th and Sánchez. That’s not the lineup of a major league team fighting for a playoff spot. Last 30 days 29th in runs scored and BA.
He Cam, he saw, he struck out the side.
Sometimes the right fielder forgets to watch the game and is thinking about dinosaurs.
Schumann with 11 games career in Right Field and a lifetime OPS of 624 staring and batting 5th. Cash knows how to build a team.
Yamamoto 16 pitches thru 2. A fish rots at the head first.
Saw that coming a mile away.
The keep throwing home when they have zero chance.
Looked like a LF arm in center.
A #9 hitter batting over 900. What a concept.
In the presser on Friday somebody asked Boone a question to the effect of the Dodgers play the game right by which he meant well, implying the Yankees don’t. Boone got visibly uptight saying with rancor “thanks for that.”
Yamomoto schooling Schlittler.
And maybe really schooling him. This could be good for Schlittler in the long run.
So weird that I expected Grisham to be a great fielder and a lousy hitter.
If you believe in clutch, you have to believe Grisham is one of those guys.
If.
Why are they challenging strike one counts in the 4th with no one on? That might’ve cost Cole the game Friday when Wells was hesitant to challenge and use his last challenge on Muncy. Doesn’t Boone have any restrictions?
But he shouldh’t have been hesitant there, either. That was NUTS.
What exactly was Wells waiting for – that late in a key situation?
Not even close to hitting him.
It did NOT hit him at all.
Crazy.
Well, that was just bad luck.
Yes the Yankee hitters are bad, but are they also stupid at the plate? Where are Rowson and Boone?
Right there with them, pitch by pitch.
Stupidity is not a matter of luck, it is the outcome of design.
Bellinger last 30 games 211/581. Another serious disappointment. Five more years.
The new DJ LeMahieu?
Only Grisham and phenom hit the ball hard. Yankees in permanent tip your hat mode. Maybe they can design a self tipping hat.
US Patent No. 556,248 has you covered.
If you want to see excellently pitched games, pitchers at their best, Yankee games are your ideal ticket.
Awful job by Cam, awful. And Yamamoto was at 29 pitches through 3 innings. Yankees offensive offense strikes again.
Offense = offence.
Okay, Rice.
Oh, Jasson. The shattered illusions.
Another hitter they ruined.
Schoo is lookng like the best hitter on this team right now.
Actually taking pitches.
It really feels like they’re down 22 to 1.
This is like a nice stress free outing for Yamamoto
But Jake Bird just had eleventy million scoreless innings in a row.
Was it a month ago that the Yankees had the best offense in the league? A bit more? Seems like decades now.
With his pitch count, I see no reason Yamomoto can’t pitch the night game, too.
Not a fan of Roberts, but this Dodgers team seems like a good team to root for.
They field pretty well. They hit well. They pitch well. They play smart.
And they have Ohtani.
Looks like fun.
That’s the Doval I know!
Can’t believe we’re getting punished with a second one of these games today.
Why is Bird still here? Only Cashman knows for sure.
Why is bird on this team?
Hysterically funny that that traded for his last year to help the bullpen! Cashman is way way beyond his sell- by date. Seriously, how many terrible moves has he made and yet gets to keep his job. Judge covered up alot of his stupidity; and as soon as he’s out of the lineup is becomes obvious (2023, 2026)
Hal is the bigger problem. He refuses to put in the work to find a young, up-and-coming GM.
As surprised as we are that phenom is still here, how is Bird and his 5.93 era, 27 last year, still here. Or Doval and his 5 era.
cashman is never wrong, he’s just not right YET!
Got to get Bellinger going. And Jazz, phenom, Wells, McMahon, Rosario, The Martian, Doval and Bird going.
I’m beginning to think Jasson is from Kansas not Mars.
A pity run
The Red Sox are closing in on 4 behind the Yankees in the loss column. If they hang on to win, and the Yankees lose two, then it will be three games in the loss column.
From Katie S —
Yankees last 10 home games:
1 win, 9 losses
-41 run differential
Seasons where Yankees had span of 10 home games with 1 win or fewer and outscored by 40+ runs:
2026
1986
1912
1911
Boone “Obviously we got to do more. We got to do a better job of finding those heavy at bats. A tough part of the order for Bird. I feel like we have good people in there.”
What’s Boone supposed to say? That the team has major holes and he’s an idiot?
He’s not going to say anything but good things about his players.
And the essence of being an idiot is being unaware of the fact that you’re an idiot.
Lombard 997 in June, 340 June/July, he’s not ready but our middle/corner infielder are all degrees of awful so it just might be worth the gamble.
Bird gets the runs but Camilo Doval threw 31 pitches. 10 of them were strikes.
The tenure of Bird and Doval is inexplicable.
Yarbrough to start game 2. Kevin Castro up. The lineup:

Jake Bird optioned.
Again. He’ll be back
Once, twice, let’s lose thrice. Go, team!
Seriously, does anyone think cashman has the brains to fix this team? Last year he traded for a $16m a year 3b who can’t hit, 2 relief pitchers who have negative WAR since the trade, plus Bednar and Caballero. I vote a hard NO. Stop wasting your time watching this crap. Without judge they’re nothing.
Cashman allowed the farm system to get in disrepair for a decade, and the international area has been a horror show that they have finally attempted to clean up.
We got our quota. I was looking forward to phenom hitting with the bases loaded and two out.
When was the last time they strung together 5 or 6 hits for runs, not including a HR?
I like how phenom dropped to his knee like he made hard contact. He popped up.
Hurt with a 5 era.
Jasson Domínguez pops out softly to shortstop Mookie Betts.
Chatty tv crew
“Jose Caballero who has great speed with two on,” huh?
Walking Volpe and Wells, plus a wild pitch, how will they screw this up?
How will they not?
Well done Jose, 245/688.
Usually the most likely result is realized.
The usual RISP Fail.
“This is bad.”
You have to be special to be this bad with RISP. An art form of their own.
Yankees have outdone their own mediocrity. Jasson and Jazz suck
Dodgers are like a cat playing with a mouse before he kills it.
phenomenal Katie S
after his 5th inning strikeout tonight, Anthony Volpe is now 1-20 (.050) and has 9 K with 2 Outs and Runners In Scoring Position this season.
Who didn’t know that was coming?
Just a matter of time. Edman>>Jazz
Jazz is a free agent at year end? He’s costing himself millions. Then again I said that last year about DevW and some stupid team bailed him out. It just takes one stupid GM/owner.
At least Cruz gave up the home run before v the walks
.
I’m glad I’m out or Id break to the TV
Jazz solo HR for the lead.
Jasson 229/661.
Followed by more RISP Fail.
Never in doubt
Yay win. Boo Yankees suck.
Wow, they won.
Just a game and a half out of first place.
The only game they didn’t hold the Dodgers’ offense down was the game that they effectively punted (and thank goodness they finally sent Bird down. Hopefully Doval is sent down when they make a trade deadline deal). With this pitching, they only need a TEENSY bit of offense to be quite good. Hopefully Cashman will address that at the deadline.
That said, holy shit, please please please please send Volpe down and call Spencer Jones up. Spencer Jones was NOT good during his time here, but hell, he at least has a fucking CHANCE. Max Schuemann batting fifth and playing right field is absolutely INSANE. You want to platoon Schuemann and Cabby at short (or have Cabby play third and Schuemann play short against lefties)? Go right ahead, but do NOT play Schuemann in the fucking outfield!
And just 4 1/2 up on Boston. This offense is awful. Jasson, sadly, is awful. phenom is awful. Wells is awful.
I mean, sure, if Boston never loses another game again, they’ll be a problem.
I don’t mind Martian continuing to get burn, but yes, him batting, like, third, is absurd.
They need to add one bat that can bat in the top four.
Grisham/Rice/Belli/Goldy is obviously who is going to have to carry the offense, so if you could add ONE more bat to that mix, that’d be HUGE. Then, when Judge comes back, it’ll be a game-changing lineup.
It would have been nice had Judge reported his injury right away. He likely worsened it by not doing so and playing some 29 games after the initial injury.
Oh, totally. It’s fucking absurd how these morons just don’t report their fucking injuries.
Talkin’ Yanks
Spencer Jones and Jasson Dominguez are two of the main players that the Yankees plan to use as trade assets with the deadline two weeks from tomorrow
Gotta make room for Max Schuemann in the 2027 outfield.
What value does Jasson have?
He’s still only 23
There must be GMs that look at failed Yankee hitting prospects and think “With the right coaching …”
