  10. I’m sure he’ll be okay longterm, but Jazz just had to leave the game after fouling a ball off of his balls. So you can imagine how much that must have hurt if you can’t even stay in the game.

    1. Yeah must’ve been brutal. Jermaine Dye fractured tibia. Matt Carpenter fractured left foot.

    Don’t get me wrong, Hill was the psycho who got them into the mess in the first place, and he deserves most of the blame for the inning, but going to Doval there was just INSANITY.

    1. Well, honestly, it’s not as if anyone here knew that could go so wrong!

    1. Because Doval, when he’s on, looks like an All-Star. Bird I don’t think they necessarily DO think he’s anything more than a middle of the road guy. He was pitching in the ninth inning of a 12-4 game, ya know?

    And, again, this is mostly on Hill for back-to-back HBPs. So I can’t rip Boone TOO much. But it was still a terrible decision. Hill is MUCH better with the bases loaded.

  32. I’d legit rather Jake Bird or Paul Blackburn a day after pitching a few innings there than Doval. It’s just the absolute WORST choice to bring into a situation with the bases loaded and the top of the order up .

  34. Doval era 5.27. Bird 5.32. Doval throws hard and his WHIP is good but it seems like he always folds in high leverage situation.
    Cash figures eventually Doval and Bird will justify their acquisitions. Using Bird and Doval is like Martingale managing.

    1. I 100% didn’t want him to come in, but I think it’s sillier to act like there is nothing to work with Doval. Bird, whatever, he’s a back of the bullpen guy, but Doval should be someone they could work with.

      Just not coming in with the bases loaded and one out in the 8th inning. That was just insanity.

  40. It seems he took out hill because grichuk has owned him, if you consider 4 for 8 with 2hrs owning. At least that’s what the guys in the radio post game said.

    1. Eh, fair enough, I guess. Again, it’s mostly on Hill hitting BACK TO BACK guys. That was just insane. I can’t even give Boone too much shit. Who was coming in with the bases loaded and one out that wasn’t going to give up ANY runs?

      This is more on the offense getting shut down by Sean Burke, and I guess about Venable’s unusual opener strategy working out well.

  41. Kirschner Camilo Doval basically can’t get left-handed hitters out this season. It is a major issue that the Yankees have to figure out.
