    Yovanny Cruz is making his first spring appearance and holy hell.

    14/15 pitches were some type of fastball and he sat 100.6 on his sinker, maxed out at 101.5.

    Struck out Matt Olson and Austin Riley with basically only his triple digit sinker and 90 mph cutter.

  7. Kirschner Gerrit Cole will make his spring training debut tomorrow, another key step in his return from Tommy John surgery.

    Aaron Boone: “The fact that he’s getting into a game now kind of indicates where he is and how well it is going. I don’t want people to think we’re speeding this thing up or anything. That’s not the case. It’s just — he’s ready to do this.”

    1. I think you have to have Winquest on the roster. He’s looked good enough to not lose him. So that leaves just a single spot. If it’s not Bido, they lose Bido, so does it make any sense to just give Bido a look, and then cut him the moment he has a bad game?

  9. You know, I’m kind of pissed Aaron Judge said the WBC is “bigger and better” than the World Series. Not because I care that Judge is taking a shot at the World Series, but because I’ve had to hear comments from 3 of my Mets fans friends who joke “Of course Judge would think that. The WBC is his only chance to win something.”

    1. Judge’s statement was just about the crowd reaction. And it seems to be pretty plainly true, observation-wise, that the crowds HAVE been louder than World Series crowds:

      “It’s been bigger. The World Series I was in: The crowd here, the crowd we had when we played Mexico. It’s bigger and better than the World Series. The passion these fans have representing their country, representing their favorite players. There’s nothing like it. And that’s what you dream of as a kid.”

      Judge often says some pretty dumb shit, but I don’t think even Judge would ever think to say that the World Baseball Classic is “bigger and better” than the World Series.

    2. I’m not upset at his comments. I do understand what he means, its still a dumb comparison to make… but i dont care.

      I just care that his comments caused me to have to hear comments about his playoff/World Series performance…. and that the comments are true.

      I’d like that to stop being true.

  10. I’m not going to cheer for Roman Anthony hitting a home run or Whitlock throwing a scoreless inning. I didn’t give a rat’s ass that Ohtani struck out Trout last WBC.
