Call me old fashioned, but I’d rather Witt lead off, Trout bat third, Rice bat cleanup, and Langeliers bat seventh.
I’d also rather Judge bat second.
Today I learned that Yankees can get hits with RISP, as long as it doesn’t count.

Rice getting a solid base hit off the best LHP in MLB is another argument for calling Spencer Jones back up and playing him every day. Let him learn, move Grisham to LF, Belli to 1B, and Rice to C, and you’ve solved a major problem while building for the future.

Yeah, that’ll never happen, but I think at the VERY least, just having Jones around to pinch hit and get an occasional start would be such a nice upgrade over their current pathetic bench of Rosario, Sanchez, Volpe, and Schuemann.
Rosario is the worst fielder in baseball, and he just strikes out EVERY AT-BAT nowadays.

Nice. I’d love for him to make like Jeter and also win MVP in the World Series this year, but the only way that’s happening is if he returns to LA before the trade deadline.
The way the game is now played, the ASG MVP is the stupidest award in baseball. One first inning hit in a game makes you the MVP?
The absence of Misiorowski, Yamamoto, Skenes, and Ohtani from the NL pitching staff may have made as valuable of a contribution as any individual AL batter.
There was a time when the starters often went 3 innings and the star hitters got 4 or 5 ABs.
Winfield played 13 innings in the 1987 ASG after having a huge first half and then stunk for the second half of the season.

I do agree on that. Very often it’s down to the same scenario as this game, “This guy was 1-2 with two ribbies, but this guy was 1-2 with a home run.”

• Shocking that two guys just drafted are in their top 7 in a top 10 list. Says a lot about the farm system, as those guys haven’t thrown a pitch in MiL ball yet.

• I think a few other pitchers who have played in 2026 should be on their top 10 list.
That a #35 and #60 draft choices as well as a 19 yo with 2 PAs this season are in the top 10 says a lot about our system.

The New York Yankees are reportedly negotiating a $3 billion financing package with Apollo Global Management.
The proposed transaction features a mix of debt and equity, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The baseball franchise plans to use the fresh capital to refinance existing obligations and fund future expansion projects.
Nothing gets me more excited as a baseball fan than hearing that my favorite team will FINALLY be able to refinance existing obligations.
It’s hilarious how the only way the Steinbrenners can make REAL money is by taking loans off of their highly appreciated asset that they constantly talk about how hard it is to spend money on.
I’m no finance expert, but there was a 6 period from 2009-2015 and another 2 year period ending in 2022 where all financing was effectively free. Especially for someone with assets and projectable cash flows.
If the Yankees didn’t structure their debt for the next quarter century or longer during either of those periods, how dumb and shortsighted were they?
To be getting into bed with charlatans who want to trick the financial system when debt costs as much as it does now reeks of desperation by the Yankees and also a continued lack of foresight. I won’t be surprised if we find Apollo bleeding Hal dry in the next 10 years while Hal becomes their biggest cheerleader.
They should have invested with Madoff when they had the chance.

A rival executive said the Mets informed their team that the sale is on, and that everyone but young stars Carson Benge, A.J. Ewing, Christian Scott, Nolan McLean and the obvious, Juan Soto, is available. That doesn’t mean everyone will go. How wonderfully incoherent.
So Judge will miss more time in 2026, then come 2027 and a strike or a lockout, and his career numbers will not be what they could have been. Between 2018, 2019, 2020 (played 28 of 60 games), and 2023, he missed a total of 198 games.
