Why in the world is it even a QUESTION of whether Cam pitches Game 1?
Way too many pitches. And the walk was pretty awful.
Yikes! Forty-one pitches through two innings.
It’s the classic example of perfect being the enemy of good. He’s trying to be perfect on every at-bat, and it’s killing him with wasted pitches.
At least he got out of it. And they didn’t moronically throw to second on the steal.
Cam has the second-worst run support among qualifiers at 3.24.
Why not have Belli play center, Ramos in left and Rosario at right so that we could see Volpe play third in a real game?
Cam Schlittler finished the 2026 season with a 1.16 road ERA… it’s the second-lowest ERA on the road in American League HISTORY.
Mind you… the lowest was all the way back in 1913.

Going from 0-2 to walking the fucking NUMBER NINE hitter to LEAD OFF THE INNING is certainly an approach.

MLB is typically the “official” take, and they have it as unearned. It SHOULD be unearned, since Diaz only went to second because of the error, and he wouldn’t have scored from first on the Caminero single otherwise.
Recalling Cam’s last start, I’ve never understood why a pitcher’s fielding error makes a run unearned.

The logic on a pitcher’s error is that the second the ball leaves a pitcher’s hand he’s a fielder. It seems weird to me but that’s the stated reason.
Who cares if they win, I just would like Cam to not lose. So tying it here would be nice.
