This is the first time ever that Cole and Fried have been in the rotation at the same time. Let’s hope that they make it a good memory!
I can barely remember vintage Max Fried, its been so long (as he was obviously pitching hurt back in May).
Spencer Jones batting third sure does irritate me.
Mitch Keller 5.14 era. Can he get it under 5?
A six pitch first for Keller. Must be a Rowson/Boone attack plan.
Rice’s at-bat, in particular, was truly embarrassing.
Looks like another tough luck loss for Cole but when you face pitchers like Yamamoto and Keller you need to be perfect.
I think Keller isn’t a bad pitcher, but holy shit, is this embarrassing.
Goddammit, he hit that so well. FUCK. How did that stay in the air that long?!
Jesus Christ, what fucking awful luck this inning. At least they’re clearly seeing him better now.
Jazz is such a fucking idiot.
Good eye Jazz. At least it was strike 3.
Back to back walks to start the inning followed by Yankee pathos.
What a terrible call. How is this still an unreviewable judgment call?! We can tell if a soccer player’s toe is offsides, but we can’t tell if a dude swung or not?!
Game over
Déjà vu.
Again with the fucking two run home run. Gotta do better than that, Cole.
So, yeah, this game is over.
Holy shit, what’s with these terrible challenges?!
These choking fucking assholes.
Why, by the way, IS Jones batting third? I like him on the team, but not THIRD.
Yankees so bad. 0-5 RISP,6 LOB.
Red Sox, of course, are already well ahead of the Orioles in their game.
Everybody on Boston is hitting. Except for isolated instances no one on the Yankees can hit. OTOH there are only a few Yankees Rice, Jazz, Cody and Rice who you can even hope to hit. Yoshida Last 15 1000+, Raff 725, Abreu 1000+. Contreras 1150+, Durbin 850.
You said Rice twice.
I approve.
Too many Gonzaleses. Gonzales’s? Gonzalae?
While the offense has clearly choked, you also can’t give up multiple home runs and expect to win
I’m afraid this is who Cole has become.
Three runs in 7 against a good hitting team.
Ah, the usual Yankees offense at work. Thanks, Aaron.
These choking fucking assholes.
Okay, except for this guy.
Our one true major leaguer.
As expected Yankees got Keller’s era under 5
No Rosario? Why’s he here if not to hit there?
For defense, so McMahon can miss a ball hit one foot to his right in the top of the ninth.
Somehow that was scored a hit.
Well, okay, Rice is nice.
A guy who can’t hit is supposed to make that play. Rosario could be done that.
Totally get hitting for Wells here, but the guy has been on base three out of three today
Fifteen in a row for the Bosox.
Over. Thanks, Cruz, ugh.
that was exactly the kind of hit you’ll never see this team get
I don’t think Cruz can ever be the first guy in in a tie game ever again.
You underestimate Boone.
Whatever it takes to keep slip sliding away.
And, of course, this is where Castro will get his first (only?) appearance of the season.
I don’t even blame Boone for using him here. You SHOULD be able to expect Cruz to not be dogshit. Just never again.
Attaboy, Castro, so they can lose by one!
Castro, sí; Cruz, no.
Can none of these guys fucking see the strike zone!?
Let’s stink two!
3-1 popup as the tying run. These choking motherfuckers.
Choking or sucking?
Yankees radio guy Yankees have not been hitting TODAY
Clutch popups to end the game by Dominguez and Chisholm. Fuck these fucking choking losers.
I consulted Claude, Grok, and Open AI they all had the same output. YANKEES STINK!
I guess Cole WAS pretty good. So that’s something. And Rice can hit a little. The rest of it was awful.
That was a fantastic bottom of the 10th. 😔
I can’t get over HOW bad that inning was. Like, even for them, that was awful. A normal bad final inning would be like their game against the Dodgers, where they just went down easily.
This was a lot more embarrassing because Bellinger first challenges an obvious strike, and then Dominguez and Jazz both worked the count to three balls before popping up like losers.
But are you surprised?
Well, like I said, they just had a normal bad inning against the Dodgers. So I hoped if they lost, it would have been just that. Three groundballs or flyballs in a row or whatever.
Yankees now 1-6 in xtras, 1-10 RISP today, 2-19 with runners on, 202 RISP since Judge went down. Now that’s CHOKING. As I remember they have some kind of infinitesimal BA with the Manfred Man.
Yeah, agreed. This game was more about choking than sucking overall. They got guys on base a lot. They just choked.
Both.
Jason 230/657.
One player: 165/578; second player: 163/524.
I don’t follow any other team regularly so I may be lacking in perspective, but the Yankees have now been abysmal with RISP for what seems like at least four or five seasons. At what point is it an organizational level problem?
Last year they were 5th. 2024 they were 2nd. This year they are 12th. 2023 they were just plain ol’ bad period, but also really bad in RISP (29th). 2022 they were 9th. 2021 they were 28th. 2020 they were 5th. 2019 they were 1st.
So they’re not as bad as they make me think they are because I can’t keep my adolescent emotions under control. That makes sense, but it doesn’t make me feel any better. Thank you.
Random or not?
Katie S Fernando Cruz has pitched in Extra Innings in 4 games this season. In those extra innings:
15 batters faced
6-11 (.545), 1 SF, 3 BB, 1 K, 6 RBI allowed
Boone will learn, maybe, perhaps, not.
Yeah, holy shit, Boone, I get it, Cruz has been excellent this season, but PLEASE STOP USING HIM IN EXTRAS.
It’s a beautiful day! Let’s lose two.
I’m still laughing over the Realmuto baserunning blunder last night (had to watch it again). Definitely a Posada Baserunning Award for that.

It was truly insane.
Great throw tag.
First game starter era+ 85. Second game 92. We could sweep if we take advantage.
I was afraid of this, that they’d all start hitting at once. Oh, wrong team, sorry.
That’s a lot of mediocre starters since Washington that the Yankees couldn’t lay a bat on.
I haven’t seen so much sucking since The Deep Throat Marathon
What channel is that marathon on? Asking for a friend.
Who is me.
On paper this team is bad, just not this bad. Fire James Rowson. Even two of their better hitters Jazz and Cody are underperforming their OPS by 40-50 points.
They made three outs on eight pitches in the bottom of the 5th.
Bubba Chandler pitching like Spud Chandler in1943 and the Yankees hitting like last year’s White Sox
Thanks, Judge.
Eleven pitches for three outs in the bottom of the sixth. Improvement!
Why is Volpe on this team?!
New technique phenom?
Pretty please just send Volpe down.
Sanchez’s error but phenom couldn’t knock that down?
PGold swing at a pitch over his head.
Jazz takes the dumbest swings.
Why he’s at 225/715.
Jasson doubles, and they score a run, hurrah for the run!
Pigs can fly, Volpe with an RBI single.
Honestly, those should’ve both been closer plays at the plate.
But I’ll take it.
I don’t think Cody tries to score if Reynolds fields it cleanly.
Katie S Anthony Volpe’s RBI single in the 7th was his 2nd hit with RISP and 2 outs this season (other was June 14).
He’s now hitting 2-22 (.091) with RISP and 2 outs.
phenom’s been spending extra time with Rowson. It’s paying off.
Will Warren? And right off the bat, he gives up a leadoff single.
Goes 0-2 on Valdez, then walks him, two on, two out. Classic Will Warren.
Tim Hill. 😱
Yay, win.
phenom with a double clutch. Now Jazz. Lucky to have the call stand, bad job by Jazz.
Lucky as all fuck to win that one.
But I’ll take it.
I can’t get over how bad of a play that was by Jazz with the game on the line.
Inexcusable.
That’s Jazz.
“Game’s on the line, let me just lollygag this one.”
unexplainable
Four runs in Sunday’s doubleheader, five today against two mediocre starters. Ain’t gonna do it.
The Bosox finally lose a game.
Lombard 3-4 tonight, 997 OPS June, hitting 690 for Scranton in July (1725 OPS that includes rookie league rehab games).
Fried was excellent; glad they didn’t end up wasting his five good innings.
He really was OUTSTANDING. He looks like his normal self like he DIDN’T back in May.
Amazing how no one mentioned this earlier. I guess the Yankees are stunning people with her offensiveness.
There was just too much tension about the offense doing nothing to even celebrate Fried’s awesomeness, and man, he truly was AWESOME. It was one of the best performances he’s had since he got here.
I think Boone, temporarily, is loosing confidence in Doval.
Fool Boone 16 times, shame on you. Fool him 17 times, shame on him!
Are we back from “too many requests”? Hadn’t been here in 30 minutes, and that error popped up and persisted.
Jazz Chisholm: streaky player, or the streakiest?
i like jazz, i just wish he was as good as he thinks he is.
