  1. Everybody on Boston is hitting. Except for isolated instances no one on the Yankees can hit. OTOH there are only a few Yankees Rice, Jazz, Cody and Rice who you can even hope to hit. Yoshida Last 15 1000+, Raff 725, Abreu 1000+. Contreras 1150+, Durbin 850.

    1. For defense, so McMahon can miss a ball hit one foot to his right in the top of the ninth.

    1. I can’t get over HOW bad that inning was. Like, even for them, that was awful. A normal bad final inning would be like their game against the Dodgers, where they just went down easily.

This was a lot more embarrassing because Bellinger first challenges an obvious strike, and then Dominguez and Jazz both worked the count to three balls before popping up like losers.

    2. Well, like I said, they just had a normal bad inning against the Dodgers. So I hoped if they lost, it would have been just that. Three groundballs or flyballs in a row or whatever.

  2. Yankees now 1-6 in xtras, 1-10 RISP today, 2-19 with runners on, 202 RISP since Judge went down. Now that’s CHOKING. As I remember they have some kind of infinitesimal BA with the Manfred Man.

  3. I don’t follow any other team regularly so I may be lacking in perspective, but the Yankees have now been abysmal with RISP for what seems like at least four or five seasons. At what point is it an organizational level problem?

    1. Last year they were 5th. 2024 they were 2nd. This year they are 12th. 2023 they were just plain ol’ bad period, but also really bad in RISP (29th). 2022 they were 9th. 2021 they were 28th. 2020 they were 5th. 2019 they were 1st.

  4. So they’re not as bad as they make me think they are because I can’t keep my adolescent emotions under control. That makes sense, but it doesn’t make me feel any better. Thank you.

  5. Random or not?

Katie S Fernando Cruz has pitched in Extra Innings in 4 games this season. In those extra innings:
    15 batters faced
    6-11 (.545), 1 SF, 3 BB, 1 K, 6 RBI allowed

  6. On paper this team is bad, just not this bad. Fire James Rowson. Even two of their better hitters Jazz and Cody are underperforming their OPS by 40-50 points.

  7. Katie S Anthony Volpe’s RBI single in the 7th was his 2nd hit with RISP and 2 outs this season (other was June 14).

He’s now hitting 2-22 (.091) with RISP and 2 outs.

phenom’s been spending extra time with Rowson. It’s paying off.

    1. Amazing how no one mentioned this earlier. I guess the Yankees are stunning people with her offensiveness.

    2. There was just too much tension about the offense doing nothing to even celebrate Fried’s awesomeness, and man, he truly was AWESOME. It was one of the best performances he’s had since he got here.
