Welp, let’s settle in for a nice butt whooping this weekend.
Baseball!
O’Neill AND Cone )))
The A Team
Dodgers six hitters 800 or higher, none lower than 700, their 8/9 812/899. Yankees two hitters 800 or higher (PG @ 809), five hitters under 700, our 8/9 656/505.
Cole better be great.
Lombard hitting leadoff today for Scranton.
Sixteen pitch first for Cole.
Which is fine, 15 being the standard. Would take him into the 7th inning.
So Judge will miss more time in 2026, then come 2027 and a strike or a lockout, and his career numbers will not be what they could have been. Between 2018, 2019, 2020 (played 28 of 60 games), and 2023, he missed a total of 198 games.
Boone referencing Judge- we have a lot of capable players. Name 5.
I don’t think playing PGold every day will work out. I’m in favor of, for the short term, having a modified platoon of Spence and PGold. But that would mean phenom, Schumann, or Rosario go down.
don’t threaten me with a good time
cole still has the velocity, just needs to sharpen up a little.
Lombard with a leadoff home run. He had a 997 OPS in June.
It’s weird that Jasson who has never done anything seems like such a major disappointment.
Wells should be bunting whenever there’s a man on and no out.
Well that was fucking hideous
Stinking with RISP again.
Belli swinging at a pitch over his head.
Jason heard Bop and was ashamed.
Fried 3ip 2r 5h 3K. Lombard thru 4, 2-2 with a home run and a walk. Might he be ready this year?
A lucky run. We’ll take it.
Wells got robbed, and he can’t afford to have that happen.
Bad hitting and bad luck.
Cole giving up a lot of fly balls and pop ups. So far nothing has left the park. Ohtani came close.
Impressive Cole,
Unless the Dodgers picked up Matt Krook on waivers, we’re not going to score again.
Last Friday 2 runs thru 8, Saturday no runs thru 7, Sunday 2 runs thru 7, tonight 1 run thru 6. Great strategy.
I can’t blame Boone for leaving him in. OTOH Boone was wrong.
If Cone had a phone to talk to Boone, they could’ve pulled Cole. Cone noticed Cole was missing.
This offense sucks. Washington threw so many crappy pitchers and we couldn’t do anything until they saw rhe dregs of a very bad pen. The worst of the worst.
What price can I get on not making the playoffs? One great hitter, a couple of decent to good hitters, and a lot of mediocrity.
Last 30 days Yankees 27th in runs scored and 29th in BA.
Jazz 224/697 what an overrated POS. Swings at ball 4.
“Despite having the ability to go to Rosario, or Volpe, or Schumann…” Despite having the ability to drink paint thinner……
Sasaki came into the game with a 5.33 era, no earned runs thru 7. And no one is surprised.
Post ASB same as pre ASB. As I said the other day, Dodgers pitchers will lower their ERAs. Sasaki came in with an ERA of 5.33 and lowered it to 4.98. Yankees hitters are good for what ails opposing teams SP ERA’s.
The last 5 guys in the lineup are 8/9 hitters on a good team and on the bench or at AAA for the Dodgers.
The Dodger second baseman is hitting 343/904 and batting 9th.
I don’t know how much blame is on Rowson, how much on Boone, but mostly on Cashman. Sure Judge was bad luck, but Stanton beyond predictable.
Rosario 1-11, last 30 games 211. The key guy off the benc
Whatever. Sounds like Grish didn’t get a good read and then hesitated.
This seems Like a bad move by Roberts.
Doing whatever it takes to lose.
Grish was jogging between first and second, didn’t go full speed until he was headed home.
OTOH I don’t think the Yankees execute that play.
Fifty fifty ain’t what it used to be.
“Hey, Cole and the bully will hold the Dodgers to 2!”
:monkey’s paw curls into a middle finger:
The Dodgers have this great team and the second rated farm system. They have the prospects to get Skubal or Miller. Pitching aside the Yankees have a mediocre team and the 26th rated farm system in baseball. Heckuva FO we got.
Same as it has been.
Katie S As a Yankee (since 2024) in the regular season, Grisham has now been on 1st when a double was hit 21 times.
He has scored twice on those 21 plays.
Entering Friday night’s game, Trent Grisham had successfully take an extra base only 23% of the time.
That ranked 145th out of 151 qualified MLB players.
Curry said at the time he would’ve pinch run for Grisham. Until I saw these numbers I disagreed.
Awful, and he probably is a bad influence on other players. The NY Yankees, wrongly doing the little things.
In Major League Baseball, a runner on first base scores on a double approximately 44%, Grisham scores 14%. How bad is that?
Cx Grisham has scored 9.5%.
Cashman knows what he’s doing. 🤪
One might think speed would be an asset for a center fielder and in Grisham’s case he’s at the 35th percentile in terms of of fielding run value and -2 OAA for 2026. He’s a decent hitter a deeply negative base runner and a mild liability defensively. From 2020 thru 2023 he was an elite centerfielder but Cashman’s Grisham is here.
Kirschner Max Muncy would have struck out before his 2-run HR had Austin Wells challenged. Wells took me through his thought process on why he didn’t challenge, as Aaron Boone took blame for the Yankees’ gut-wrenching loss to Los Angeles.
Wells told The Athletic that he would have been more aggressive with challenging in the moment had the Yankees had two Automatic Ball-Strike challenges remaining instead of one.
And he only had one because Grisham chose to challenge a strike one pitch to start the inning.
The little things that the Yankees do so poorly. Judge covered up a lot of Cashman mistakes.
Red Sox swept the Rays and they are now 5 behind the Yankees in the loss column.
They got so lucky with Judge.
Take him away, and you see what they really have built.
The point of having Judge supposed to be making you that much better.
It ISN’T supposed to be that you compensate by being not as good everywhere else.
Dax sighting 0-1 with a K and a bb at FCL.
spencer jones is probably gone in a dumb cashman trade but i enjoyed his last cup of coffee.
but at least i can look forward to many more underperforming pickups in the future.
Spencer is probably a better centerfielder than Grisham now. Likewise Cody is a better centerfielder.. Grish 35th percentile fielding run value, 23rd percentile range, -2 OAA. Not what you want. At least he’s not wearing a boot. I’d bring up Spencer now and platoon him with PGold last 28 days 159/205/348 553 OPS (AND BATTING 3rd), Against RHPs he’s hitting 197/233/366 600 OPS. Spence may stink but he can probably outplay Grisham at center and outhit PGold against RHPs. Boone, Cash, and the whole FO are in denial.
Cashman never sleeps. The Yankees announced that 27 year old career minor league right-hander Bradley Hanner has been signed to a big league contract and optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Hanner was already in the organization and pitching at SWB.
2026 4-1 1.99 era, career 3.98.
