  1. Except they didn’t take advantage of “the extra out,” they took advantage of the right amount of outs (of not being gypped out of an out).

    1. They figure it lowers his expected FA value so he accepts the QO?

Come to think of it, how would an expected year-long work stoppage affect contracts, including strategy around QO’s?

    1. Even more unfortunately, the name was his choice when he had it changed from Balk.

  2. This pitcher is so bad. Usually when I tune in late it’s 0-0. He’s so bad phenom ent 400’ but not had enough for Wells to get a hit.

  3. Nice of Perez to use the challenge to make the pitcher throw just one extra pitch to walk Judge, which he clearly was going to do anyway.

  4. Been a while since we’ve seen this many runs, the most since May 4 when they put up 12 vs. the O’s. They had scored 48 runs in their last 16 games.

  5. It’s bittersweet to watch a perennial MVP candidate on another lackluster team, and to know that there’s not a snowball’s chance in Hades of his joining the Yankees, where he could play a position of significant need and maybe make the team a legit contender.

Trout was like that ten years ago. Witt is like that now.

It’s sort of a “the one that got away” feeling, though I’ve never really liked that phrase’s connotation of entitlement to romantic partnership. It should go without saying that every human deserves a full no-trade clause. (But apparently we needed a Constitutional amendment for that, and some folks still need reminders about it.)

    1. Noticed that last time out. Today just figure he’s pitching to contact with the big lead.

  6. If anything, today’s game is a pleasant reminder that this Yankees squad can hit AAA pitching, which I’m sure I couldn’t.

  7. Oooh a save for Yarbrough!

Can’t Rosario play left? Why not put him there and Caballero at 3B?

Also frankly if Rosario is gonna feast like this let him boot a few at the hot corner

  8. Katie S Yankees had 24 hard-hit batted balls (95+ mph exit velo) on Tuesday vs Royals.
That’s their most in any game in the Statcast era (since 2015).

After tonight’s game vs the Royals, Cam Schlittler has a 1.50 ERA.
That’s the 2nd-lowest ERA through 12 starts by any pitcher in Yankees history. The lowest is 1.46 by Ray Caldwell in 1914.
