Oh, man, I’m just scatting and going right on to town, Satchmo!

    1. That would be fine if he actually could bunt. And there’s no excuse for him not to be able to bunt.

    2. Oh, 100%. If bunting was something he normally did, then that’d be fine. Like, if Caballero tried to bunt for a hit, you’d say, “Oh, okay, that makes sense.” But when bunting ISN’T your thing, and you try to bunt to break a slump? That’s just pathetic.

    1. SO CHATTY. I love the guy, but he TALKS SO MUCH. Especially when it’s with a “lesser” play-by-play guy. I think he knows Kay long enough that he defers to him a bit, as Kay was already established here when Girardi first arrived in 1996.

  2. I saw a viral post about how Rice should be the starting first baseman next year. Wouldn’t he make so much more sense as the main side of a catching platoon with Wells? The benefit of having a catcher hit like Rice is HUGE.

    1. Granted, that was beyond grooved, as it was a hanging sinker. But still, the main thought applies. When you fall behind, you put yourself into a terrible position. Walking the #8 hitter, hitting the #9 hitter, it’s just a pathetic failure to take your craft seriously.

    1. I almost feel sorry for him but not sorry enough that I want to see him in the lineup.

    2. A BB and a HBP on the 8th and 9th place hitters are all on Warren, after the Volpe error.

  3. You have to KNOW the balls are flying, so the main thing you do is to NOT put runners on base. So you don’t walk the fucking #8 hitter and then hit the #9 hitter. It’s just so, so stupid.

And then falling behind the #2 hitter with the bases loaded and a really good hitter on deck. It’s just making your life so much harder than it needs to be.

  4. Meanwhile you can look the other way at Volpe not hitting but you can’t tolerate him not handling routine ground balls. He’s already exceeded his previous high in errors.

    1. Wow, pleasantly surprised that it was only THREE balls in a row after it was 1-2, and not four!

Honestly, I probably still bring Warren back to start the 6th at this point. Need the bullpen to not get too tired in Game 1 of a four-game series.

Well, BEST case scenario would be for them to just add on some more fucking runs. Then Camilo fucking Doval could finish things off.

  5. Grisham is making himself a lot of $. I just don’t think it should be here. He reminds me too much of hicks. Don’t sign a guy to a long term deal off of one good year
