Well, as you might imagine, this is a rather significant series for the ol’ Yankees.
It would be nice if they got good Rodón instead of the guy who normally shows up when they’re facing the Blue Jays.
Also, what is up with this fucking schedule that they go from four games in Toronto to, less than a month later, ANOTHER three games in Toronto!? What the fuck?!
Also, fuck you to the 7:07 start time. So weird.
It’s also surprising that Ted Williams 2.0, also known as Addison Barger, isn’t starting tonight, even against a lefty.
Are they losing yet?
Soon. Very soon.
Fuck Flash and his Yankees took two out of three and are coming in “with a little bit of momentum.” Momentum the most overused cliche in all of sports and especially meaningless in baseball. Flash should not be allowed to do big games.
Okay, it will have to wait until the second inning for the game to be lost.
90% catch probability on that double? Not with the route the Martian took, not that I’m clued in enough to say he should’ve taken a different route.
Walking an 095 hitter on 4 pitches!
Two pitches, two quick outs, the Yankees way.
Boone can’t tell Peraza to take a pitch or two in case he doesn’t have enough sense to do it on his own. And how the fuck long is a 146/447 hitter going to get regular at bats?
I like Jazz, but not as Judge’s protection. Need Belli or Stanton there.
Got to be LRLR as Bill James mandated.
Gee, thank goodness Stanton didn’t hit behind Judge. Imagine if they brought in a tough righty against them late in the game! Gasp! That would be AWFUL!
Three POS at bats surrounding a double and an IBB. Hey Cash are you waiting for Peraza’s to come along because Boone sees good things. And dead peo0le.
I assume Vivas is not starting because Gausman has reverse splits. The lowest qualifying OPS is 561, the lowest BA 184. Peraza is 146/447, splits are not a factor.
Not a ground ball.
Over the last 28 days Peraza has been somehow even worse 111/111/111=222. A 111 OBP!!
How do you walk an 095 hitter twice in 4 innings?
This is one of the most hilarious shutouts ever.
Judge missing a hanging splitter and Rodon searching for command. Yankees turning back the clock for Gausman.
Rodon was just bound and determined to eventually blow this game. What a fucking loser.
Not just Rodon.
Rodon at 81 pitches while actively collapsing is probably still a better pitcher than anyone in the bullpen.
Can’t stop sucking. WON’T stop sucking.
They get hits, Yankees don’t. Woo, Boyd, Imanaga, Strider and even Joey Wentz all starters who dominated.
DJ could’ve done that. Jazz could’ve done that. DJ at least would hit a weak270.
phenom is still a total choking piece of shit. This team plays so scared, chokes so much, that it’s gotta be on Boone.
Well, they weren’t winning 1-0 anyway.
They’re probably not even going to score two runs this game, so it really doesn’t matter, but my god, that was the most painful piece of shit inning ever with the TWO TWO-OUT FUCKING RUN-SCORING ERRORS.
What is it about Toronto that makes the Yankees defenders just all lose their fucking shit?!
As bop notes, this isn’t shitty defenders, this is just mental weakness. It’s choking to the nth degree.
After sucking, Rodon actually battled back, and his defenders just FUCKED HIM. Insanity.
You could just see Volpe looking scared on that play. He needs a sports psychologist.
phenom just tied Adames for most errors by a SS at 13. He was -2 OAA before this game in the34th percentile fielding but he is a bat first 681 OPS SS.
Every starter with a pulse, even Joey Wentz who doesn’t have one, shuts this team down.
Jazz and Judge both had a chance to put a different spin on this game and both failed miserably.
Did teams managed by Torre or Girardi play so miserably in big games?
The lineup is not why they’re sucking, but the lineup is so fucking stupid. Bellinger is pretty clearly their second best hitter, so why would you EVER sit him, especially in what is a nominally big game? Just play him at first base if you really want Grisham and Dominguez in the lineup. It’s so fucking stupid.
Meanwhile, Jazz Chisholm is obviously a very good player. But he’s a very good player because he gives you offense at second base, where few players give you offense. He’s definitely NOT the dude you want as Aaron Judge’s protection. Bellinger or Stanton have to be behind Judge. It’s just so fucking stupid.
Maybe but they get dominated a lot by good starters. And 789 is such a shit show. That takes a lot of pressure off starters.
Effross is shot due to his injuries, so he’s useless as a high leverage guy, but man, it’s nice to watch a dude who at least knows how to fucking pitch.
Classic! A six pitch inning by the Bronx Bummers.
Yankee hitters 12 strikeouts, Toronto hitters 4 strike outs.
At least the errors didn’t even fucking matter, because the offense also likes to choke just as much as the defense….okay, NO ONE can choke as much as the defense.
But at least the game would’ve been interesting for a while.
They would have burned Weaver, though, had they remained 2-1.
How do you spell pathetic? Y_A_N_K_E_E_S.
Last year phenom +14 OAA, this year -3.
Yankees 0-9 Al East Road games
Katie S Anthony Volpe now has 12 errors.
That’s the most by any AL player this
season.
Boone said he’s fucking elite.
he’s elite at making errors
Katie S
AL East vs AL East Standings
Red Sox 20-13
Blue Jays 17-13
Orioles 14-15
Rays 15-18
Yankees 10-17
A way past his use by date GM, and a manger who hasn’t learned anything in all the years of managing.
They need to figure out Volpe or cut bait, he’s been in decline since being a rookie and given way too many opportunities to show improvement. He’s speedy, but that’s it. He’s steadily hitting fewer LDs and more fly balls and his K-rate and BB-rate have been more or less steadily below average. I’m glad the Yankees avoided big time SS FAs because they had Volpe on the way. I’m not going to pretend that the future salaries of Seager, Machado, or whomever aren’t a potential liability, but if you’re going to go all-in with Judge and Cole’s prime years, picking around the edges and paying a lot for Stanton, DJLM, and Hicks, e.g. is foolish.
But the winning season streak is still alive. Yay.
He’s still cheap so it won’t happen now. And 3b is the bigger problem. If he had the talent to be +14 OAA last season but is -3 this season, that’s got to be a mental thing. He needs a sports psychologist or maybe he should grow a beard.
