Yankees.com: Domínguez’s day: ‘Martian’ becomes youngest Yankee with a 3-HR game

As he rounded the bases, even Jasson Domínguez couldn’t believe it. The young Yankees outfielder had never even hit TWO home runs in the same Major League game before Friday night, when his eighth-inning grand slam immediately turned a career-best night into a truly historic one.

“No way,” Domínguez told himself as he made the trot in front of a speechless, sellout crowd at Sutter Health Park. “There’s no way.”

There sure was a way, though. Not only did Domínguez’s grand slam break things open for the Yankees in Friday’s 10-2 win, but it made him — at 22 days, 91 years old — the youngest player in franchise history with a three-homer game. That mark was previously set by Joe DiMaggio (22 years, 200 days old) in 1937.

Well, I mean, that was pretty fucking cool, right?

Two of the Yankees’ brightest younger players both put on a show in this one, with Will Warren having by FAR his best outing of his career (and not against a shitty lineup, like his previous best start of his career against the White Sox) and The Martian, well, you know, as noted in the headline.

That bum Judge is now not even hitting .400, though, so that sucks (interestingly, though, two of his outs were on REALLY good contact that just were caught).

To think that they scored 10 runs after looking like bums in the first and second (stranding runners on second and third and no outs in the first, and second and third and two outs in the second) is just amazing.

I’ve been saying it a lot, but I really like the way Yorbit Vivas looks at the plate. He seems so COMFORTABLE there. I’m really glad they’re giving him a wide lane here to get regular at-bats at second. In fact, I’d still start him when LeMahieu returns. LeMahieu can split time with Waldo at third, with Vivas playing against righties, and maybe Peraza against lefties. Basically, you give LeMahieu and Waldo an even split at third (with LeMahieu getting all of the starts against lefties, and some of the starts against righties, then inching or lowering LeMahieu’s playing time depending on what he does in those games).

The Yankees interestingly don’t have a starter announced still for Sunday. I guess they want to see what shape the bullpen is in before letting Yarbrough start on Sunday, with Schmidt going Monday. If they need the bullpen, then I guess it’ll be Schmidt on Sunday and Yarbrough on Monday.
