Heaney dominated the Yankees the last time he faced them, so let’s hope they do better this time. And hopefully Warren pitches well enough that I could wishcast him pushing Stroman to the bullpen.
I approve of playing Grisham’s hot hand.
We need a left handed starter like Henry.
The Pirates are exactly the kind of team that IKF belongs on.
Mows them down, then 3 in a row.
People are so weird.
Was there an injury visit? GD shows two mound visits this inning.
I hate that they made a late scratch and got IKF in there.
When will these dudes learn not to walk the #9 hitter?
Warren struggling against a so-so lineup is not good, 87 pitches in 4 IP. Scrapheap pitchers do better.
Can they stretch Headrick out? He’s been nothing but outstanding so far this season.
On a lousy day, Volpe at .306.
The bunt wasn’t a terrible idea by Wells, but you gotta do a better job with the bunt if you’re going to bunt.
You gotta figure that any team that will play the Yankees in the playoffs will be looking to add Heaney at the trade deadline.
They better pinch hit Rice here.
HOW ARE THEY LETTING PERAZA HIT!?!?
This is just insanely bad managing.
It worked out, but they should have still pinch hit Rice there.
Okay fine play him.
Trent “Tony Gwynn” Grisham.
If Grisham can continue to hit like this, he might be an okay fourth outfielder.
Man, someone capable of getting a hit WITH RUNNERS ONLY IN SCORING POSITION!
Boone being bailed out on his bad decisions once again.
That’s exactly what we have to hope for.
I mean, Boone’s not going anywhere.
Imagine if Volpe finally puts it together, Rice has a breakout year, Chisholm is everything he looks like he can be, Wells doesn’t take a step back, and Bellinger and Goldschmidt both hit.
Oh, and Judge doesn’t throw an entire month on the trash heap.
Don would be right. We wouldn’t need no stinkin’ pitching!
Delayed CT
Heaney must be thrilled right about now.
I feel like Weaver is the only Yankee reliever I fully trust right now. Headrick has been great, but you can’t really feel like you TRUST him, can you?
I do like when Kay says “Free baseball! Bonus cantos!”
Ugh, Belli, way too aggressive.
Come on, Jazz!
Jazz is pretty much the last guy you want up in this situation.
Fucking Caleb Ferguson couldn’t pitch like this for the Yankees.
That was pretty fucking frustrating.
Had Belli not been a moron, they’d have Judge up with two men on. Just a really bad piece of hitting.
Smacked right up the middle – usually a classic base hit. But the second baseman was on the outfield grass AND in the middle of the infield.
I’d walk Cruz here 100%.
Yikes, Weaver, a four pitch walk!?
Two of 3 strikes called balls. Should be out of the inning.
That was a great putaway pitch though
Bart would have been a much better guy to have as the last out, since he’s a much slower runner, while Suwinski is fast. But hey, at least he got out of it.
Dammit.
I mean, I get it, not every team has this many lefthanded relievers, but holy shit, stop being so fucking terrible against lefties!
I love this stadium, but they really should be required by law to have a pirate ship somewhere, and a flag with the skull and crossbones somewhere else.
Thanks, IKF!
Grisham grand slam?
Goddamnit, Peraza. The only thing that would fuck the Yankees was no contact, and that’s what he did. The Pirates giftwrapped a run for them and they did nothing with it.
Well, it isn’t as if we haven’t seen this many, many times before.
Dammit. Grisham would have had the chance.
come ON
Classic Yankee CT. The strikeout when you need a sac fly, and a flyball when the sac fly was no longer in play.
Nailed it.
Grisham can’t do everything for this team. Oh well. I like watching Williams pitch when he’s being aggressive. Nibbling & missing his spots not so much.
It’s Tommy, fam
That’s why I really hated Weaver not getting Bart, as Suwinski is fast. So now they can win the game with a sac fly. Booo!
I mean, obviously that hit would have won the game no matter what.
what the fuck
should have walked Pham at 3-1
As good as Williams’ stats are, I keep going back to Alonso’s dissection of that at bat – he needs a pitch that does something else.
DW Bust
Yeah, with the runner on third, just walk the good hitter and go after the shitty guys behind him.
100%. But it’s hard to argue with a guy with his stuff going after people. Pham’s not bad, but he’s hardly Joe D.
The issue is that in that situation, guys like Williams are at a real disadvantage, since they know the batter just has to flick it into the outfield. They won’t necessarily make good contact, but they just need to get it out of the infield with the runner on third and less than two outs.
It really goes back to Weaver walking Bart inexplicably.
Classic Yankees extra inning’s loss.
It really was.
A year ago, they were at this point in time 3-15 on the road in extra inning games since 2022. Yeah, that is when managing shows itself.
I was going to look that up.
Dodgers all in on ‘we don’t need no stinkin’ starting pitching’ as Glasnow exits after 2 innings and Snell goes on the IL
Heads up!
It will be so cold in Detroit this week that MLB and the Tigers moved the start times up for the Yankees series. All day games now.

Given my time zone – I’ll take it!
I’m not going to act like there wasn’t some logic to getting Devin Williams, as obviously there was, but boy, I am 100% on board with keeping Weaver over Williams next season when they likely have to choose between the two.
Can’t disagree, but that could still change as the year goes on.
Luke Weaver was a decent reliever last year, but we can’t ignore his career before the Yankees. The only reason to prefer him is because he is cheap. If you are talking handing out free agent closer money to people, Weaver isn’t really an attractive option anymore. I’m not saying I would want to go long term on Williams either, but neither is an option.
Weaver being cheaper to sign IS a major factor, yes.
Williams threw 7 changeups out of 9 pitches to Pham. Other than Mo can anyone survive on 1 pitch.
Last year, Kahnle.
I think he can, but not in that specific situation with a veteran hitter. He should have just walked him.
Blue Jays apparently about to extend Vladdy. Good for them, as I didn’t want him on the Yankees anyways. I’m all in on Tucker.
Overpay, upcoming.
Bosox about to win two, having won game one in 10 innings, now mercilessly strafing the Cardinals in game two, 18-3.
Roderick Arias back in low A ball and off to an 0-12 start. Not bleak yet, but getting there.
Yeah, the Red Sox look too good. It annoys me.
At least the other AL East teams don’t look that great.
Spencer 273/793 5 Ks in 3 games
Pereira 310/778
Lombard 310/929
Yankees optioned Headrick, resigned Otto.
Vlad, 14/500.
I expect he’ll hit (weight wise) 285 within a few years.
I mean, on the one hand, I legit AM happy for the Blue Jays fans to not lose their star player, but yeah, talk about a contract that will age like milk.
Nestor may be out for a while. Good trade I guess, unless Williams stinks.
