  1. “Doesn’t it seem like they’re not going to even move Dominguez up yet?”

If Dominguez is as good as he seems to be, as good as he was, why just let him get old as you save service time? He’s a better player than Verdugo already, probably by a lot. Hurt this team and lose the early part of Dominguez’s career – and for what? To justify to yourself that you’re paying Verdugo? You’re paying him anyway, man. Do you need Verdugo to get hurt and get Wally Pipped? If they KNEW Gehrig was Gehrig, but still played Wally Pipp, they’d have been criminally stupid.
    This is that case.
Put Verdugo on the bench – as a side benefit, you’d actually HAVE a bench, then, too.

    1. He’s not yet tearing up AAA like he was before the injury. Maybe they mostly want to keep him healthy.

  2. Cortes>>Stroman. Stroman June 5.13, 790 OPS against, July 5.5 era, 1016 OPS against, August era 27.0

He’s a ground ball pitcher, who stopped throwing ground balls.

  3. I wonder if they considered bringing back Sevvy instead of signing Stroman. Amazing how unlucky Cash is that so many of his decision turn to shit.
Stroman 18 Million through 2026 (player option), Sevy 13 Million, feee agent next year. Hal will be paying Hixie, DJ, Stanton and Stroman thru 2025 and all but Hixie thru 2026. You would think that would piss Hal off.

    1. So much sunk costs. ‘Cashman the Saboteur’, soon to be a major motion picture, co-starring Hal as ‘The Fool.’

  4. i had set a reminder to look up joc petersens stats six months ago.

he signed for 9.5. the yanks could have had him for cash instead of trading for vertigo.

    2.5 to .5 war.

cashman must be the mark at every meeting.

  5. Ex Marlins President on Jazz: He’s gotten off to a good start, and that’s going to maybe give him the false sense that he’s the center of some amount of attention. But wait ’til he goes 1-for-13 in New York. In Miami, it gets ignored with one camera. In New York, you’re on the back page of The Post. So be careful what you wish for.”

Samson, who left the Marlins organization before Chisholm joined in 2019, isn’t alone in some of his criticism of Chisholm, and an MLB player poll published by The Athletic listed Chisholm as the most overrated player in baseball after a survey of 59 players across the league.

  6. Has Gleyber ever had an ADHD evaluation? He seems to fit the inattentive subtype to a T. Might be good for him to see a psychiatrist and find out if he has a medical indication for prescription stimulants.

Or, to paraphrase a Fatigue Awareness and Mitigation training that my institution mandated for all residents:
    Ask your doctor about Amphetamines.

    1. (Of course before writing the prescription, it would be important to rule out alternative diagnoses such as a primary anxiety disorder…)

  7. Omigod, these lineups are so fucking reactive. Good game Volpe? Move up two slots.

    LF Alex Verdugo L
    RF Juan Soto L
    DH Aaron Judge R
    C Austin Wells L
    2B G. Torres R
    3B J. Chisholm L
    SS A. Volpe R
    1B Ben Rice L
    CF T. Grisham L

Why don’t they even consider that perhaps Volpe is doing better because of the LACK of pressure on him in the lineup?

Also, Gleyber gets pulled in the game, and then gets moved UP in the lineup the next game?!

    1. “Omigod, these lineups are so fucking reactive. Good game Volpe? Move up two slots.”
Brian, but that’s so much better than “DJ has been OPSing 400 for months, but don’t react to actual performance AT ALL”!!
Usually they only situation where they take performance into account is to bench anyone who has too good a game.

    2. Gleyber is moved up because Stanton is sitting. Likewise Volpe because of Grisham. Volpe is a big boy if he can’t handle the pressure moving from 9-7, he’s messed up. The bigger problem is Verdugo should not be leading off. Jazz has a 30 point higher OBP than Vertigo. Or Soto.

    3. jokes aside, how is this country even run anymore. I’ve been thinking out loud about such things and can’t seem to find many worthwhile, well, anything

    4. it’s interesting to me how circular so many things are in this world. like the internet, it’s more akin to economics than anything else
