From Bryan Hoch:
The Yankees expect their rotation to be tested early next season, with several key starters set to begin the year on the injured list. Brian Cashman has spoken about pursuing depth, which pointed them toward a reunion with Ryan Yarbrough.
Yarbrough has agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract to return to the Bronx, a source confirmed to MLB.com on Monday. The agreement, which is pending a physical, has not been formally announced by the club.
Yarbrough was uncommonly good as a spot starter for the Yankees, so this was a fine move.

is not an insanely awful rotation to start the season until Cole and Rodon return.
Now go sign Kyle Tucker!
Plus, once Rodon and Cole are back, you can use him as trade bait for Skenes. Should be easy to sell the Pittsburgh FO on the merchandising potential of a Pirate named Yarbrough.
Counting the hours until Grisham has to decide to accept or refuse the QO. November 18, 4 PM ET.
Paying Grisham is Hal’s excuse to not go after Tucker.
That’s a bargain price for Yarbrough.
A “yarborough” is a hand in the card games of bridge or whist that contains no card higher than a nine. This type of hand is considered very poor because it lacks high cards,
ESPN reports Grisham accepts the QO. They’re the only ones to report this so far.

The Daily News says Grisham has accepted the QO. That means the saboteur has committed $38 million in 2026 to McMahon and Grisham. Surely that should get an AL East title.

at least Stanton only costs $20m this year.
“Well, here’s another nice mess you’ve gotten us into Brian!”
Hoch The Yankees plan to continue pursuing a reunion with Cody Bellinger, even with Trent Grisham accepting the qualifying offer, as Brian Cashman said during the GM Meetings.
So we get the first WC, lose in the division series, and the first order of business is to bring back all the same players. Hoping Judge has another MVP season, bellinger has another 2025 (and not 2022 or 2024), hope Grishams fluke season repeats itself, …yeah this is going to work out really well.
The QO is better than a multi-year mistake, but neither would have been the best choice. I liked the idea of Bellinger and Kwan if they couldn’t get Tucker, but that seems off the table now too.
So they’re not even going to try.
I can think of a number of interesting strategies they could pursue, but apparently… apparently they can’t.
If Grisham ever again even approaches last year’s performance, I’m hereby committing Werner Herzog to eat his DP. You can quote me on that, I’m ready to stand behind my words.
There has to be a better team to root for.
