Whoops, sorry, I had this prepared, but I got distracted before posting it. Up now!
“It’s only a matter of time before Judge gets out of his slump,” says Flash, as he adds, “Although that hit really was more luck.”
Which one is it, dude?
Great hit by Wells.
How do you possibly complain about the velocity on Gil in the first inning of his first game back from the injured list? If it’s noticeably lower in, like, the fourth or whatever, that’s fair enough, but in the FIRST?
That’s some amazing baserunning, Wellsy. Holy shit, this team is so stupid on the basepaths.
POSADO
Do the Yankees still have an FM station? 660 am is terrible. What’s the best way to steam on my phone?
Pete Crow-Armstrong is a pretty sick baseball name. Sounds like he should be going in spikes-up into second to take out Topsy “Old Tuberculosis” Stanwick of the Chicago Orphans in the first game of a day-day-night tripleheader.
i’m disappointed that vertigo got on. it’s a wonderful time for him to go 0-4 provided we don’t need more runs.
Me too.
Justin on radio “Verdugo is October tested.” Susan agreed. Of course he was a lot better than.
In the playoffs based on talent Gil needs to be either the #2 or the lock down closer. Other considerations may apply.
Agreed. So much of this season’s success is based on Gil and Schmidt being #2 and #3 worthy starters in the playoffs. If they are, then this team can obviously win with Rodon as the #4 playoff starter. I might just leave Stroman and Cortes off of the playoff roster period.
Seems to me based on who’s up Cortes could be tough in 567.
I’m not as sold on Schmidt. This has been kind of a career year and has he solved his problems with LHBs?
The organization’s obsession with Verdugo is pathological. And I fear the temptation to bring him back for 2025 is there.
Cash actually said it doesn’t matter what Jason does in the minors
I’m not as sold on Schmidt. This has been kind of a career year and has he solved his problems with LHBs?
Yankee pen 3 run lead, 3 innings to go and Boone getting creative. Not what you want.
Second time in a week. Boone fundamentals.
Missed all of Gil pitching. Line looks good, did he?
are we lining up cousins, kahnle, clay?
It sure looks like it, right? Hopefully it is Weaver instead.
Weaver’s up. I prefer Kahnle.
Okay, it IS Weaver. Phew.
i was annoyed to see cousins in. we just never try anything different but these guys love to argue with results.
I guess I can see them wanting to see Cousins get back to his good stuff before giving him the ninth. He HAD given up a run in three straight appearances, ya know? Two of those innings were bad luck, but still.
Now that he went back to looking sharp, hopefully he gets the ninth. Weaver seems too valuable as a multi-inning reliever.
I hate that good at-bat.
How the fuck is THAT your 3-1 swing, Gleyber?!
What a fucking HORRENDOUS call. I’ll take it, though.
That was such a bad 3-2 pitch by Weaver. It wasn’t even close.
Oh my god, find the fucking plate, you fuck!
3-2, 2 out, up 3-throw a fastball
For serious!
Weaver, what the fuck, buddy?! Just throw strikes!
That was a terrible call. Weaver’s been lucky.
Ball 4 hit the bat.
Jordan Baker would probably have called it a strike.
That was a great 3-2 pitch that Paredes fouled off. Fuck (the one before the Ball 4 he fouled off, as well).
Swung ball 4
Hopefully it’s just first time closer nerves, as his stuff was quite good, he just couldn’t find the plate.
I can’t even blame Gleyber for that, as that was a WEIRDLY hit groundball.
Nice play and throw Gleyber
Yeah, agreed. That was NOT an easy play.
No Holmes even with a 3 run lead? I guess that means he’s out. Until tomorrow when they use him up 5-4 and he gives up a run.
Yay win. Another non-losing season! 32 in a row.
I think there was no way he was getting in this particular game, but yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets into the next close game as the closer.
A combined no-hitter by the Cubs followed by a combined 1-hitter against the Cubs. I thought Wrigley was a hitter’s park.
It is when the wind blows out but very different when it blows in, and it was blowing in a gale today.
As I pointed out in the previous thread, all games are 2:20 PM starts. Now, they did win the first game, so it will be good to get the losses out of the way early the next two days.
I’m guessing a blowout loss tomorrow and a blown save loss on Sunday.
Sunday, August 25, that last time Aaron Judge hit a HR.
2022 was like that, too. He is a weird fucking dude.
Let’s not mention that we only scored in one inning.
RAB Hamilton and Schmidt are both coming back tomorrow and the Yankees need 40-man spots for both. Sending just Marinaccio down likely means one MLB player (Bickford?) and one minor leaguer (Misiewicz?) are getting DFAed.
Those both sound correct, yes.
And when Berti is ready to return, Ellis gets DFAed.
Will Warren has a bad 5th inning and a 8-0 lead is now an 8-7 lead.

He’s got a future
Warren’s future might be as a reliever.
Spencer Jones has back-to-back 0-for-4, 4 K games.
You have to take the good with the bad…and hope the good outweighs the bad.
