I like how Cookie Carrasco is at least just a normal bad pitcher. There’s no confusion here, there’s no wasting of skills, he just isn’t very good. That simplicity is bad for the rotation, but good for your brain not having to convince yourself, “Maybe this guy can be good!” No, he won’t be good, but he might not give up a three-run home run every fucking game like SOMEbody else in the rotation we all know and loathe (sadly, that can almost resemble Stroman, as well).
Stumbling towards 500.
At least they’re not starting Cavan freakin’ Biggio in right field! 🙂
Wow, David Cone in the booth! Nice!
See? That wasn’t Carrasco being frustrating, he just sucks.
And that’s what you need, a guy to only KIND of suck.
Aaron Boone said if you look under the hood Carrasco’s been quite good. Carrasco’s in the KKK?
Is it igood strategy to start every at-bat with two strikes?
How did Cookie not get that last pitch called a strike!?!?
This is why I’d just as soon start Carrasco over Stroman when Stroman returns. Carrasco is a normal bad pitcher, and not an extraordinarily bad pitcher like Stroman.
Royal’s fifth worst team in baseball in runs scored. Could be good for Cookie. Rockies worst team in runs scored. How is that possible?
They’re baaaaaaad. Were the second choice to have the worst record in MLB this year. And probably shoulda been favored over CHW.
The Padres shut them out three straight games.
Nice to see that Lugo was clearly trying to avoid giving Martian something to hit. They might want to bat him higher in the lineup against righties.
That’s why dudes like Carrasco have to throw strikes to get ahead.
Don’t be like Stroman and Rodon and get in your head about this, Cookie!
Ugh, that was a brutal double play.
Judge looks like a really good singles hitter, at least.
Wells was one of the guys I was counting on to have a big season in order for the Yankees to succeed. Time to get going Austin.
He just BARELY missed on that one.
Great defensive play by the Martian!
Stroman and Rodon should be forced to watch Carrasco constantly and just get it seared into your brain that you just THROW FUCKING STRIKES with good location. Carrasco will still get beat because he’s ancient and sucks, but he’s not beating himself up out there.
I could get used to Cookie being this basically, blandly bad on a regular basis.
I don’t expect to, but I could!
It’s just so maddening that the other guys can’t just pitch basically as bad as Carrasco.
Jazz cemented the fact that his approach is clearly the correct one.
Jazz now tied for the Major League lead in home runs. Tommy Edman is hilariously among the guys that Jazz is tied with.
Gil close to starting a throwing program. That’s cool news.
I can only imagine if Rodon just had a similar approach to Carrasco with his amazing stuff. He’d be a fucking Cy Young candidate every year.
Eleven hits, six home runs, 180 BA, 762 OPS. Hypermodern baseball.
Wow, did Grisham SMOKE that shit.
The Grish steals Chrishmas!
oh no
I don’t like the idea of Cruz against the top of the order in the sixth. I’d bring Carrasco back, let him go batter to batter.
Absolutely.
“now tied for the Major League lead in home runs”
It feels like Judge had 9 home runs after 7 games. But fewer now.
The TGJCP boys.
The Rice is cooking!
Just saw that Martian play. That was one hell of a catch.
The other guys are mocking Judge for his lack of home runs.
I love the home run, but damn, dudes, can’t you ever hit home runs with guys on base?!
Solo HRs galore.
Cruz is the Rodon of relievers.
3-1 to his first batter. This fucking guy. This fucking guy.
We talk about the Blake magic, and it is all about whether the pitchers are smart enough to listen to him. Cruz seems like a moooooooron.
LOOK AT THIS STUFF! How does he suck so much with stuff like this?!!?
What is a swing?!
Seems weird to pull Cruz when he actually has it.
Boone trying to find the guy who doesn’t have it tonight.
Like pulling Carrasco when he did.
Hill, on the other hand, is NOT a moron, so Blake was able to work wonders with him. You watch him pitch, and you wonder, “How did he suck for so many teams?!”
This might be the FIRST game of the season to follow the Weaver/Williams 8th/9th game script.
Hopefully the Yankees score some more runs, and it isn’t a save situation, and we get to see some Allan Winans action tonight.
Rays putting some hurt on the townies
Richard Fitts to the IL with a pec strain. I think there might be something connected to how much velocity he added to his pitches this season.
When Stanton returns…can Ben Rice play third base? 🙂
Woulda been funny if it were caught.
I see Big Man Hit Ball Hard
I see big man return 3 weeks too soon.
Don’t worry, it won’t last
What happened?
Rice hit a homer
I mean…pretty good tonight by the Yankees’ 8th starter.
The Yankee relievers just start every guy 2-0. It’s so annoying.
I just took a look at that catch. It was nice but I thought the route wasn’t great, perhaps made it look harder than it could have been
Kyle “Jason” Isbel
Don’t walk the fucking #9 hitter, Weaver, thank you please.
Kind of funny how the ALE sucks now
If they don’t score this inning, Williams will get his first save opportunity of the entire season!
He’s got a save.
Yeah, I thought Opening Day was a 4-0 game when he came in. My bad!
i wanted goldie, they got him, and he doesn’t suck. how often does that happen?
Up 3 in the bottom of the eight let him hit.
Oh wait, he HAS a save? When?
Oh, HA, i thought opening day was a 4-run lead.
Okay, a leadoff hit instead of a walk.
What is this headcase DOING?!
Okay, this guy is a headcase.
A save but not Impressive.
Whew.
Given that Lugo vs. Carrasco was almost certainly a loss, I’d say this may be the best win of the young season. Runs without HRs would be nice though. Judge is certainly doing his part in that regard.
Carrasco also defeated Merrill Kelly, so a Carrasco start SHOULDN’T be an automatic loss (unless Tarik Skubal is the opposing pitcher).
Katie S Jasson Dominguez’s running catch on Sal Perez’s line drive in the 4th inning had a Catch Probability of 60%.
That’s the lowest Catch Probability for any putout by a Yankee OF this season.
