    1. I think he’ll be up and playing everyday in September, so it’s all good. He faced a great pitcher in Skubal, and Miller did a nice job in that inning, too.

    2. Tonight doesn’t bother me, 567 in July and 624 in August bothers me. I was really rooting for him.

  1. Four runs in 3 games not against the 96 Braves just won’t hack it going forward. Other than one inning they didn’t do much against the White Sox either.

  2. What is that now, 10 blow saves? Screw, you Hal, for keeping doddering Cashman* and his clown sidekick Boone around.

    * I think Cashman is in the same place n that Ted Thompson was i Green Bay only no one wanted to remove him until he retired and then the truth cae out.

  3. Holmes the worst in history. I tried to defend him but he’s indefensible. His 10th blown save, 2 above the runner up. And those weren’t seeing eye ground balls, both those hits were hard hit.

  4. And Leiter is a total piece of shit who only looks ok because he’s better than Cash’s other move De Los Santos.
I thought Boone would go to Cousins.

    1. The Closer? Boone didn’t even use him tonight with the lead. He used him yesterday day in the 4th inning.

  5. Well, I expected a loss tonight, so this didn’t hurt as much as it could have. And it wasn’t like I was thinking Holmes was holding a one-run lead.

The Yankees are just REALLY bad on national TV for some reason, especially these stunt games.

  6. They won’t make the WS in 2024. That will be the longest stretch in club history, since acquiring Babe Ruth. The previous longest stretch, which they are tied with now, was 1981-1996, this will become 2009-2025 and beyond meaning 16 years and counting.

    Hal is THE problem.

  7. Two runs in the last 20 innings, one on a wild pitch, one the ghost runner. Five runs in 3 games against Detroit. Only 1 game in 6 where they scored more than 4, 8-7 against a bunch of sub 500 teams where they should’ve been 10-5.

  8. Boone “Holmes was pretty sharp” and he’s “COMMITTED” to using him as the closer. “We’ve got to get Leiter a LITTLE sharper. Just a LITTLE bit sharper.

  9. RAB You’d think the Yankees would have a good trade deadline one of these years just by random chance, but nope, they keep ringing up Ls. Also two runs in the last 20 innings for the offense, one on a wild pitch and one via the automatic runner in extras.

  10. Katie Sharp Yankees now have 4 losses this season in which the starter pitched 6+ scoreless innings.

The only MLB team with more is the Mariners (5).

  11. Looking back on Lester’s career he’s only had 1 season with an era under 4. His career era, before tonight, is close to 5. What did Cashman see?

    1. Cash saw a “veteran”.
I wonder if we look thru box scores will we see that he pitched well against the yanks once or twice? Cash loves those guys. It’s why he couldn’t wait to get Tony Woemack back in 2005 (because he had a hit against Rivera in game 7 of the 2001 WS) and sign l Wright (who beat them in the 1995 playoffs).
It’s truly unbelievable that a GM who quite simply sucks at his job is now at it for 25 years. With one WS purchased by blowing money on Arod, CC, Tex, etc. (he gets no credit for taking over Bob Watson / Gene Michael late 1990s team.)
That ownership lets this go on and on is baffling.

    2. The Yankees have the most wins in baseball since 2001.

They have the largest run differential in baseball this season, and are a half game back of the best record in the Majors. The notion that the Yankees are somehow having a BAD season is bizarre.

They DO need to stop letting Holmes close, though.
