    1. Really surprised he went after Judge like that. There’s no way that Zack Wheeler was concerned about Austin Wells, ya know? Just give Judge garbage to hit, and if you walk him, you walk him.

  1. Oh come along, boys, and listen to my tale,
I’ll tell you all my troubles on the ol’ Chisholm trail.
Come a-ti yi youpy youpy yea youpy yea

    1. I mean, under normal circumstances, that’d be a very fair critique, but, well, scoring three runs at ALL against Wheeler is impressive, no?

  2. Stats I didn’t know
Gleyber in July has an 813 OPS.
Grisham 725 which is perfectly ok.

It’s been Verdugo (and DJ) killing them. In his non Red Sox games this month he is 9 for 56 with no HRs and 2 RBI. Ugh
DJ has been terrible all year.

Interesting that since the ASB Volpe is at 333/526/860.

    1. Gil’s adjustment to throw more sliders is really helping his fastball & change.

    1. Awful pitch though by Wheeler. Of course, most Yankees hitter would have popped it up.

  3. Maybe Wells is who they should’ve walked. I mean Stanton was on deck. In what world was Stanton off a month with no workouts getting a hit?

    1. I doubt he can finish his career above 1.000; it would be incredible if he could. But very happy they didn’t include the faux NeL numbers in that list.

And we tend to forget just how great Lou Gehrig was. No ALS, he’s at 600 HR’s, well over 3000 hits, and an unbelievable number of RBI’s. He took excellent care of himself in the off season, a rarity in the day.

  4. Yes! but the last time they scored 14 runs they were shut out the next game.

Stanton went 0 for 4; who could have predicted that? Uhhhh everybody.

  5. Bonds hit dingers in 11% of his PAs in 2001. Judge is around last year’s pace at 8.2%, but behind his 2022 8.9% pace.

Judge has maybe 225 PAs left in the season. He’d need to increase his pace to 15.5% to get there. It’s a tall order.

BUT if Judge can pick it up to Bonds’ 11% over the remainder AND the Yankee lineup is so prodigious and turns over so regularly Judge can get 5-6 ABs per game, then he’s got a real shot at 74.

Dammit Cash, this is no time to skimp. Dramatically overhaul this roster by tomorrow and give Judge the support he needs. History is at stake here.

    1. But Judge’s year has been drought, feast, drought, feast. He’s JUST breaking out of drought #2, so that’ll bring the number down.

    1. It’s interesting. I don’t see first as being an area of need, but I guess it COULD be, right? Yandy Diaz is obviously a LOT better than Rice (and holy shit would he fit PERFECTLY on Houston, so I don’t want him ending up there).

Also, couldn’t Rice theoretically be the backup catcher? Is he THAT bad behind the plate?
