I was just thinking of the scene in Dazed and Confused where Wooderson asks Mitch if he had a joint on him. Mitch says he doesn’t, and Wooderson replies, “Be lot cooler if you did.” That’s what I’m thinking about this game. We know the Yankees are blowing this one, and GIl will probably have another shitty performance, but, well, be a lot cooler if they didn’t.
Carlos Narvaez was, in fact, the guy who got the nod for Trevy. Trevy’s on the 10-Day IL with a quad injury, but, well, let’s face it, a quad injury for a dude like Trevy is almost certainly a month. Narvaez can at least defend the position well, but I doubt he’ll hit. So Wells will presumably be the nearly everyday catcher, which is fine by me! The hilarious thing is that there is actually no benefit to Rice catching a little bit, as it would just mean LeMahieu playing first base. I guess that’s the only way Vivas will get a start!
I was just thinking before he came to bat that maybe Wells should bat cleanup. Rice has shown power but not BA ability.

Verdugo and Gleyber defy expectations with hit, phenom not so much. Yet to hear from DJ.
It’s good for Vivas to get that valuable bench experience.
That’s was a non competitive inning, FOUR FUCKING PITCHES, by 3 non competitive hitters. Rodriguez threw a lot of pitches in the first on this hot humid weather so the Yankees decided to cut him a break. Do the Yankees not have a manager or a hitting coach to suggest they should make him work?
DJ last 6 ABs, five ground balls and a strikeout. Vivas is watching closely.
Rice 2/21 10 Ks.
Yeah there’s a book on him now. He needs to make the adjustment.
We can rely on Boone and Rowson to point him in the right direction.
Soto non Voce
Judge Basso Profondo fortissimo
That could’ve gone better
Robot umps would make having a good eye much more meaningful. One day they WILL do it. Why the hell have we been waiting all these years?
Gleyber (what kind of a name is Gleyber, btw?) had a pretty good 2-strike approach.
Freddie Einhorn!
Don’t they have some kind of hybrid robot ump system in the minors?
I know you don’t want to jinx anything, but is it possible that they might finally leave town without losing the series?
Yay, win.
I saw the final score and realized I must have suddenly come down with dyslexia. That would be far more likely than the Yankees actually winning a series against a competent team.
I’m not sure you can call any team that loses two in a row to the Yankees “a competent team”
LOL
Anthony Volpe’s OPS has fallen below last year’s number.
He is in desperate need of a hot streak after the All-Star Break.

There’s no acknowledgment that anything’s wrong.
Least of all from Volpe himself. He’s waiting until the season is over.
As long as he’s sticking to the plan.
The biggest wet fart is beating the team above you to get back to even and then handing the ball to Rodón before the long break. Imagine how bad the vibes would be if they hadn’t won these games. Feels like it’ll take 14 or 15 to get it done tomorrow
Then do it! We want 14, 15 runs. But will it be enough?
11:35 AM start Sunday.
