I still hate Grisham over Rice in the leadoff spot.
The Yankees really need to punish Gibson in his first game of the season. I doubt they will, but it’d be nice!
Watch out Rickey
Watch out Barry
Watch out Giancarlo.
Watch out you
After 5 batters this is clearly suboptimal. Rice missed the first pitch and Goldschmidt didn’t even homer.
Watch out Clay.
Beat me to it.
Jazz and Belli just need Kyle Gibson to start every game from here on out.
Oh shit, is Jazz hurt?
Chisholm triple, hurts himself.
Boo! Wells.
I think Jazz was hurt BEFORE the triple. It’s obviously not ideal, but an injury in his side is probably better than a hamstring injury.
Yeah, Michael Kay allude to that as he [Chisholm] was rounding first base.
Two outs, you are on third, and you aren’t running on contact? WTF, Volpe?
Your oblique can’t be hurt TOO bad if you hit a triple AFTER the injury, right?
I swear, Rodon almost tried to walk the leadoff batter after getting a five run lead in the first inning.
Rodon, buddy, you can’t go to six pitches on every fucking hitter.
This game is all about pitching efficiency
Ben Rice showed up that fucking loser, Judge. Only ONE home run in two at-bats, Judgey? What a loser.
Ben Rice is a machine in April, let’s keep it going!
ICYMI DJ seemed to be on the cusp of making a return, and he was absolutely tearing it up during a Double-A rehab stint this past week, but now it sounds like he is dealing with a brand new injury.
As first reported by Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, LeMahieu received a cortisone injection in his right hip on Tuesday. Manager Aaron Boone described the injection as “preemptive” and that the 36-year-old “felt something coming on.”
Boone stated the team is hopeful LeMahieu will be able to return to the minor leagues later this week, something that will be worth monitoring closely over the next several days.
Just when I thought I was out…..
I thought it WAS a hip injury he was recuperating from. No? What was it, then?
Oh, it was LAST season that he had hip problems. So…yeah, he’s fucking toast.
How much do you want to bet they didn’t do an MRI, thus missing that the hip pain could be from avascular necrosis instead of impingement, and the cortisone shot makes the AVN worse?
That was an amazing inning by Rodon. Maybe if we always gave him a 6-0 lead he’d throw more strikes.
Right?
Things are going downhill fast. 5 runs to 1 run to 0 runs. Boooooo!
Rodon deserves our suspicion but he’s been pretty good so far
One month to the date of their first four-homer opening frame in franchise history, the Yankees did it again, blasting four first-inning long balls off Orioles starter Kyle Gibson on Tuesday evening at Camden Yards.

No game scheduled for May 29.
Hoch says it’s “right flank discomfort” for Chisholm. That sounds like it could be ANYthing, an oblique or just a minor strain. I guess we’ll need to hear what tests they do.
Just in time for DJLM to come back!
Radio guy; Aaron judge has reached base 2 or more times in 21 straight games.
Walk Judge, hit Rice. Goldshmidt brings one run home.
Ha! Bellinger and Goldscmidt must read RLYW, they took up my challenge, driving in 5 runs between them so far.
It’s funny, now you have to start wondering about Rodon sitting so much through these innings.
Great for Pythag but they really needed 2 more runs yesterday.
No hitter for Rodon?
Think bigger.
Ha! Rodon just did what I was about to write. At 62 pitches, just start throwing the shit right down the middle. If they get a hit, then you can come out of the game. If they don’t, then you can possibly get through nine.
62 pitches through five is not great odds for him getting through nine if he keeps going to long counts. Just throw the shit down the middle.
Can you imagine losing a Perfect Game because of a fucking walk in the sixth inning of a game you’re up by TWELVE RUNS in!?
You can quit worrying about that, and he wasn’t going 9-innings anyway. 😎
It would have been hilarious to see Boone lift him in the middle of a Perfect Game.
Okay, they can take him out now.
Give us 6-innings at least.
I guess with Warren’s short start yesterday, they’d prefer if Rodon could eat some more innings.
The thing is, besides Hamilton and Matzek, who else in the bullpen even NEEDS work? No one, right? So why NOT just let Rodon pitch the 7th, then Hamilton for the 8th, and Matzek for the 9th?
Thank goodness they got that run back.
Then Rodon gave it right back!
I guess Hamilton and Matzek split the 8th, and then Matzek finishes it out?
Amusingly, Rodon’s ERA ended up only barely going down tonight.
Got that run back.
Interesting to see them use Hamilton for two innings. That might be something they’ll look into, as he’s obviously fallen down the ol’ totem pole in the pen in terms of the highest leverage innings, but he’s clearly still quite good.
Matzek, dude, you can’t walk the leadoff batter up THIRTEEN RUNS in the NINTH inning.
Matzek might just be washed.
every win is great but i can’t believe how into aaron judge i am. i think at this point if you asked me if id rather see the yanks win a world series or judge smoke 75 and hit 400 ill take the greatest season ever. even in the most bleak moments of fandom he’s been there for us the last ten years. i wouldn’t hear a word of badmouthing him last october.
i mean, sure, give me the 400 season and a title, but if you could only get one?
