    1. They’ve been stupid and very weird about him since his crash and burn in May 2023 when his average was in the 160s, and he should have been sent to AAA. But they kept running him out there.

    2. He’s a good enough defender that it’s not unreasonable to keep him in the lineup, but batting him in the middle of the lineup is just mind-boggling.

  1. Saw that coming (just because, well, you know, Yandy is a good hitter, and all he needed was a single to drive in the run). It was just a free run due to the stupid walk. You’re not good enough to allow leadoff walks to speedy runners, Cookie!

    1. He got Warren out before the game could get away, why couldn’t he have learned something from that and saved Carrasco from himself?

  2. Loud guy behind me has been yelling, “it’s our house now” as things good happened for Tampa. When Goldie beat out that dribbler a woman screamed out of nowhere, “I hope you guys have renter’s insurance.”

  3. Maybe it’s because they made such a big deal about Williams calling his change the “airbender.” Having your own personal pet name for a pitch is deeply uncool. Unless Tampa’s Bigge has pitches he calls “Super Nintendo” and “Sega Genesis.”

  4. “The Yankees are going to send up Escarra to pinch hit for Reyes.”

I have no idea who any of these people are. Are these guys non-roster invitees because they’re playing at the Stein?

  5. Escara is up now because Booner pinch hit Reyes so he could use Bellinger on defense. The Martian should’ve been hitting where Bellinger hit and Bellinger instead of Escara.

  6. Can’t believe that just happens.
For a guy who’s given up fewer runs than almost anyone the last few years, he sure gives up a f**kload of runs.

  7. Devin lost this game with a big assist from our idiot manager. Using Reyes to PH was a move that only 1/30 MLB mangers would’ve done.

As an aside why are Reyes and Peraza both on this team?

    1. Why? Cashman is the smartest man in the room, especially when only he and Boone are the only ones in the room.

  8. As another aside is Escara a better hitter than Reyes? Escara’s hitting 158, Reyes is a career mediocre 245 hitter. They’re both terrible but Reyes is probably less terrible.

    1. but there’s a susbtantial PH penalty and without looking it up I believe it’s worse for bad hitters

  9. I don’t know if this includes today but AI: The Yankees are 3-15 in road extra-inning games since 2022, according to Stathead. This is the worst record among all teams in MLB over the last three seasons. Their manager, Aaron Boone, has coached the team through this stretch.

    1. As of April 2024 they were 3-15 since 2022, they’ve already lost 2 in 2025. IDK what they did between April 26, 2024, and 2025.

  10. Whistling past the ninth.

Aaron Judge on Devin Williams: “We went out and got him for a reason. He’s the best closer in the game. We’ve got a long season. This guy is going to save a lot of ballgames for us and help us out. I’m not worried at all. He knows what he needs to do. He’ll go out there and figure it out.”

    1. He probably won’t figure it out. He’s likely broken, which is why the price to obtain him was so cheap.

  11. Part of the reason the Yankees suck in extra innings is that their closers have blown so many saves. Boone uses all of his best relievers to avoid having to play extra innings (which to be fair is defensible) then the closer blows the save, the home run or bust offense can’t scratch out a single in the top of the inning to get a lead, and they have to go to the 6th or 7th guy in the bullpen in the highest leverage situation possible.

  12. I think on a today of all days it’s important to remember the words of our Lord and savior when confronted with the fallibilities of a man like our manager.

And that is: “What a maroon.”

  13. If Devin stinks, we’re fucked. If Bellinger stinks, we’re fucked. If Jazz stinks, we’re fucked.Volpe is phenom. Cookie and Stroman are dead men walking. Warren I have no idea but my guess is not positive.

  14. The thing that gets me is that Weaver has been dominant, and Williams is clearly not resigning here, so why NOT just flip their roles? You don’t have to worry about sucking up to Williams, as i imagine he’s gone no matter what, and his money will go to resigning Weaver. So just give Williams Weaver’s role. Williams used to set Hader up, after all.
