I know Gleyber has been playing really well in the postseason (well enough to get a QO, I think), but I still prefer the Dodgers’ approach of just batting their two best hitters #1-2, so that they get up more often during the game. But whatever, it ain’t happening any time soon for the Yankees, so I should be happy to just see Stanton batting cleanup at least. I am surprised that the Yankees decided to take Oswaldo Cabrera over Jon Berti, considering Berti is such a better baserunner than Cabrera. If they had to lose someone, I would think Grisham, who didn’t get any playing time in the ALCS, would be the guy they dropped, and not Berti. I guess they recall that Grisham DID hid a big home run against the Dodgers this season.
So, the Dodgers’ own play-by-play guy is calling the World Series, and the lead analyst is John fucking Smoltz. That should not be fun to listen to, but hopefully it’ll be fun to watch otherwise!
Whereas the Yankees got… the Mets’ John Darling. Very sweet.
There’s always the radio feed!
All join hands around the table to call forth the spirit (not in the sense of ghost) of Mariano Duncan!
Welcome to ‘The Post Season of Gloom Part Trois’.
Whatever, I think we all knew Boone wasn’t going to be changing the lineup after getting this far with it. I wish Chisholm either starts hitting or is replaced by Cabrera, but that’s never happening. Here’s hoping Roberts out-sucks Boone in this one!
Well, the “starts hitting” could certainly happen.
But he DID make the Stanton move, so you’d like to think he’d at least consider swapping Rizzo and Chisholm.
Even so, NOBODY outsucks Boone. Not a reasonable ask.
They’ll need to win the way the always win (when they win).
Dodgers down to -117. Late movement toward NYY.
Wonder why.
Sharp money coming in on the Yanks.
Jon Berti was taken off the World Series roster because of a right hip flexor, Aaron Boone said. He sustained it running the bases in ALCS Game 4.
Jeter said the story line is going to be Jazz Chisholm
Goddamn. LAD now -114. Late money all NYY.
Closing -110 it looks like. That’s a big move for a playoff game from -120 this afternoon, esp when it’s the only game going. Dunno if there’s sharp sentiment Flaherty’s late season decrease in velo is telling or what.
Laying it on a bit thick, are we?
That was not a fun way to start the Series.
Bad calls already.
Damn, hit it hard.
Damn. Nice cut. Smoked it.
Judge with the continuation
Judge, come on, get going…
That slider was hittable as shit. Flaherty ain’t got it.
It’s super frustrating, agreed.
They really should just walk Stanton.
Terrible call
Do they pick the worst umps to call balls and strikes.
Here’s a pair of synonyms for you:
“worst umps”
and
“umps”
Ah, Yankee baseball. Lots of baserunners…
Game 1: Carlos Torres (ranked 32nd of 90, 1st WS)
Game 2: Andy Fletcher (73rd, 1st WS)
Game 3: Mark Carlson (49th)
Game 4: Doug Eddings (60th)
Game 5: Mark Ripperger (18th, 1st WS)
Game 6: Chad Fairchild (37th)
Game 7: Todd Tichenor (24th)
Awesome, awesome.
They should all be in the top 10 or 20. What do the NFL or NBA do.
Some truly egregious calls there, ignored by the talkers who claimed it was a hitters zone
What’s worse? The umpires, or the announcers?
My number one ask for the pitching is just let Teoscar be quiet.
That was fun.
OK, Cole.
So weird – so Betts doesn’t have great bat speed? It LOOKS crazy fast.
Right? So weird.
Just give up super hard hit flyballs to every hitter. It will all work out well.
Could we maybe knock it off with that shit?
Walk Soto and Stanton and hope Wells doesn’t close his eyes and hit a home run. I’m kind of surprised Rizzo 429/1000 isn’t hitting 5th over Jazz 143/468 for the postseason.
On second thought I’m not even slightly surprised. Boone! (As in Seinfeld saying Newman!)
I don’t even believe what I just watched with Jazz. Is it possible he called that he didn’t pull back the bunt? Also, A BUNT!?!?
Did he say the story would be negative or positive?
Would it be a story if he just continued to be bad?
I think he meant one way or the other. He hit 223/644 in September to go with his 143/468 in the playoff so he earned the slot behind Soto, Judge and Stanton.
Okay, I guess Dominguez can play left field now. What the FUCK, Verdugo?
Verdugo, come on, man? For defense?
Verdugo sure is bad for a guy who plays good defense
Who ya gonna believe? The Yankees, or your lying eyes?
See, Cole is smart. He realized that the BAD contact went for a triple, so he went back to hard contact to end the inning.
lol
Brilliant!
Scary first inning. In more than one way.
Technically, a 10-pitch inning. That’s good, right?
Right?
Rizzo trying to get the same hit as freeman
Need some luck. That’s a start.
When is the last time Volpe hit a HR?
Good by Rizzo to not try to advance on that pitch.
Flaherty seems to have Volpe flummoxed this at-bat.
Odds are Volpe will return to being Volpe.
We want pre-September Wells.
Those Wells’ swings are just so, so embarrassing. His eye isn’t awful, at least, but man, those fucking swings.
So Wells lays off the 93 down the middle, but swings at the pitch a foot above the strike zone.
What do we call that approach?
Wellsian.
That high pitch would get most batters to swing, I don’t mind it. I just mind how bad the swing was.
Redemption?
Good thing they’re not scoring this game on points
Good to see a week off didn’t hurt wells
Verdugo, the Ground Ball Machine.
Wow, a groundball to the SHORTSTOP, mixing things up, Verdugo!
Yes, redemption… for the other guy who screwed up in the field.
Thanks.
I like this attack plan of trying to batter Flaherty’s ankles into submission.
I haven’t watched much of the Yankees this year but every time I do Verdugo looks like pure shit. just unlucky I guess
They have enough “big bats” to compensate for Verdugo? Three with one slumping is enough?
I’m less nervous when the Yankees are batting.
The umpire sucks, by the way.
To state the obvious.
Is it me ot does Will Smith look like Will Poulter?
Same exact pitch as the 2-0.
and Flaherty got those called
This ump…
There only 1 ump rated in the top 20, and none in the top 10. Tomorrow is Andy Fletcher 73rd. Is this part of the union contract?
What an awful call
it’s impossible how bad these calls are. I feel like we’re gonna see some of these on end-of-season worst calls lists.
Not very fun.
oof. That was Ball 4. Rare Soto biff.
They don’t show the field, but with that positioning there HAS to be a big hole to aim for somewhere, doesn’t there?
They can still hit into those DPs!
this guy has NOTHING…..for fuck’s sake, Yanks
Contact!
Judge halfway to a Golden Sombrero.
Are we having fun yet?
How many swings and misses for Judge so far? Five or 6?
I’m beginning to think Judge may be pressing.
say what you will about Torre but he’d have batted Judge 8th
Soto had to swing at pitch 6 because pitch 2 was called a strike. Both sliders. Rough zone tonight.
https://x.com/riveraveblues/status/1849977204567879927?s=61&t=fhOaqwtc8q2TMSXUDRjPeg
Have the yanks gotten one out of the infield yet?
How do they pick the umps?
Poorly
Besides the umpires making themselves available (which is easy, but hey, it does matter), it is at the total discretion of the Chief Umpire and a panel of advisors, except that there is always one umpire who makes their World Series debut each World Series.
This ump suuuuuuuuuuuucks.
He had a good swing on that pitch, but he did not “have one right there.” That was a good pitch by Cole.
The Yankees are run-challenged for months now, the umps have no respect for their hitting ability. It’s like, get outta here, you can’t hit.
Jazz can’t wait to make out.
Jeter put the pressure on Jazz.
Three pitches, 2-0outs.
Yankees mowing themselves down.
boy are the Yanks letting this asshole
off easy
Flaherty does not have the good stuff. More disappointing than the lack of prduction, though, is that he’s now only at 60 pitches.
Cabrera is probably more dangerous than Jazz, but Boone sees something.
Maybe Mattingly can hit for Judge.
Jesus fucking christ, this ump.
Maybe the Yankees and Dodgers should do strikes by rock paper scissors in protest of the umps?
Very nice running catch Ratso
Freddy’s balsawood bats may not have been the best choice.
An inauspicious start for Cole but he’s really settled in.
You know what we could use right about now ? Lotsa runs. For us, I mean.
You show up on the day of my daughter’s wedding to demand runs?
I dEmAnD tEh RuNnNsSsS !!!11!
Rate these three Dodger pitchers Koufax, Drysdale, Flaherty?
Jesus F Christ
Flaherty gave up EIGHT RUNS in his last outing, and now the Yankees are making him look BETTER as the game is going along!
Ooooooof
I think we all saw Verdugo getting a hit there.
Rocking an Ommegang All Hallows Treat 7.6% imperial peanut butter stout.
Gonna need to up that to about 15% if I gotta keep watching these guys flail.
That wasn’t THAT good of a play by Muncy. Chill, dude.
Wells has struck out 58% of his ABs. Judge 45%. Judge has a lot of walks, Wells has 3.
Are you suggesting that Judge is actually better than Wells?
Judge looks like he’s in a funk. Wells doesn’t look like he has any idea where any pitch he’s seeing is.
How in the FUCK was that guy a Gold Glove finalist?! He is AWFUL out there.
Cole’s fielders fucked him on BOTH triples.
Soto’s not so great in the field
And then he followed it up with a terrible throw. Awesome.
Had Soto just played the ball correctly, Kike would be on third base now.
Soto gets credited with an RBI there.
What a terrible set of plays by soto
Soto owes us, now
We know that and knew that.
Have the Yankees even hit a ball hard?
Gleyber in the first AB of the game.
Nice piece of hitting by Soto.
Hitting’s always a piece, isn’t it? I wanna see someone do a nice chunk of hitting.
Can Judge bunt?
That was such a bad swing on that 2-0 pitch. What the fuck, Judge!?
Would it kill this broadcast to shut the fuck up for a minute or two?
Some of these swings are…interesting.
How many swings and misses for Judge?
Golden Sombrero, or Platinum Sombrero?
STANTON!
Stanton!
The Big Lug!
BOOM !!!!!!!
NICE CHUNK OF HITTING
NO STOPPARLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, oh man!
Stanton!!!!!!
Stanton 0-2 is ridiculous. They should just walk him.
Does he bait the pitcher?
This is a weird, weird choice by Roberts.
Could be really good. If NY can pull it out and run LA through its bullpen, that would be swell.
I mean, wow.
That ball almost stayed in orbit.
Embarrassing for Flaherty to be pulled like that
Rizzo swung at what? Twice? Oh, my. That was pathetic.
Right?!
Wells has earned this insult.
Daring Austin Wells is very dangerous.
Fun 😉
Has phenom ever been IBBed before?
come on, blind squirrel…
NUTS
Over to Verdugo for the RISP F[l]ail.
We want a walk.
This team is hilarious, even when they get a hit with RISP, they don’t score.
How DO they DO it?!
I’m not sure what the correct baserunning decision there was, but I do know the Yankees made the wrong one.
Nah, that was fine, Edman just made a great play.
Crazy how they position fielders.
It seems to work.
Which is annoying.
I think he was actually OUT of position there, and just made a great play to get there in time.
Dominguez can play left field now, please?
That slider looked hittable Vertigo
Verdugo
M_U_S_T
P_L_A_Y
Also, I have the radio audio on.
So much less bad.
At least we cleared to a clean top of the order for next inning
Getting Judge to his Golden Sombrero early. 🙁
No first baseman makes that play, but it still wasn’t great to see how slow Rizzo was in reacting to it.
His last AB and now that, he’s cooked.
Pull Cole now.
I have never believed more strongly that the Yankees will give Verdugo 3/51
Volpe’s transfer was very quick on that play
Yep it took a great throw
Boone woulda had contact play on
Spicy!
Amazing play by Chisholm
I wonder if Chisholm can tell Soto how to git gud
Okay, that was a bad ass move by Graterol.
One of these guys gotta make him pay for punking Gleyber like that.
NOW Judge gets a hit.
This ump’s zone makes NO sense.
it’s dreadful
Embarrassing for baseball to have this guy calling a WS game
I tweeted MLB. They never replied. I didn’t single out this guy rather that there were no top 10 umps in the series.
Send Cole out for the seventh?
For sure
Yankee strategy is to never blow teams away.
I think Cole is tiring
Do the Yankees have anyone warming?
Holmes…
Pull him now
Boy I really do not like Teoscar.
Cortes or Hill?
Really? Why?!
At least Cole can’t lose the game.
Cole needs to stand up to Boone there.
No I thought that at bat clearly showed he was losing it
It’s OK guys, Holmes is coming in.
HA HA HA HA HA HA
I wonder what the record for blown saves if you add together regular AND postseason. Because I think Holmes could do it.
Yanks -130/Dodgers +110 on the live line.
Holmes… Unbelievable.
Even when Boone does the right thing, he doesn’t.
Doesn’t look locked in!
Especially with THIS umpire, ya know?
Holmes with men on –DO NOT LIKE
here we go
Fake an injury now Clay.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
Holmes is so fucking annoying.
Eric Hosmer not a fan of the ump either: https://x.com/TheRealHos305/status/1849979330673119327
Holmes huh? See you in game 2.
I can’t judge Cole’s stuff but at 82 pitches I trust Cole over anyone in the pen.
Infield popups best popups.
Eric Hosmer This is to high level of a game for Carlos Torres to be working the plate, let alone working. He’s an awful umpire, he’s terrible to work with and hasn’t earned anything ❗️
Can’t keep missing these pitches. 0-1 versus 1-0 huge difference let alone with a guy like Juan Soto at the plate. It’s to long of a road for these teams to get here, to much on the line and we can’t have it❗️
Lucky-ass break. Make it stand up now.
Whew !
Rare great pull by Boone.
This might be the best inning of managing Boone has ever done.
I mean going to Holmes was stupid, so he still Booned it.
How far did you have to dig to find that bar?
Sic for the win
What a terrible call to bunt with Kike. Roberts is doing his best Boone impression.
Escape #2
Okay, someone explain this to me – if a changeup typically works because it is played off of a pitcher’s fastball, how does it work for Kahnle to keep throwing the changeup over and over again?
I read that and had the same question. It’s NOT a change-up at all without a fastball to be slower than, right?
Must be all arm action, I’d guess.
It’s essentially a nasty breaking pitch that’s hard to pick up at that point
Movement. And maybe theyrenot always expecting it? Eventually he HAS to throw a fastball right? And it still looks like a fastball out of the hand.
Jazz wearing No. 13 being that skinny is disrespectful to Luis Sojo.
the changeup is such a dumb fucking name for a pitch
whoops! great minds, etc
Nice take.
Verdugo strikes me as a likely Chad Curtis
… un … unlikely postseason hero? Or … or the … other thing?
the other
Volpe really does have nice skills
Soto is so bad
It’s annoying that Graterol and Vesia are healthy for this series.
Another hard hit Volpe ball right at someone.
It’ll be Kahnle for 2, Weaver for Betts.
Agreed.
Is every one of their relievers better than any of our relievers?
I think Weaver is on par with them, but otherwise, yeah, they have an excellent bullpen, ya know? It’s not much of a shot to say that their bullpen is better.
Oof
Holy shit, you fucking morons.
Defensive fuckin clinic right here.
Oh, for Pete’s sake.
We’d better get our wild pitch runs to make up for this.
Soto is a Gold Glove finalist.
If he makes a clean transfer they get him at second.
Ay-yep. Shitty transfer and then really bad throw. Soto is putting on a clinic tonight in how NOT to play the outfield.
He took a bad route, misplayed it off the wall, and double clutched, textbook
Just incredible.
What the fuck.
Dominos emergency pizza: now you have two emergencies.
how can he be that fast?! a good right fielder throws a fast guy out by 10 feet on that bounce
He didn’t make a clean transfer.
Soto was closer to catching that ball than the triple that got past him
The umpire damn jeez
Sloppy defense rears its ugly head again.
Stanton and Cole deserve to win. The rest of the team – not so much.
Gold Glove finalist. It’s just madness. Were there only three right fielders eligible this year?
I mean the Yankees are lucky to have only allowed two
All Volpe has to do is cut the ball off like a normal fucking human being and they’re going into the 9th with a lead. Cool. Fantastic.
Gleyber. I stand corrected.
It was a really bad throw by Soto, though. But yes.
It was well known prior to the trade that Soto was a bad defensive OF’er.
Yep. I mean, it’s obviously still worth it for his hitting, but ugh, he’s SO BAD.
Yeah I mean we knew it going in and we’re begging him to resign.
Soto having a big game for the Dodgers tonight
I think Weaver is good, just not as good as his results have been. How many lock down relievers do the Dodgers have left? We have Leiter??? From here it’s big Ad LA.
Can Stanton sneak up to the plate in a Wells jersey and a fake mustache?
A bad RISP team, a bad base running team, a mediocre defensive team. That’s how bad the AL was this year to have this team as AL Champs.
Verdugo mixing things up tonight, grounding out to third this time.
Good contact Dougie.
Well, well. A ground ball from Verdugo.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhqualifyingoffferrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice pick by the fan
???
I dunno
It s now or we lose 95%.
It wasn’t going out, so I don’t mind this call.
Yeah I don’t think Torres is getting to 3b. Nbd.
Definitely was gonna be off the top of the wall, likely double regardless. On the one hand, robs the Yankees of a chance to leg out a triple on a defensive miscue. On the other, keeps the Yankees from doing something stupid on the basepaths and getting thrown out on a clean hit.
Roberts BURNS through his relievers.
the poet Roberts Burns
Ae fond kiss and then we sever in the 9th or 10th
It would be nice for Judge to make them pay
hahahahaha
In Judge’s face right here.
Gleyber can’t possibly be THAT slow.
How is he taking these pitches?! What is he doing?!
This ump
At least he didn’t K.
Why pinch hit for Gleyber?
Shit.
Judge is lost, completely lost
Judge, ugh. Not up to the challenge.
It’s hard to imagine the Yankees winning this game.
Correct.
So now you can’t pinch run for Stanton. Great call, Boone!
Idiotic. Frustrating. Just awful.
Boone will find a way.
Play shitty defense, no hits w/RISP. The Yankees way.
Where, oh where would this team be without Constancarlo Stanton?
On the golf course. In nightclubs.
soto has not earned the right to make one-handed catches.
No he has not
Man, Boone is so bad.
Still, had they played good defense …
And so now it makes perfect sense to just walk Stanton if they get to the 10th, right? They can’t pinch run for him.
you still don’t want to put a guy on though
Whew.
Oh wait, Grisham is in there still. So I guess you pinch run him. My apologies, Boone!
It’s still a dumb, dumb move.
And I don’t know whether I’d pinch run for Stanton at all. Who knows how long this goes, and who else can you count on to hit? And he won’t be the lead runner anyway.
Sorry, forgot, postseason rules (and hallelujah!)
Bumblefucked into that catch, but I’ll take it.
amazing how these catches that a better player would make easily somehow prove he’s good
Time for Jazz to shine.
I doubt Rizzo has a HR left in him, but if he does, now is the time to bring it out.
He really needs to steal here.
They have Treinin for this inning, we have Cousins? Leiter? Nestor.
Cousins apparently is it.
Betts with actually good of play
While true, he’s a legit GOOD fielder, not just “Not as bad as Soto.” Dude played SHORTSTOP this year!
Steal third?
Has to be on the table with treinen’s delivery
Time for Volpe to shine.
Nice jazz!
RISP.
Volpe, what the fuck?!
Come onnnnnn wild pitch
Jeter looking good right about now.
ok that was not a strike on the bunt
Speed kills!
Blood stains. Speed kills. Fast cars. Jazz thrills.
WAY TO GROUND OUT AV!
Cousins my choice for the next inning.
That is who it appears it will be.
Yankees mvp: defensive miscues
On the other hand, if defensive miscues hadn’t played for the other earlier, they wouldn’t have had to bring him in now.
Jazz doing a Jackie on dem bums
Jazzy Robinson?
Well, any time you take the lead in the 10th inning in a WS game is a good thing. But how about a hit once in a while?
But Jazz shined.
Wooo!
Wish more of these were decided by great plays and hits than bad plays and screwups.
Jazz forcing it on the basepaths was cool though
Wells is so embarrassing.
Wells, so very lost. How does he even find his way to the plate?
The Yankees are all about speed.
Damn.
Not safe yet.
Wells is a fuckin scarecrow.
Smooth Jazz
Sitting Wells for a game would be a good idea
He’s been so good on defense, though, and Trevino can’t throw anyone out.
That is why Narvaez should be on the roster and NOT Trevino.
He’s had a lot of time off over the past month…
Please 123. Do not want to see ohtani.
Ain’t no way it’s gonna be that smooth.
Sigh.
Need a game-ending double play now to prevent Ohtani from hitting a walk-off home run.
Wells is the absolute worst.
Poisoned wells.
We are drifting into the arena of the unWells
Does Chisholm look a little like Patrick Ewing?
I think we know how this will end.
So very Yankees, walking Lux.
Holy shit, Cousins, what are you DOING?!
They’ve already gotten the Dodgers this far in the game with stupid stuff.
Fuck
Please just get it done.
That was a nice pitch Cousins.. Patty Duke would’ve made a better one.
From Barclay Square.
Only insomuch as he is always scowling. Ewing was huge, Jazz is svelte.
Watching fly balls head to Soto is making me think of a certain cetacean outfielder roaming the wilds of sea world.
It’s the cheekbones I think
Listen, Judge had chances to blow this game open in our favor.
100% do not want to see Nestor face ohtani.
Torres’ zone is crazy bad.
These pitchers never know how to get CLOSE.
This ump is so bad
Jesus FUCK
As I said, I think we know how this will end.
well that’s that
Double fuck
This team and groundballs hit where they ain’t.
the trouble is groundballs hitbwhere they is
I actually meant to say “hit in just the wrong spot.”
That was unfortunately not a game-ending double play.
Stupid black and white movie with the girl tied to the train tracks and smoke coming slowly, from so far away, over the trees.
What are the chances this ends well?
It was a pretty good game, though.
Fuck it.I want Nestor here. He won’t look like a deer in headlights.
Boone. What the fuck.
Nestor’s first batter will be Shohei Ohtani with the winning run at first in the 10th. Awesome. Just awesome.
And the genius pinch run puts a guy who has played 10 games at second in a position to lose the game.
Gleyber makes the play.
Yep. He’s SUCH a bad manager.
Yep, another moronic move by the moron.
In fairness Torres would have fluffed it too
Also now he doesn’t have another infielder
Boone trying his darndest to lose it. No one can top his “managing”.
Baby Paul Wall thinks he’s Jeter.
Verdugo?!!!!!
Almost Jeteresque
Huh?
Welp.
This is something
Merciful
oh well
well fucking fuck fuck fuck
Dangit.
Frederick thinks he’s Kirk Gibson.
That’s gonna leave a mark
That’s why I wanted Hill over Nestor, because Hill keeps the ball on the ground.
But I’ll admit that I had no confidence in Hill vs. Ohtani.
Also he’s pitched recently.
What a masterclass in mismanaging
Yeah, mind-boggling to use Nestor there, but I expected him to do something stupid to lose it and he did.
Walking Betts to put the winning run on second. WTF. A single would’ve done it.
Did the runners advance on the foul ball or not?
Well, they deserved that.
Can’t bring a guy in who hasn’t pitched in months. Well, the Yankees can.
They gave this game away with awful defense and the usual shitty hitting w/RISP.
I say this Series doesn’t get back to LA. Dodgers in 5, maybe 4.
Yankees can’t win with Boone as manager against a competent team. He finds a way to blow it.
The defense gave this game away.
Make no mistake; Soto blew this game hours ago.
Fact.
So, did the runners advance on the foul ball or not? It changes the entire complexion of the inning. If they did, then obviously you HAVE to walk Betts there.
I have them advancing.
Yeah they did
They advanced
I see.
Never should have gone to extras.
Fact.
Shitty defense, no hitting w/RISP.
I don’t remove Cole in the 7th at under 100 pitches. This forces Boone to use another pitcher. He pinch runs for Gleyber who would’ve made the play Waldo didn’t. And using Nestor who hasn’t pitched for a month over Hill who’s having a great post season
Boone said Cortes looked good in the pen. LHBs vs Hill 193 BA, GB 73%. Kay, Curry, Flash, all killing Boone.
Ohtani 2/18 against pitchers who throw from 1b like Hill. Pulling Cole questionable. Pinch running for Gleyber over managing. Using Nestor over Hill IDIOTIC!
Is there any reason to believe that this team wouldn’t find the most excruciating way to lose a game?
They lead the league in gut punch losses.
Luckily, they have the most experience with gut punch losses, so they also know how to come BACK from them.
Dramatic and brutal ending for the Yankees, but all they can do is tip their cap and get ready to hit Yamamoto hard.
Because what else are they going to do overnight, learn fundamental baseball?
Props to Jazz for manufacturing the then-go-ahead run, and to Stanton for manufacturing the previous go-ahead run.
I think we’re seeing what happens when they face a non-AL central team. I’m having a hard time visualizing a win in this series at this point.
Boone is, by far, the worst tactical manager I’ve ever seen in my time following baseball. Unless the move is obvious (bringing in your best relievers a the end of the game) he will almost always make the wrong call. They could overcome it against weaker teams, there’s no way that’s happening now. Team chemistry can’t overcome this level of ineptitude.
Yankees lost game one at home with CC pitching in 2009…..just saying
So you’re saying there’s a chance! 😉
They were a lot better, they had Jeter, Arod, Tex, Matsui and Cano in the lineup, with Posada coming off the bench. And they had Mo.
Dave Roberts thinks that Freddie Freeman took the Yankees intentionally walking Mookie Betts personally:
Oh so that’s why.
You know what, that game exhausted me.
