Shane Baz (#11, 25, RHP, 0-1, 5.23) vs. Marcus Stroman (33, RHP, 7-4, 3.51)
RAYS
TBA
YANKEES
TBA (but whatever it is, it’ll probably suck)
Shane Baz has still yet to lose a single game against the Yankees in his career. Expect that to continue. I love Boone’s rotation to start the second half. “Let’s not start our two best pitchers first, let’s mix things up, so our only other good starter appears in less games.”
“I love Boone’s rotation to start the second half.”
Trust the process, man.
Meredith asked Rowson about Stanton. Why didn’t she ask him about DJ, Veritgo and phenom?
A home run and three fly balls just what you want to see from a ground ball pitcher.
They were saying how good Stroman is on extra rest and you can bet if he shits the bad they’ll blame the extra rest.
Sort of Mike, Stanton coming back is so big only if he hits like he did before the injury not if he hits like he did after last Year’s injury.
Paulie’s great tonight.
Oh, for F*’s sake.
Bad AB Gleyber, bad luck Vertigo.
That’s actually one hell of a tag
batting order doesn’t matter but if Volpe starts hitting i hope they will resist making the same mistake a third time and leave him towards the bottom.
Paulie’s absolutely right.
If he’d let Volpe steal, that would have been a run right there.
DJ couldn’t have done that.
Bases loaded with Volpe, Oswaldo and Rice. Heh.
Doesn’t missing the bee count as a strike?
Oh, for F*’s sake.
How bad can their luck BE?
That’s seriously six runs worth of balls smashed right at the 1st baseman.
In 2 innings.
I was gonna say. TYM 2024.
Six base runners, two innings, no runs. Not easy to do. Yankees running away with the lead for grounding into double plays with the bases loaded.
That would’ve been deep enough Gleyber. Vertigo 56.
That’s on Gleyber but more so on Stroman who gave up the home run and the single.
Aroz loves NY.
Another day, another loss.
Un-F-ing-believable.
I’ve seen this before. The challenge is how much offense can you pack into every inning without actually breaking through on the scoreboard.
Yankees are good at hitting fly balls with a man on 3rd and two out
No hits since the 2nd inning. Rudderless Yankees with an inept CashBoone at the helm. Judge should demand a trade, Soto looking for his next gig.
Yankees have really ruined Gleyber. Everyone knows Boone is a bad tactical manager but why do do many players regress or get better away from here?
Judge’s hitting coach nailed it. I think Hal actually took notice of his remarks.
I’m not sure Hal cares much beyond attendance and YES ratings.
Very much a Murphy’s Law game when the one day Cousins doesn’t have it is when that homer turns out to be the difference in the game.
Your 2024 NY Yankees.
If he didn’t use Tonkin yesterday in an unwinnable game, they might have used him today.
I assume Holmes pitches a 1-2-3 ninth because it doesn’t matter now.
Gleyber destroyed that rally. I am tired of Gleyber and DJ, they are so bad offensively, two black holes sucking the life out of the Yankees lineup.
Rays were 26th in home runs going into today. Yankees have surrendered 4 home runs in back to back games.
Before today Yankee pitchers were 9th in home runs allowed, right now they are tied for 5th depending on other games.
RAB The Yankees have built their pitching staff largely around limiting hard contact and suppressing homers, sometimes at the expense of missing bats, and LOL
Paul after Judge home run and Wells single, “Yankees all of a sudden have “life”…..and then Gleyber came up.
So glad the ASB allowed Verugo to clear his head and come back rarin to go…0 for 11.
Also glad I didn’t watch one pitch of this terrible team. When they fire Boone and Cashman I’ll be back in.
watching that wasn’t smart
Well, Judge put it in the air, maybe he just missed it.
And he hit a foul home run.
That wasn’t even a real CT. I don’t like taking a called third strike there.
Yankees 1 up in the loss column on Minny, 2 on the townies, 3 on KC.
Boone looks shook up for the first time. He said certain guys are pressing a little bit.
In fairness, 2 rockets with (combined) 6 men on base went STRAIGHT INTO THE MITT of the first baseman. Add 6 runs to the Yankees’ side of the ledger and this game looks a little different.
But seriously – the biggest off-season move the Yankees could make would be signing Alex Cora. He cheated, he should be out of baseball, true.
But no player will ever have a WAR anywhere near the sum of the (huge) number of games Boone loses a team and the (modest, but real) number Cora wins for a team.
We know he’s a terrible tactical manager but is he also responsible for so many players having disappointing seasons while other players leaving the Yankees having their careers resurrected?
Honestly, it sort of makes Cashman look less dumb for wanting guys like IKF, Bader, and Rortvedt, when they all succeed for other teams. But just not here. Never here. The pressure just wilts way too many losers. That’s why they MUST re-sign Soto, he’s the rare guy who didn’t wilt at all.
Maybe but the big decision was keeping Boone.
Maybe he is responsible for part of that, but nobody’s ever made game-harming decisions at this rate, with this consistency. It’s crazy stuff.
Soto for player-manager!
The 2025 Gleyber and Verdugo-less Yankees is going to be so sweet.
I don’t know that I believe that so many players can’t stand the pressure in New York. It’s very likely the team is just doing something wrong with the players.
That’s how I feel especially for position players. Maybe the occasional pitcher but I strongly thinks it’s on the coaches, manager and support staff.
Ohtani is juicing.
The Dodgers got 6 off Cy Kutter Crawford? How’s that possible?
Red Sox almost had a crazy comeback. They’re such a better team than the Yankees right now.
Luckily, the Yankees have time to acquire a difference maker offensive player, plus the return of The Martian eventually (and I guess maybe Stanton, but we all know he’ll suck when he returns).
We have two players better than they have, the next ten Red Sox are all better than the next ten Yankees.
Who is that difference maker? Surely not the Marlins guy, Jazz Chisholm Jr. He’s a career 748 OPS.
Dodgers came close to blowing a 6 run lead in the 9th. Fortunately Kenley gave up 3 in the 8th.
Chase Hampton yesterday 3.2ip 0r 0h 3k @Tampa
Peraza 6/8 Can he remember he was a prospect?
Early start on Monday, I can’t wait.
