  1. I was somehow still a bit surprised when Verdugo expanded the zone at a guy who had walked two of the last three batters to swing at ball three (that would have made the count 3-1). Why was I surprised that they were going to botch the bases loaded in the first AGAIN?

Now Cole has to give up three runs in the first to make it complete that we’re just reliving every single Yankee game of the last month.

  2. I see we’re going to do the “Cole throws a lot of pitches, but the guy gets on base due to a fluke hit” routine again, like the Red Sox game.

While the Henderson single means automatic second base for him.

  3. How is it that we’re just ten pitches into the bottom of the first, and this is already one of the most frustrating games ever?

EDITED TO ADD: Twelve pitches in, and it’s somehow even MORE frustrating. Cole, what the fuck are you DOING, dude?

  4. Yesterday and today bases loaded 3 times with a total of 1 run scored. Can we talk about the hitting coach once again. Volpe and Vertigo horrible, Wells only now beginning to hit, DJ over the hill, Gleyber far and away the worst year of his career. On the flip side IKF and Rortvedt.

I mean it’s probably more Boone than Rowson.

    1. They’ve long since blown past the “improbable to the point of practical impossibility” barrier.

  5. Well, at least that wasn’t anywhere near close to a stolen base, just a lunkhead attempt. Consistency is what you want, right?

    1. I legit thought of you when they showed how bad the Orioles’ bullpen was this year, and I was, like, “Oh man, bebop is going to give them shit about how it WON’T be bad against the Yankees. The cure for all struggling bullpens.”

    1. Indeed. Hit batter, then falls behind Mullins 3-0 with 2 outs. Oh, I forgot to exhale. Ahhhhh!

  6. Well, he did hit the guy in the head. I’m sure it was unintentional though, but still Holmes, c’mon. Hopefully the league office will issue an edict to these two teams and end it here.

    1. Scary, but in a save situation in the rain and a struggling team, obviously a mistake. Hyde was a moron to make it a thing. MLB should absolutely be stepping in to prevent anything further.
