  2. Three hits against their worst starter and their secondary pen. We used our best relievers. O/U runs .5, hits 4.5.

    This offense especially looks like garbage against LHPs. Really think PGold and Heliot are going to do anything?

    Fuck Ryan McMahon for that idiotic base running blunder that landed him on the IL and made the defense even worse.

    This is a monumentally stupid team.

  10. Put bottom of the 4th and top of the 5th in a time capsule. Bad baserunning, a bad send caused by the baserunner, an error, a play that should’ve been made, a passed ball by a catcher that should’ve be in the minors. And a team that can’t hit even with Bellinger back,

    1. Being awful at fundamentals is a part of who they are. Cashman sees no problems. Hal sees nothing but the $$$,

    1. With one out Rosario needed to stay halfway and not go back to tag. The play wasn’t as close as yesterday with Cody. A good throw gets him. With 2out it’s a send, with one out and Cody up it’s not.

  14. And to some post above: the difference between Ramos and Goldschmidt, besides the obvious fielding factor, is that Goldschmidt singlehandedly kept this team afloat for a month THIS SEASON, after Judge went down and before he went from white hot to ice cold.

  16. This team could be a real contender with a total revamp of its strategy, execution, and leadership.
    If Cone were the manager, Posada the bench coach, O’Neill the hitting coach.
    Hell, Posada as third base coach would be an improvement over the status quo.

Yeah, it’s just part of the problem with the offense – roster construction / platoon dependence being another part – but I do think the lack of a two-strike approach is a significant part of the failure to get runs across. A normal ratio is 3 swinging strikeouts for every 1 looking. Today through 8 innings the Yankees have 3 swinging and 5 looking. That’s four extra strikeouts because they don’t protect the plate. Two of those were with RISP, where a hit or an error could have scored a run.

      Edit: final, 6 times looking and just 3 times swinging.

    2. Paul always says he looked fastball and then adjusted. If you’re always guessing you’re taking called third strikes.

      If you hit weak grounders and pop ups that’s on you. If you have no approach that’s on Boone and Rowson.

  20. Kirschner in Spring wrote about the Yankees wanting to be more of a platoon-based team. Boone even talked to John Schneider about that

    Chris Mcgonicle can’t ever remember the Yanks being this much of a “platoon” team ever in my life. In the biggest game of the year, 3 of the first 4 hitters in the lineup hardly ever play

    1. A platoon is useful if and only if the players actually hit. Better to play the hot hand irrespective of handedness.
      Of course there aren’t *any* hot hands on this team right now, but Rosario and Ramos have been worse than useless for a while.

    2. A platoon team is a team that’s screwed after the first time they flip the line-up.
      I can see why you might occasionally be forced into it, but why would you ever WANT it?

  25. Yankees last games 136 BA, 056 RISP. But Boone and Rowson have nothing to do with that. Jasson and phenom in the minors, Wells with the worst year of his career, Jazz underachieving, but Boone and Rowson have nothing to do with that.

    1. So much history-making by the team in 2026. A feather in Boone’s cap as Yankees manager. Surely the HoF will want his cap on display.

    That’s their most singles without an extra-base hit in a 9-inning game since May 1, 1999 vs Royals (also 13).
