Yankees.com: A ‘broken record’ for Yanks: Schlittler shines, but bats can’t back him up

A familiar storyline has continued to plague the Yankees in recent weeks, as New York’s starting rotation gives the club a chance to win but the offense doesn’t provide the run support to back those strong outings.

That was the case on Saturday at Rogers Centre, as Cam Schlittler operated without his sharpest command but still managed to work 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball in the Yankees’ 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays. The 25-year-old racked up seven strikeouts on 97 pitches (56 strikes) while surrendering four hits and three walks.

Hard to pick a featured image in this one. I could go Headrick giving up the go-ahead run, but I dunno, man, did this game seriously turn on a reliever giving up a single run to make it 2-1? No way, it’s all on the offense.

MLB.com didn’t have video of Heliot Ramos failing to run out a groundball that was bobbled by the shortstop (had he been running out of the box, he likely would have made it to first), so I had to go with George Lombard Jr.’s terrible baserunning on a double play when it was still a 1-1 game. You do whatever you can to disrupt that throw back to first base, and he did not do that. He just gave himself up. Awful baserunning.

They don’t run the bases well, they don’t hit and, apparently, they don’t even give it their all. Fuck these guys so hard. Ramos better be on the bench today for Cease’s Perfect Game.
