Sure hope the offense shows up today.
Losing this game would be so Yankees.
If Warren is that scared of Kurtz he should just wave him over to first.
I like the way that when Grisham booted that Warren reacted for about a tenth of a second before he backed up home, and then he got up and threw strikes until he got out of the inning.
How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky? How bad was Trent’s jump?
Well done all around in that 1st inning. 👏🏻
Judge looks like he needs a week off.
It’s so weird how this specific Athletics team gets up for the Yankees.
The Yankees [p]lay down to their level is the answer.
They didn’t play down to the Royals, ya know? This A’s team, though, really plays them TOUGH. Their star hitters were all slumping before this series, and now they’re all hot.
A wee bit of luck this inning
Eight runs in so far in the top of the third.
Okay, ten runs in.
A. Goldy has to challenge more, but B. Okay, challenging in a 10-run inning with no outs seems a bit tacky.
Judge is so lost.
LOL Judge. OPS 911, he needs to call 911-hitting-coach.
13 run inning is the most since…that Tampa bay game years ago?
If we want to win a championship we can’t afford to carry PGold and Judge.
How will Will Warren deal with this?
Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, James Rowson is a savant.
Judge going to get a half game off today?
Grisham choke job.
Everybody’s sanguine this is just a slump?
I didn’t think Judge could look this bad if he sincerely tried.
Yeah, I’m sure it’s just a slump. He had a hot streak THIS season. Had he not had the hot streak, I’d be concerned.
I LOVE that Rice is fine at DH. That’s always good info to have.
Sterling would have loved that stat they just put up there, that the Athletic pitchers have retired every Yankee so far in the game…except for the third inning.
And until they brought in “Lighter fluid” Leiter, who just sets everything on fire.
This would be quite the loss.
If Lieter is Lieter Fluid, is Hill now Alldown Hill?
Seems kind of fucked up to use Hill in this inning. Why not just use Yarbrough to close the game out?
A guy like Hill is just going to make the hitter make contact, and that sometimes means a home run.
I mean, NOW, yes, you just use Headrick and Cruz with a day off tomorrow.
Hill has been wonderful… Not.
Boy, Hill does NOT have it today.
The Giants have 17-runs today, the Yankees may need that as well. 🤔
Wells, what the fuck?!!? If you’re not going to hit, you can’t fuck up on defense, too!!
Can Headrick and Cruz protect a six run lead? I guess Bednar comes in if it is within 4 runs, right?
Yes, Cruz, open with a ball, you dick.
Are they going to lose this fucking game?!
The A’s resting Soderstom is one of the best things for the Yankees.
Kurtz is so good that it’s hard to give ANY reliever too much shit for getting tagged by him.
Can they get four outs before allowing five runs?
Okay, three outs before allowing five runs.
Can they pull it off?
Do NOT like Bednar coming in with a five-run lead. He WILL dick around.
Okay, two outs before giving up five runs. Can they do it?
Four pitch walk up five. Jesus, Bednar!
They are killing me. KILLING ME. Two on, one out.
Kurtz is SO coming up this inning.
One more out before five runs score?
How they love to make victory feel depressing!
I am still quite happy with the win! The A’s just get up for them. It is what it is. They still took two out of three, so I’m happy!
Second best record in the AL!
Keith Law revised top 50
George Lombard #6
For the second year in a row, Lombard got off to a hot start and the Yankees promoted him inside of a month, so he’s now in Triple A, only hitting .198/.358/.233 but drawing walks (obviously) and at least keeping the strikeouts in check. He’s had some bad luck already, hitting the ball much harder than the statline indicates, but he’s been somewhat passive as he was after his promotion to Double A early last year. He’s a gifted shortstop and a 55 to 60 runner who has enough power to get to 15-20 homers in time. Given his history of adjusting to new levels over long periods of time, I’m not worried about the slow start.
I was fascinated in seeing him move Lombard up to #6, and now I know why. Interesting stuff.
