How ’bout they try hitting this game?
And another Judge K.
I missed it, and the reports are confusing.
Help me out, guys – was the Austin Wells home run a pop-up, a strikeout, or a weak grounder?
Austin goes to the Wells.
Grisham 154/584.
Why are the Rays playing in their pajamas?
Why bother even getting dressed to play a team that can’t hit?
As seen on Gameday.
Rice seems oddly out of place on this team.
At least Toronto lost already.
Way, way, way, way, way too early to worry about the relative suckage of other teams. If they suck, who cares?
They actually got two consecutive challenge wrong?
I thought that would never happen again.
Who needs runs?
As SOON as they gave him a day off, Stanton proceeded to suck.
Lagrange 3.1ip 2r 2h 8K 4bb
Lombard 2/3 464/1388
Hess 2,2 ip 5BB
Thrilled about ONE of those results!
We are bad
This has got to really psychologically fuck with a pitcher to know that a second run means a loss at the moment.
Five hits not too shabby
If you take the “i” as a iotated “j”, which are often equivalent, they pretty much have a player named Jane Seymour.
The Yankees’ only hope strikes – DUMB LUCK!
Why on earth would you walk Wells? The chances of him getting TWO hits in a game has to be unfathomably infinitesmal.
Rays pen sucks
Goldy HAS to be a better option here than Cabby.
Any ground ball would score the run, and he failed.
Why would they have walked him? Crazy talk.
That was their chance – if you count the situation but discount the hitter.
Is Boone under the mistaken impression that Goldy is just a terrible hitter now? He’s not that good, but he doesn’t SUCK.
CABBY! Stunned!
I literally don’t believe it.
As in, it’s not true.
Why in the fuck is BAKER their closer? He’s TERRIBLE. Jax is actively GOOD. Why is Baker closing?!
Binder said something about lanes.
Quantum theory of randomness
“Is Boone under the mistaken impression that Goldy is just a terrible hitter now? He’s not that good, but he doesn’t SUCK.”
…
Well, come on. He’s no Escarra.
And on cue, Fried sucks.
I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue
Whose fault was that?
Great. No one covered first. Great.
And Fried wastes no time giving up the lead.
“This is what this guy does.”
Grounds out? Fuck the heck, Binder?
Is that Fried or Jazz’s fault? It ultimately didn’t matter, as they had no chance at the speedy Simpson, but still.
Goldy HAS to at least hit for Grichuk, right?
LOL
You GOTTA walk Rice here.
Why is Grichuk hitting instead of Goldy?! What is Boone’s deal with Goldy?!
Well what a shock, they walked Rice in front of… of Grichuk.
I just do not get it. What is Boone’s deal with Goldy?!
Maybe it’s not Goldy, maybe it’s us he wants to see cry.
All that I can think is that he thinks Goldy is washed, even though Goldy has looked pretty good THIS SEASON. It’s BAFFLING.
Washed would often have been better than the alternatives this year.
Boone has regressed as a manager, and that is saying a lot. Gotta get Grichuk going, or something.
It’s so fucking weird. Grichuk has had some decent-looking at-bats (and some bad ones), but there’s no way he’s better than Goldy. It’s the DH spot!!
What would you say are the chances the Yankees actually win this game?
Low, but not microscopic.
That’s true, and I know it… but it FEELS crazily optimistic.
I do NOT get this move. There are two outs. Just let Cruz get this guy.
Good grief. The Mariners have the stupid trident, now the A’s have a stupid gold chain with an elephant’s head on it. But, as if that is not enough:
https://www.mlb.com/news/athletics-elephant-chain-mask-home-run-celebration
Yeah, that’s….special.
Fucking 3-1 popups. They are fucking MASTERING the 3-1 popup this season so far.
So they somehow need Cabby to get a hit twice in a game. Good luck!
Wells had his hit for the week so no surprise.
By the way, wasn’t Cabby only a Ray for, like, a season and a half? They’re acting like he has something to prove to them.
Cabby!
Wow, Cabby, shocking.
Okay, let’s go through this again. The Rays pitcher had disengaged twice, so he couldn’t throw over. Thus, Cabby could very easily steal the base. And Rosario’s best idea was to…swing first pitch!?! What the fuck are they coaching these guys!?
I was thinking the same thing. Insane. Just insane. I mean… just insane.
Maybe without even the “s”.
We have coaches?
Can’t even blame anyone there. It was just a great play by Simpson.
Sigh.
Again, can’t even blame anyone. You certainly wouldn’t want to walk Walls there, which would be the only way to avoid that.
It annoys me that the shitty hitters on other teams at least know how to BUNT.
I think you’re being annoyed by the wrong thing, but your point is so right on target.
This loss is gonna be laughable.
Remember what the Dodgers said about the Yankees after the 2024 WS.
We all remember.
In part because we’d been saying it all along anyway.
Why did Jazz even throw the ball?
Well, at least they have… how many outs?
That’s a fucking ROUGH loss for Bednar.
Two bunts, a strikeout, and a chopper, and he blows the save and loses the game.
Well that sucked
Smooth Jazz, Mr. Last Year’s announcer?
What a bunch of clowns.
An ill put together team, and ill-coached and ill-managed as well.
Having watched it, I feel a bit ill.
No wonder it was weird.
Agreed, that was it.
Lagrange hits 102+ mph NINE times in latest Triple-A start
https://www.mlb.com/news/yankees-prospect-carlos-lagrange-102-mph-triple-a-start?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage
Missed most of it but Rosario fumbled the ground ball and then Jazz failed to cover first. Could Jazz have turned a double play later if he made the catch.
And why do other team’s shitty hitters know how to bunt. I’m talking about phenom and Cabby.
No hits from Trent 146 or Judge 212. pitchers will soon stop throwing strikes to Trent.
I totally agree on them not knowing how to bunt thing. But that was a great bunt by Simpson, so I don’t begrudge Rosario. I don’t think Jazz was turning two, but you’d like to believe that he could throw home in time if he fielded it cleanly.
It was a good bunt but he didn’t deaden it and if Rosario fields it clean he gets him. If later Jazz covers first and Bednar strikes out the next batter as he did it goes into the 11th. I think.
Now I understand Aaron Boone considered pinch-hitting Paul Goldschmidt for Randal Grichuk in the ninth but didn’t. Why?
“I felt like it was a good spot for (Grichuk), too.”
10-4 Pythag
