It seems fitting that they give us one last CT by taking the division race all the way to the final game before they blow it.
Hopefully Jazz is okay. I imagine the next day that forearm is just waaaaaay too painful to play, but I bet it’ll be okay by Tuesday.
Whatever happens, I just want you to know: It’s EXTREMELY funny if the Marlins win.
Ay-yep.
Rays with a quick run, but so, too, did the Red Sox.
The Rays got a run in the first.
What an odd take by Grisham there.
I was legit in the middle of a complaint about not liking Rice batting in front of Judge when he hit that home run.
My point still sort of stands, honestly.
Don’t expand the zone, Judge!
Rice!
Nice year for the kid.
Belli sure has been making some quick outs lately.
Why don’t you like Rice batting in front of Judge?
If it’s to get Judge more at-bats, I could see it.
That’s exactly the reason. Judge should always bat 2nd.
Blue Jays, of course, get their leadoff man on in the bottom of the first.
Raleigh’s first crack at 61.
Popup.
His first today, not nearly his first.
Raleigh pops out on the first pitch of his first at-bat in this last regular season game.
Just like that, the Jays tie it.
What an insanely bad opening by Seymour. Two walks and then a single. Ugh.
Seymour channeling a Yankees starter, 27 pitches and counting, bases loaded.
Tampa Bay really should be cool and just pull Seymour. It’s the last day of the season, just have a bullpen game. Bases loaded with one out, and he’s at 28 pitches already.
They should, but they haven’t.
5-1?
Jeez.
Grand slam. Okay, division is over.
Grand Slam. That’s the AL East.
Okay, that’s it for the day. I can just get some other stuff done.
Fuck you very much, Tampa Bay. Holy SHIT were they pathetic in this series.
Do we wanna help the Yankees. 🤔 No. Mail it in.
Why is the wrong team nervous in that game?
The Yankees let them into the playoffs in 2011. The Yankees lent them their stadium for this season.
And for that, they just fuck them by being pathetic pieces of shit against the Blue Jays. Like, if the Blue Jays eked out three wins, fair enough, but the Rays haven’t been in any of these games past a couple of innings. Just pathetic.
Also, fuck you to the Tigers for preferring to play the Guardians than the Yankees, so they’re throwing Chris fucking Paddack out there today.
I doubt thats true Why burn Skubal with nothing at stake.
I don’t mind not throwing Skubal out there. But Paddack is certified trash.
Yankee pitcher special – get to 1-2 and then walk the guy.
Fuck you to Boone for pissing away June and July
Fuck Jake Bird and whoever acquired him
And now what’s the point of two pitches NOWHERE NEAR the strike zone after a quick first two strikes?
Dammit, Gil, get your stuff together.
The Red Sox rolling a guy off of the turnip truck, and he’s dominating the Tigers.
It really is fucked up that Kevin Cash isn’t trying his best to win that game. It’s the final game of the season, every pitcher should be available.
Look at that Seymour’s era. People recover from a stupid rocky 1st inning HR all the time. I don’t think the bullpen is a better bet than Seymour settling down.
Ugh.
I remember saying when Baltimore was sucking against Toronto for those games without Westburg, that you just KNEW he was going to do well when he was healthy enough to play the Yankees at the end of the season.
Boone cost the Yankees 10 wins. There it is.
This why you’re out of the playoff rotation, Gil.
Oh, for my sakes, Gil!
They should probably bring Yarbrough in soon.
TB making a bit of a game of it, I like it.
Boone really is just an albatross, a mountain on this team’s back.
I do kind of like Kirk.
Rays pull a Yankees and get a guy thrown out at home on a contact play.
Called strike one on Bellinger is the billionth reason you want robot umps.
TB within 1
3-1 pitch coming to Raleigh.
Raleigh walks.
3-2 on Raleigh, runner on 3rd w/ 2 outs, but I doubt he’ll just try to get the run in.
And he walks.
Not a lot of chances left.
Apparently it’s not all that easy to hit 62.
Lug!
Sure would have been nice to have Jazz up here instead of Wells.
Wells swung at three balls. Excellent work, douchebag.
Volpe fouls off ball four. Ugh.
BOY were those shitty at-bats by Wells and Volpe.
Wells, Volpe,and McMahon a pitcher’s best friend.
Our “hitting” coach works for the opposition.
Well, at least they cleared three of the four pitcher’s spots at the bottom of the lineup.
You’d like to get more out of that. Still…
Seymour holding them right there.
Classic 1-2 to a walk by Gil. These fucking idiots.
And meanwhile, fucking Paddack was allowed to remain in the game to blow it for Detroit, giving up a two- run home run to David fucking Hamilton.
Two strikes, here we go.
2 outs, bases loaded for the Rays highest-OPS hitter
And Gausman’s relieved in the 4th.
(It’s not saving him, he was at 85 pitches.)
And Mudville Aranda strikes out.
phenom almost threw that away despite having plenty of time
Why do the Yankees NEVER TAKE PITCHES when Cabby is on first?!
It’s just such shitty fundamentals.
Mets down 4-0 bottom of the 4th. Reds losing 3-2 bottom of the 4th.
Reds now down 4-2. If the Mets can make a comeback, they’ll probably make the playoffs.
Of course the Rays would have to get it close, just to make the CT that much more painful.
Caballero is just INSANELY reckless. You have Aaron fucking Judge due up this inning, you fucking idiot.
It’s just INSANE how someone who is SUCH a good basestealer can also be SO fucking stupid.
Damn. Well, that’s inning reversed itself in a hurry.
They gotta stop letting these guys swing 3-0. When is the last time a Yankee got a hit swinging 3-0?
Raleigh strikes out.
That’s pretty much it, I think, for him.
Definitely not passing Judge, obviously.
Cal Raleigh strikes out to end the fifth.
Juan Soto up in a huge spot for the Mets.
Soto walks to load the bases, but Alonso then lined out on the first pitch to end the inning. Ouch.
Yankees get picked off a lot.
Caballero, in particular, gets picked off WAY too much. He’s not a good enough player to be THAT reckless.
You gotta drop that pitch, Cruz. Ugh.
Oh great, a Cruz meltdown. How can you trust this guy when he can have a meltdown at any fucking moment?!
BB Cruz
It’s just a recurring lack of fundamentals with this team. The pitchers know what they’re supposed to do, they just won’t do it. The runners get picked off of SECOND BASE with NO OUTS. They’re just a bunch of idiots.
Cashman: I see nothing, I know nothing.
I wouldn’t mind him getting picked off first, just not second. Boone doesn’t want to mess with their aggressiveness but some guys you need to.
Why did they take out Gil at all? 79 pitches, one blip inning.
Nice to see OTHER teams do that shit.
Wow, he got out of it.
Wow, Kirk putting on a show.
At the worst time for NYA.
Okay, that should just about do it, so it really doesn’t matter what the Yankees do for the rest of this game.
Or not. Everyone said that after the grand slam.
It’s only four runs, hardly a record.
This is the Seinfeld game. It’s a game about nothing.
Rays realize they don’t want to help the Yankees.
Dammit. Was hoping Judge might catch Ohtani.
Wait, why didn’t Weaver walk Beavers? I thought that was required.
Balls 2 and 3 were, again, utterly useless.
Why do they DO that?
Jazz, nice to see.
Would he be here yet if Cabby hadn’t been picked off?
Well, no non-Yankee taking or even sharing the HR record this year.
So that’s good.
Judge needs to up that record in 2026.
Rice!
Awesome.
Well, all right, THAT pretty much does it in Toronto.
Damn.
Raleigh singles in the 8th, although already – who cares? Not getting to 62, and very unlikely to 61.
With Judge winning the BA title how can this really still be an argument.
Reiterating from yesterday:
Boone will be heralded for righting the Yankee ship while avoiding ANY blame for the Yankees record from June 13 to August 4 going 18–27, the fifth-worst record in MLB during that span. The slump caused them to fall from first to third place in the AL East. If they didn’t suck so hard in that period they’re would be no wild card opponent worries.
The best version of this team keeps Wells, Volpe, and McMahon all on the bench.
Caballero starts at SS, Chisholm at 2B, and Boone returns to 3B for harm reduction’s sake, plus he might get hold of one in extra innings against Wakefield’s ghost.
I’m willing to give Wells half a season to get it right in 2026.
I don’t know about using Bednar. No days off in the first round of the playoffs.
It’s also ridiculous to have two intradivisional wild card series.
Reds lose; Mets three outs remain to do something in.
They’re playing a more balanced schedule but Cleveland with 87 or 88 wins get a bye but the Yankees with 93 or 94 wins don’t. Ridiculous. Do they do this in other sports?
The Yankees win.
Say what you will, but they ended the season in style.
Boone cost them the division; well, Cashman did too, because he [Cashman] keeps Boone as manager.
Mets, one on, one out, top of the order now batting in the top of the 9th.
I’ve got nothing against the Mets, but I would kind of like to have Soto watching Judge in the playoffs from his couch.
He can watch Judge from the couch of his family’s luxury suite in Queens.
Mets going golfing as Lindor bangs into a season ending DP.
Yay! But stupid and unfair. If the season series had been 3-3 instead of 4-2 they would’ve used an entirely different tiebreaker.
Soto doesn’t seem like a guy even capable upon reflecting upon what has happened, but this would be a lovely time for him to start.
Congratulations on tying for the best record in the AL.
How the hell did THAT happen? Sure didn’t feel like it.
Early June felt like a lock.
Mets were 15 over on June 1, 17 under since June 13th.
And Soto ended up with a terrific season after a dreadful start to 2025. And still the Boys of Shea collapsed.
Apparently they play better when Soto sucks
Mendoza “It’s my fault and I need to be better.”
Boone would never, ever say that. Didn’t in 2023, and hasn’t said it after any other year’s playoff losses.
Crochet 3-0 2.9 era vs Yankees
Bello 5-4 2.35
Whitlock 5-1 1.77 Brooks Kriske 0-0 54 era
Chapman 0-1 1.80
Giolito 3-3 4.46 if a game 3
It was a nice season. Mets await on the back 9.
Only questions
Do you catch Rice or Wells against Crochet?
Do you go for Defense or Offense, McMahon or Rosario, Fried v Crochet?
Fuck, tough call since Wells DID hit a home run off of Crochet this season.
I guess you gotta stick with Rice. I’d definitely go Rosario.
Goldy
Judge
Belli
Stanton
Rosario
Rice
Grisham
Jazz
Volpe
In the early division series pricing:
NYY -178
BOS +158
Game 1:
NYY -132
BOS +112
Have they SEEN Crochet pitch?
If you devig the game 1 numbers, the implied probabilities are NYY 55%/BOS 45%. That’s pretty close to Crochet neutralizing HFA for NY in the game. It’s a pretty significant boost to the line for Boston.
I haven’t run my fairs yet but that sounds pretty close to me. Decent chance the line moves toward the Yanks by first pitch. Probably can get a plus-EV spot on the Townies if it gets around +120ish.
If you take out a clear outlier period of adjustment to a new grip, I bet Fried has been BETTER than Crotchet this year.
Katy S Players in MLB history to have a season with at least
✅90 singles
✅30 doubles
✅50 homers
✅120 walks
Aaron Judge (2025)

Man, I really hate the current playoff format.
