    1. By the way, I just asked AI who the best hitter on the Mariners is – and it doesn’t think Cal Raleigh is even that.
“Julio Rodríguez is the Mariners’ best overall hitter in 2025. While Cal Raleigh posted a historic power surge (60 HR) and a marginally higher OPS, Julio’s combination of a high batting average, elite on‑base skill, strong slugging, and elite speed gives him the highest total offensive value and makes him the most complete batter on the team.”

  1. Please, please, please Cam don’t do this. It’s just an inning like any other. Just pitch the way you’ve been pitching so far.
Sweet Jesus, just don’t collapse here.

    1. In all fairness, he’s never been in that situation before, so no one’s ever discussed with him what to do, and what NOT to do, when you have a batter 0-2.

    1. Hit him on the forearm with a 97 MPH sinker. Jazz in a lot of pain, left the game.

It wasn’t his wrist, so hopefully it’s just a combination of it been really painful and them being up six.

    2. As O’Neill noted, he got hit in a spot with a lot of “meat,” so let’s hope it was just a matter of it hurting a lot and the Yankees being up 6 towards the later part of the game.

    3. Damn. But yes, let’s hope it’s just that. Jazz is a weird player, but he’s so important to this team…

  2. Obviously you take him out after this inning, but at the same time, I’m kind of curious to see him start the eighth and see if he can get through it in, like, ten pitches with a six run lead.

But, again, obviously he is done for the day, and the Yankees have to be pretty pumped about him as the Game 3 starter.

  3. So apparently the Seattle ballpark, which used to suppress home runs, now has a park factors of 115%.
Plus Glasnow, good as he is, gives up home runs at a significantly higher than average rate (of COURSE he does).
Raleigh has hit fewer home runs at home this year, but not by a huge amount.

    1. I’m rooting for Detroit to tie Boston in the standings (Detroit has the tiebreaker) because I’d rather not go through yet another NYY-BOS postseason series.

  4. Other than the Yankees winning and the Blue Jays losing, the best case scenario now is that Detroit and Cleveland both win tomorrow, in which case the Yankees would get the Tigers in the first round if they’re stuck in the Wild Card.

Amusingly, of course, in the scenario, I bet the Red Sox would beat both the Guardians AND the Mariners.

    1. I hope so but that’s so stupid. They’re should be a playoff. Remember 1951 NL? 1978 AL. Same with Yankees and Toronto.

    2. Now that the Phillies have lost, the Brewers now have nothing to benefit from winning Sunday.

I’m sure they’ll still try to win the game, of course, but they don’t NEED it like they did if the Phillies had won (as if the Phillies swept the Twins, they would get the #1 seed over the Brewers if the Brewers got swept).

  5. Meanwhile Boone will be heralded for righting the Yankee ship while avoiding ANY blame for the Yankees from June 13 to August 4 going 18–27, the fifth-worst record in MLB during that span. The slump caused them to fall from first to third place in the AL East. If they didn’t suck so hard in that period they’re would be no wild card opponent worries.

  6. Hoch Brent Headrick had a locker in the Yankees clubhouse after today’s game. Luis Gil is starting Game 162, so he may be off the roster for a Wild Card series.
