You know they have to eventually lose one of these.
EDITED TO ADD: Oops, sorry, this was scheduled to go live on time, but it didn’t for some reason.
The rumors of Gianni’s demise were an exaggeration.
Oops he’s done it again. We asked John McEnroe, about the AL MVP, he said “Cal Raleigh YOU CANT BE SERIOUS!”
UJD says you and McEnroe are both dumb, pig-headed homers.
By the way, I just asked AI who the best hitter on the Mariners is – and it doesn’t think Cal Raleigh is even that.
“Julio Rodríguez is the Mariners’ best overall hitter in 2025. While Cal Raleigh posted a historic power surge (60 HR) and a marginally higher OPS, Julio’s combination of a high batting average, elite on‑base skill, strong slugging, and elite speed gives him the highest total offensive value and makes him the most complete batter on the team.”
Well, now, that’s just silly.
But anything that helps get Judge up again sooner works for me!
Finally a third member of the new Bash Brothers.
Schlittler’s pitch count is acceptable. But inning five is so often the test…
Way to help the other guy’s pitch count, people. Maybe don’t do that at this point in the game?
Please, please, please Cam don’t do this. It’s just an inning like any other. Just pitch the way you’ve been pitching so far.
Sweet Jesus, just don’t collapse here.
Could they just have a game where their starter doesn’t just inexplicably lose all control at some point?
And then he strikes two guys out…
…and just when you thought it was safe, he hits another guy?
0-2 count, time to throw a ton of bullshit!
It’s crazy how often you can predict a 3-2 count after an 0-2 count.
But hey, at least he got the out.
In all fairness, he’s never been in that situation before, so no one’s ever discussed with him what to do, and what NOT to do, when you have a batter 0-2.
Whew.
Legit surprised they’re pulling him. They are really playing this shit like it’s a playoff game.
Man, both of those were balls, per GD, but both SOOO close. What are they chances an ump gets both of those right? Infinitesmal, I think.
And again. Crazy.
Good work right there, ump.
Nice at bat, Rice!
Aaaand of course when the ump screws up, it’s a ball to Judge called a strike.
Both inside pitches were balls. No strikes thrown yet.
But all on the edges.
The guy walks two dudes, and THEN you start giving him those pitches?!
Umpires are such a stupid idea.
What a job by Wolfram. Bring in the lefty to walk the two lefties so he has to face the righty with the bases loaded. Nice hit by Judge.
That Stanton walk made a lot of sense. At this point, just try to get the lefties out.
Did that fucking dude just injure Jazz in Game 161?!
What happened?
Hit him on the forearm with a 97 MPH sinker. Jazz in a lot of pain, left the game.
It wasn’t his wrist, so hopefully it’s just a combination of it been really painful and them being up six.
As O’Neill noted, he got hit in a spot with a lot of “meat,” so let’s hope it was just a matter of it hurting a lot and the Yankees being up 6 towards the later part of the game.
Damn. But yes, let’s hope it’s just that. Jazz is a weird player, but he’s so important to this team…
Yes! Strangely, perhaps, Beavers felt like a big at-bat in this game, and Schlittler went right after him and got him.
Hopefully he gets through seven. Then Weaver for one, and then if the score holds, Blackburn for the ninth.
You could even talk me into Cruz for the 8th.
I have a guess as to who the 3rd starter is going to be.
I’ll never tell, though!
What a game by Schlittler.
Schlittling at its finest!
Obviously you take him out after this inning, but at the same time, I’m kind of curious to see him start the eighth and see if he can get through it in, like, ten pitches with a six run lead.
But, again, obviously he is done for the day, and the Yankees have to be pretty pumped about him as the Game 3 starter.
Seven innings, 2 hits, 97 pitches, 9 Ks. Well alright.
Was Jazz hit in retaliation?
Wolfram was wild all inning, so probably not.
This isn’t an insane decision to go Blackburn here, but I don’t like it.
What is the point of resting guys? You only have one more game!
Yep, already this move looks terrible after the leadoff home run.
Holy shit, Blackburn, what the fuck are you doing?!
See, that would have been a fine inning up 6 in the ninth. But now he’s going to have to pitch up five in the ninth.
George Springer trying to steal bases in the first inning is silly.
X-Rays were negative on Jazz’s forearm. They’ll do a CT, but that there isn’t an obvious fracture is clearly very good news.
Man, Stanton had a few awful years where we NEVER thought we’d see performance like this again.
He’s been fantastic!
Nice game by Schlittler. Well done, young man.
Will they win this challenge?
Apparently not.
Wow, Toronto not fucking around. They’re throwing Gausman tomorrow.
But they have no such pitching tonight, this is the one you want.
Blackburn really came in here with the perfect attitude. If he was willing to take $2 million next year, he could be a useful long man.
Go Rays.
So apparently the Seattle ballpark, which used to suppress home runs, now has a park factors of 115%.
Plus Glasnow, good as he is, gives up home runs at a significantly higher than average rate (of COURSE he does).
Raleigh has hit fewer home runs at home this year, but not by a huge amount.
Fuck you very much, Tampa Bay.
Oh well, the Yankees did this to themselves.
Boone.
Beautiful win for the Yankees, anyway.
Rays phoning it in
Seriously. How badly can they suck?

I didn’t realize that. Only three ever? Amazing.
Judge is really the clear pick for MVP.
Other than winning the division I’m not sure who to root for tomorrow. Who would we prefer to meet in the first round?
I’m rooting for Detroit to tie Boston in the standings (Detroit has the tiebreaker) because I’d rather not go through yet another NYY-BOS postseason series.
I get using Gausman tomorrow, but boy, that could really come back to bite them if they lose the division.
Playoff series against Boston is too stressful at my age.
I agree I don’t need the agita of a first round series with Boston
Clay Holmes 6 shutout innings. Cincy leading by 3 against Brewers in the 9th.
Other than the Yankees winning and the Blue Jays losing, the best case scenario now is that Detroit and Cleveland both win tomorrow, in which case the Yankees would get the Tigers in the first round if they’re stuck in the Wild Card.
Amusingly, of course, in the scenario, I bet the Red Sox would beat both the Guardians AND the Mariners.
The Reds win. They win tomorrow and the Boys of Shea go to the golf course.
I hope so but that’s so stupid. They’re should be a playoff. Remember 1951 NL? 1978 AL. Same with Yankees and Toronto.
Now that the Phillies have lost, the Brewers now have nothing to benefit from winning Sunday.
I’m sure they’ll still try to win the game, of course, but they don’t NEED it like they did if the Phillies had won (as if the Phillies swept the Twins, they would get the #1 seed over the Brewers if the Brewers got swept).
I bet if the mutts have to go home because of the tiebreak there will be a big stink and the rules will be changed.
Tigers now won’t be pitching Skubal, so even if the Yankees avoid the Red Sox in the Wild Card, they’ll get to face Tariq fucking Skubal. Ugh.
Come on, Rays, somehow!
So we wanted Boston to sweep Toronto or/and win yesterday. Want a revolting development this is.
Meanwhile Boone will be heralded for righting the Yankee ship while avoiding ANY blame for the Yankees from June 13 to August 4 going 18–27, the fifth-worst record in MLB during that span. The slump caused them to fall from first to third place in the AL East. If they didn’t suck so hard in that period they’re would be no wild card opponent worries.
Even when they were winning half of their losses were due to his stupidity.
Hoch Brent Headrick had a locker in the Yankees clubhouse after today’s game. Luis Gil is starting Game 162, so he may be off the roster for a Wild Card series.
It’s too bad we won’t get to see Jose Altuve’s annoying mug in the postseason this year.
